When I was in infantry basic training in Fort Benning in 2016, we would often be marched past a storage yard with all sorts of tracked armored vehicles in it in various states of repair, A Pershing, a pair of Centurions, Shermans and lots of Soviet armor etc, but parked between a recently painted Hetzer and a T-62 that was up on blocks like an unloved car in front of a trailer park, was a Jagdtiger. It was covered in parts and tools so it was clearly being worked on alongside the T-62, but it and several other vehicles had obviously been either range targets or something like that for the armor school so they had a lot of work to do.
Even though I was a good 100 yards away from this thing, it still made me feel small, it dwarfed the little Hetzer and the T-62. Easily the biggest thing in that tank park.
There are a lot of the german toys people like in this box. Guess it will be fun to a lot of players.
Very true.
Pilots and fuel were the two main issues for the Luftwaffe by the end of the war…they had plenty of men (but they were mainly ground crews pushed into “infantry divisions” and AA units).
Indeed.
a good amount in the box!
Yeah, not bad value.
A nice lot in the.box, cool unboxing guys
My overall feeling of this box is that not as good as the german tank force. Mostly because you’re very limited in which list you can build in a 50 point pick up game. Sure the cats are cool but you’re never going to play both. So instead of the Puma they should have included sdkfz 223. And lastly you are underestimating the Stug, it has a really high hull down value so it’s really hard to take out if you put in a good location.
The TIger I kit is a later production version and not accurate for an early one in North Africa. On the later production runs, they used steel rimmed wheels, not the tyred rimmed wheels, they do look quite different. The cupola was different or the mid and later runs, the filter system was deleted and of course the model there has the Zimmerit coating, which wasn't used until after the end of the North African campaign. It's very good if you want to do a 1944 Tiger. If you want a desert Tiger, you're better off with the Rubicon kit, which has all the right features. Of course in Achtung Panzer and Bolt Action, the rules are the same regardless of what Tiger model it is, so in that respect, it makes no difference. In regards to the Tiger II, the turrets were designed and built by Krupp and the so called 'Porsche' Turret wasn't built specifically for the Porsche hull, it's just the early turret design, it was changed as it had faults, the newer turret was easier to make and actually a better design. 127mm is 5 inch, I'm pretty sure it was developed from a heavy AA gun, as they did use 128mm heavy AA guns. I've built the Puma kit and it was fairly easy, at least I can't remember any issues, although I suspect the Rubicon kit will be loads better
Interesting, I htink you are right about the AA gun, but I'm not certain.
Does Mike be sitting on the floor for these videos ?...🤪
I've built plastic minis that have had separate strands of hair to glue in. That Puma is the one kit that's left me traumatised....
Yeah, its trixsy
Silly Sausage
Hmm... Waffle 🧇
