Glad I was there! Nice class!
Glad you were there to help! We have the people to thank for this one, too!
-Sean
For a smaller channel you all put out some premium content. You should definitely see about collabing with some bigger channels. You all deserve more subs.
Thanks Mr Mallard, glad you’re enjoying the channel. We have been trying to reach out for a collab with minimal response. But it’ll happen some day I’m sure. -Tony
I was there too.
What edition is this for?
@@WilliamWilliamationJulien im guessing 5th edition since that is the most current edition out
It’s for 5th edition for sure. Right now it’s what’s being played.
I was there
very interesting concept... i like it a lot but i had a few questions about it. First. what level of consciousness does the host retain after being possessed? does it become a 100% drone and slave to the Slothkin so it can no longer function on its own, or can it still do things on its own and it is just feels like it needs its slothkin all the time so it will always keep it around. In other words is the bond a total take over of the host or just a Stockholm syndrome kind of thing.
Second. where do you find the list of different races the slothkin can bond to? i didnt see it in the link in the dobaly doo the link just has the Slothkin features.
Third. can the Slothkin only bond with commoners or can it bond with adventurers or nobility.... or maybe a monster (with a challenge rating of 1/2 or lower maybe)
Fourth. is it the Slothkin that has the skills or the host? for example. will the Slothkin be the level 3 fighter or wizard and will work through its host to accomplish its classes abilities or does the sloth have to bond with a fighter or wizard to be able to do the fighter or wizard things?
Five. if the Slothkin gets off its host does it still have posession over the host or does it break the bonding spell? can one slothkin bond more than one host
... how could a slothkin work with an adventuring group of other races? do the other races know of its synotic abilities and bonding. and does the Slothkin dissaprove of nonbonded races if it thinks it is supereor then them.....
sorry for the rant and questions its just things like these need to be brought up if the race is going to work...
so i have about 10 more questions with these but i will refrain from asking them all. I really really REALLY!!! love this idea and if my DM ever lets me i would really want to try this race out. the only thing is a lot of things need to be fleshed out before the MIGHTY SLOTHKIN can make an appearance on a table. great job guys and i really enjoy yalls content
Well, We're glad you like them so much! I'll try to answer questions the best I can
1.) Slothkin bind is more of a Stokhome Syndrome sorta of deal. Their hosts just don't want to put them down. It's not a total take over but the Slothkin do direct the actions of their hosts. If disconnected from their Slothkin, the host usually after regaining full consciousness feels a great pining to be hugged that can't seem to ever be achieved again.
2.) The list of races are actually in the Slothkin once you add them to your collection in DnDBeyond. Basically "add to my collection" then make a Slothkin character, you'll see the drop down list when you make a 1st Level Slothkin.
3.) We decided bonding with a commoner made them more balanced, as the host should be easy to kill if dismounted giving the Slothkin a disadvantage. However yes this can be flavored to be a noble or high ranking official as well. The Slothkin would find it acceptable to have a pet that would rule a country or have servants.
3a.) As far as monsters due to the way the Race is designed it needs to be something with abilities and wouldn't outclass the other players at the table so we went with player races only, but feel free to theme it any way you seem fit if you put it in your game.
4.) Good question. Originally the Slothkin were just the ones controlling the wizard, or fighter etc. However it worked better in DnDBeyond to have them be the class instead. I like to think of it this way: The slothkin have the drive to become the hero, "I want to be a wizard", "I want to be a Fighter" but they don't have the physical means to do so. Imagine something so slow swinging a sword or casting a spell (1 action spells tanking 10 mins, 10 min spells taking an hour) nothing would get done. So they symbiotic relationship works.
5.) They have to have constant contact with their hosts to maintain the bond and direct it to do things. So they must be held. However being knocked off a host and getting back on the same host doesn't make them have to spend bonding time again.
5a.) Bonding to more than one host? Like having a convertible for the spring and summer and a truck for the winter? I suppose if your DM allowed it, it could be worked out. You'd have to make sure they were kept well while you rode the other one though. I would say no to two at the same time.
5b.) Other races are oblivious to whats really going on, it's more fun that way. They just see Susie holding a sloth.
5c.) Inferior races are just that. lol
I hope that answers a lot, and remember its a home brew so you can flavor it or change it to fit what you want to play. It's kinda what we're all about - Tony
@@HomeBrewCrew thanks guys that clarifies a lot
Give us a datasheet
Was not there but I can imagine the bbeg as a cat with simulat abilitys. Like what is with these random people trying to break into the king's castle and they always seem to have fur on them
I'm curious about the racial bond bonuses but I can't find it
The way dndbeyond codes things you have to add the race to your campaign. The options will be when you make a character. Kinda dumb I know but it was the only way we figured out to make it work.
Elves still have advantage against being charmed so advantage against being a host.
