Personally I have very little respect for anyone that goes into insurance. It’s such a plague on society that I automatically assume that anyone that is deciding to go into insurance is abandoning their morals in pursuit of a fat check. I have very little respect for people seeking out insurance jobs. I assume that this commenter feels that way about marketers.

@@lildmckay I would say it depends. His job is selling graphics cards which is a market about seizing existing customers. Unlike say a vape/cigarette marketer who wants to (quite predatorily) create customers, his job is to get people looking for graphics cards to choose nvidia. I think the marketers that try to lure in new customers too dangerous products and services are scummy but most graphics card customers are likely gamers/techy people who want to build/upgrade a PC and they are going to exist whether or not marketers do, its just a matter of who they buy from. On top of that, nvidia sell great products, its not like he is luring them away from good products to terrible quality ones.

6:55 I think billboards work for local companies, but McDonalds should never get one, for example in Utah (aka marketers heaven) a lot of companies put their hiring ads on billboards based on location. For example, I used to live in the tech sector (there’s like adobe offices n stuff over there), and all the local startups would put up a billboard, get hundreds of additional applicants, and take it down a couple weeks later. These companies are then able to rapidly expand and ensure their employees live relatively close. One company, Pattern, went from being a garage startup to a company valued at over $1b (iirc) in less than 3 years using similar tactics. I don’t think billboards sell things anymore but if you drive past a sign promising better pay and benefits on the way to your shittier job day after day it’s going to hit you eventually.
