Thanks for the news Eldon! This is very sad news. After watching your video, I saw that same letter. This is my hometown park. I was raised with Great America and rode my first roller coaster at age 13 on the Demon. I do not understand why Six Flags could not help out with the park. Great America stood on its own when it first open in 1976, it was a zucchini farm before GA. I’m pretty disappointed with technology companies surround the park now. They do not belong along Great America along with Levi Stadium. Sorry I’m pouring my frustration into this but it tells I’m really sad about this closure! 😢

I foreseen the closing of GA - years ago it was said GA is closing -- when the park had changed ownership so many times then there is a huge problem with the park! I was going to get a 2025 season gold pass but knowing the park is doing away the event in 2025 there is no need to buy a season gold pass - it would be just a waste of money and time! I remember decades ago GA would be open in the morning and close late night now its lucky to be open 6 hrs a day. GA wants to make the most profit they can by shortening the hours of operation, over priced food and drinks, over priced souvenirs that are not souvenirs, its just items you can buy in box stores or on amazon for much cheaper prices!!! Theres no way someone can buy a one day ticket and get full value of it being in the park for 6 hours nor is the guests happy!!! over priced items, short operation hours, guest happiness is the downfall of why GA is not making money! no more great america - no more amusement parks in the bay area!

I’m sorry to hear that. They know how to do seasonal events as I witnessed on the last day of Grand Carnivale (when i rushed over to you and your dad to say ‘hey’ to before heading out) All it took was that visit to CGA and I was hooked. I really feel for you- it’s a great park and it’s a shame what’s happening to it
@cynthialou-tl6fw I think Magic Mountain has a good case to stay. It is the roller Coaster Capitol of the world. Holds the world record for the most coasters. It's also the flagship park for Six flags. If they close that park, the company would take a BIG hit. They also have a new coaster coming to the park soon. Probably next year.

The Cedar Fair/Six Flags announcement for the 2026 season has Sic Flags Great America listed as celebrating its 50th anniversary and there is no mention of the California park at all ... not a good sign at all for the park to even have a 2026 season sadly
i heard that GA is stopping all the special events because someone (not mentioning names) ate all the winterfest food!!! Mustve been very tasty winterfest food !!! Heard that because of this incident also happened at the Ocktober fest and the halloween event! only thing i will say DAMN SOMEONE IS HUNGRY!!!!

Unless of course we get news of that rumored amusement park coming to Fresno in the Central Valley...several large investing groups were shown around town by the mayor 2 years ago and one of them was rumored to be Six Flags about moving Discovery Kingdom there. 2 large site were shown to investors both around 160 acres one on the edge of town and one further out in Fresno County...made the news and everything here, but we have not heard ANYTHING since... A real shame...I had a trip planned to go up on Friday the 13th to do Winchesters Flashlight only tour and was going to stay another day and goto Great America and check out Winterfest for the first time...sigh...

@@Eldons_Excursions we can go anytime - you got fishing license? we can crab at ocean beach using snare traps - if you dont have license we can go to pacifica or half moon bay and crab off the pier using snares and hoop nets. we can get 10 dungeness crabs each so if there is 3 of us thats 30 crabs we can get as long as they are 5 3/4" i got two snares for rod s and 2 hoop nets and lots of surf rods
I have been in the deepest depression for days after hearing this news, and trying to scramble to go back to the last winterfest and possibly the last fireworks show for new years. All those lights and there electric bill triggered the CEO's. My kids are like we went this year, we will just go again next year. Im like you dont understand, no more 4th of July fireworks, no more Carnival, no more Winterfest. They dont belive me 😢. They said well.. what about Discovery Kingdom. Im like man...CGA has the best events. The 4th of July BBQ? that food! I mean Vallejo switched it to a drone show on the 4th. Real fireworks were so much better, and six flags closes earlier in the winter! This is so heartwrenching!!! I wish we could at least have a vote. Or they can give us something next year. At least the 4th of July BBQ and fireworks. Maybe a shorter. Winterfest? Wishfull thinking 🙏

Get a life and a clue. CGA is a low profit park, that the sell of the land made them more money than running the park for 15 years. They never wanted CGA,tried to get it out ofthe Paramount deal. They also tried to sell it in 2011 and the deal fell thru at the last minute.
They aren't building in new parks in any state. It's cost prohibitive. They also already have more parks than they want and some low profit parks they will sell. Also, the leases on the EPR owned parks will be terminated. They were a bad deal old SF made.

I found something on it a little bit ago. The fairgrounds board has not been a fan of the park for sometime now
