It's also not just a musical reference to OP1 but the lyrics themselves are word for word the quote of Armin, "That day humanity remembered etc etc." that the show starts with!
@@Nigels_Wrld If you listen to OP 2 you'll hear a distinct reference to OP 1 as well, and OP 5 (which is also by Linked Horizon, but tends to be pretty underplayed compared to the rest) has a specific part that references the first three OPs. In fact, all the songs from this album are "linked".
The thing I love about music is how undeniably universal of a language it is. You don't have to have a single credit of any type of musical education or technical knowledge to know when something sounds incredible. The education only makes it sweeter to be able to articulate and understand what makes something so good.
The coolest thing about the Linked Horizon AOT openings is that in the full versions, OP2 directly quotes OP1 and OP3 directly quotes OP1 and 2 and OP 5 is based off the melody of OP1, tying them all into each other as Attack on Titan
Lol this is why I always hope whenever people react to music, especially anime ost, they react to the full version because a lot of good stuff gets cut in order to bring it down to a minute thirty.
14:30 I'm a bit late, but it's actually a heartbit, "Shinzou wo Sasageyo" basically means "devote your heart". These guys surely put a lot of effort in their music.
Over time, the horse neighs have come to be one of my favorite parts of the drum solo - it’s almost like a diagetic background chorus, and it gets me HYPE Great analysis as always, I like how you frequently pause and rewind to inform and refine your feedback!
I love how you can always find little parts of previous AOT songs by Linked Horizon as you listen to them in sequential order and eventually we get that section with all of linked horizons songs in the second opening for season 3: shoukei to shikabane no michi.
Lol ikr there's horse, I laughed when listened to it at the first time. So unique, and it got sound of people saluting too, really fit to be a national anthem. This full version make me love this songs since the short ver didn't get me hooked. OP2 ('Jiyuu no Tsubasa') is the most national anthem for me, love it so much since the first listen. And full ver makes me love it more. Can't wait for your reaction to it!
Also what you said at 14:42 with the heart beat, pretty on par with the lyrical analysis. “Shinzo wo sasageyo” loosely translates to “dedicate/give your heart”
I've listened to this song so many times and have never noticed the horse accompanist, made me laugh out loud. Once you pointed it out, it was clear as day, I wish I had a well trained ear like that.
The instrumental section is super cool. The composer is giving several players their own short solo to showcase them individually instead of just the vocalist.
I've been watching Anime ever since childhood and I can't think of a single Anime series opening that can surpass the greatness of Linked Horizon's Attack on Titan Openings..these guys are legends.
Revo is an incredibly talented composer, at this point he already had a lot of experience but even his really early stuff, while less complex, is already very good. Also, everyone's already pointing it out but you did skip the actual OP2 so I hope you'll react to it too - the full version of that song also has lots of cool stuff happening
I'm hoping you catch this, but this is actually opening 3. (Season 2's opening - opening 2 is the 2nd part of season 1) Anyway, great video - can't wait for you to listen to the 2nd opening fully. :)
tony, one piece of information i would like you to know. all songs of the band Linked Horizon that are part of Attack on Titan are connected with each other. the next song always carries a motif from the previous one. that is, in Opening 5, it will have a part that reminds the music of opening 1,2,3, and ending 4 that they sing. yes, there is an ending in the middle of it all. so before you make opening 5 complete, make a video of ending 4 too. it would be cool not to break this music cycle to honor the songs from the previous openings. But that's up to you, i Just want it to give this info.
This song actual has reflections of the first and second OP. And to piggyback off your comment, this trend funnels toward the end themes Linked Horizon does as well
This is one of the songs I’ve been waiting to see this beautiful man’s reaction too, if I remember right it’s got that one part that consistently gives me an ear gasm
thank you, all these years and never noticed the horses, that is an insightful view of a pro. I really like your reactions, i wish the are more full songs and not just tv version
Is a piece like this recorded and put together in parts (the band is one recording and the orchestra instruments another, for example) or is everyone just jammed into one giant room? I can’t even imagine what it would take to have everyone perform this live lol. That would be soooo cool to see
I never actually noticed the horses 😂😂 I love the way you breakdown the song unlike other people who make reaction videos. I recommend reacting to the endings too, they're good - particularly Red Swan (one of my favourite AOT endings)
When I think of what it would be like to score music, my mental analogy is writing lyrics for five plus songs that are to be sung simultaneously each in a different language.
you should do opening 5 next from season 3 part 2. the full version of the song is amazing its sad that its completely cut from the tv version. opening 5 in my opinion is by far my favorite Aot opening. op 5 is Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi by Linked Horizon
Can't wait for the rest of the AOT songs. I want to see your reaction to a different song by the same composer, Revo. "Uroboros, the Serpent That Devours the Horizon" it's from the game Bravely Default and is another phenomenal piece.
Love your interpretations of the music. I know you mainly take recommendations from Patreon, but I suggest looking at some music from Vickablanka. I love his music (especially Black Catcher, one of my favorite songs 😊). Also highly recommend looking at some more ALI, really interesting band to listen to, and see all of their inspirations. I'm sure you'd love to listen to Revo's other band (Sound Horizon), there are great music's and some of Attack on Titan songs are linked to SH songs, so it brings something unique to the experience
Man you need listen linked horizon live version singing aot op, that was really on fire because not only the music but you can see someone who play all of this instrument, that is really dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥

This is actually OP3, OP2 is the second OP for Season 1, this is the Season 2 OP
How are we gonna explain that like opening 8 is like the 4th part but half of the last final quarter of the *maybe*¨final last ending part?
It got confusing on numbers 😅 I'll get the previous one soon
@@WildspeakerYT why did you make it more confusing than it needs to be 😂 the simple answer is that there is no opening 8

Somehow, after all the times I've listened to this on repeat, I never caught the horse neighs in the background. That's crazy!
HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THE HORSE NOISE UNTIL NOW??

It is a TRAGEDY that so much of this song is cut from the opening in the show
Tony: *hears one of the most godly kickass layered drum solos*
Also Tony: is that a horse?!
Of all the opening songs for AOT, this is my favorite. When I hear this song in the live video of Linked Horizon, I give my heart.
Why does everyone ignore the second one???😭😭😭 Jiyuu no Tsubasa is an underrated masterpiece I swear ;_;
Yeah
It wasn't intentional. It's the naming style. Don't worry, I'll do it
Love how the full song has melody flashbacks to OP1 and OP2
