Loving the Dynahead! I do wish they'd upgrade their kit parts to 2021 or at least 2010, Always brushed motors, No oil filled shocks, Tamiya does not like change. Fantastic video as always Troy!
I have the Konghead which doesn't have the portals. I agree it's not a basher, not a crawler - but still a fun truck with 6x6. I plan on tearing mine down too to add some heavier grease to semi-lock the diff, and I just 3D printed some WT-01 arms to make it wider.
Your differential are not locked up all the way. Mine does not break loose near that much. I ended up getting some high mass military looking wheels and some Proline Grimes on mine. But yes you're right the steering is a problem mine did the same thing started out good and then went away as the servo saver went. Ended up putting a regular Servo horn on the back and will probably do the same with the front.
This thing looks bad ass man! Hurry up! get that beast out if it’s cage 🤣 300$ and you get plastic bushings???😡 4 wheel steer? Awesome 👏 Looks bad bro. Looks like it can crawl also. Great video my friend and I’ll see you soon right here 😁🔥🔥🤙
It's a good review video. I think I climb rocks better than I thought. But I think it will be a little hard to control. But I'm sure it's a nice car. 👍😍😂👍
My thoughts exactly! Add just a few more dollars, and you could get a fully RTR Redcat Gen8, or almost a TRX4 Sport. And for that price, you get 1980s plastic with bushings!
The thing is the bushings are not cheap to manufacture. So unless you’re doing it to preclude corrosion….including galvanic corrosion perhaps….or some other failure mode.. then just put bearings in.
I wish more companies would bring out kits. I have more fun building them then using them haha. My first hobby grade rc was a TT01. I built a TRX4 chassis kit and a Stampede 4x4 kit and then a Buggyra Fat Fox TT01e recently and I am not going to be building any more Tamiya. Too much plastic and not including bearings is stupid in 2022. Going to be building a drift kit next just need to decide which one
Agree 100%!!! Tamiya is kind of fun, but way to expensive and unperforming for what you get. I have a lot of videos on drifting. Let me know what help you need.
@@RoadsideRC Thanks I have them added to my watch later. The choices locally are limited (I live in South Africa) so I may import one from Amazon or Amain. I can get the Sakura D5S limited edition red or blue carbon for a fair price here or the MST RMX 2.0 or the Y2Ds. I was leaning towards the Y2DS carbon chassis kit from Amain and shipping it here. Not sure about the gyro it comes with. Also need to decide on a motor and esc. I run Hobby Wing in all my rc's brushless for the most part with my TRX4 using the 1080 esc and a holmes hobby motor. Thinking the just stock 13.5t combo or is it worth going for a dedicated drift esc and motor? I willl use this to learn with and upgrade as I go
I was just about to say ... are they open diffs? And then boom on the screen "Needs locked diffs" LoL! Its kind of like a 6x3 atm HaHa! Although it may also be horrible to drive with constant locked diffs ... maybe could just try the front first .. then back ... or vise versa ... find the sweet spot for handling / steering / performance :) Awesome rig though! and you couldnt have painted it a batter color ... it looks dead set amazing!
ALL of them. Unfortunately, it is not just one bearing kit - but I pieced together all of the bearings the truck needed based on size and quantity. It was EXPENSIVE.
I am wanting to build a kit around March time frame do you recommend this one or a different one I was looking at the traxxis 4x4 kit as well as some of tamiyas 4x4 buggies or rally cars
Honestly, I really do not recommend any Tamiya kits. They are overpriced, and under performing. The Traxxas TRX4 Sport kit is a GREAT build. One of my favorites.
That bushing thing was always anoying with Tamiya kits, but they got even worse when they removed oil dampers since the release of the TT-01, it's predecessor TA01/02 always had oil dampers
i would buld something like this but what annoys me is gearing lol thats my weakest point of rc past 5 yrs been trying to do it and cant get my head around it :( so when ive had kits theve been built without anything in them and sat on a shelf lol
I love building kits. I recently got the TT01E Buggyra kit and man Tamiya is just too plasticky and not including bearings sucks. The TRX4 chassis kit I built was in a different league. This looks cool but I would rather build a TRX4 sport or an Axial kit
Very cool looking body.
It was painted by Nathan from Big Buddha's!
Hello from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪. Very cool looks fantastic
Hello! Thanks for tuning in!
Your city is on my short-list to come and visit...whenever travel is allowed!
@@RoadsideRC your welcome stay in contact
Well you don’t see those everyday, looks great 👍🏼
You got that right!
I always thought it just looked cool, and wanted to give one a shot.
I have been looking at that for a while. I will now put it on my list to get.
Don't put it high on your list! :)
It is a fun vehicle for sure, but not really great at being a basher or a crawler.
Loving the Dynahead! I do wish they'd upgrade their kit parts to 2021 or at least 2010, Always brushed motors, No oil filled shocks, Tamiya does not like change. Fantastic video as always Troy!
I agree 100%! Thanks!
They are just models that happen to be rc. I do feel the price could be a little lower because of your previous points
I want this to be better than it is because it looks soo good! Nice work!
More work to be done on it!
We can make it better!
@@RoadsideRC ruclips.net/video/gpAqkW7SJ2Y/видео.html it’s all in the budget.

I put some silicone earplugs in my diffs..and that still didn't lock them. I think they need to be fully locked.

Thanks for the tip on the servo horn. I wasn't sure what it was in the overall linkage that was giving me problems.
@@RoadsideRC are you guys saying that the servo saver was the problem?
I am not sure. It hit the wheels independently, so I think it was actually bending the tie-rods
Tamiya in the house ! Thought it did well for a Tamiya. Mud run mild trail would like to see it's full potential. I will be tuned in for your tweaks.
Locking the diffs, better tires, and figuring out how to strengthen the steering and this thing will be much more fun!
Cool rig! First time I’ve seen one of these! Cool video
Thanks! They are not great vehicles, but they are fun!
That is an awesome rig! Fantastic video!! 👍😎👍
Thanks 👍
I really like how it looks!
Heavier diff fluid and some nice 1.55 crawler tires and id say it can hangout everywhere 🤔
Yep - I tried to lock the diffs with silicone earplugs, but it didn't work for some reason.
Proper crawler tires are certainly in the works!
Love the look
Thanks!

awesome looking rc.
Thanks! It does look cool!
The 500 hundred club to get this thing up and going right has always held me back ...maybe if the included the 72 doller full bearing kit geezers
Yes! For the $$$, you can have MANY other better RCs.

These are so cool!!!!!!
Tamiya kits are made to be hopped up..It's a given..Why didn't you lock the diffs?..Check out Tomley RC's dynahead
I actually tried to lock the diffs with silicone earplugs. Normally works...but not this time.
@@RoadsideRC Didn't it come with diff locking material in the box?
Not that I saw.
@@RoadsideRC I haven't built the kit but I remember seeing it in other unboxing videos
im tempted to get one of these as a project car towards December
also is the gum thats included any good at gumming the diffs?
I locked the diffs using the gears themselves. If you out them in a different way, it solid locks the diffs.
@@RoadsideRC fair
I don’t think it was ever meant to be a crawler but looks awesome and it looks different than the other 6x6 chassis is it?
VERY different than other companies 6x6 vehicles, but the same underlying chassis as other Tamiya vehicles.
I did find out this one has the portal hubs so it is different from the other tamiya 6x6
It does have the portals, promise.
Cool machine! Something different. I would lock the diffs (or at least add silicone ear plugs) and put some crawler tires on it.
That is what I am thinking of!
The diffs have actually already been filled with ear plugs...just didn't work for some reason.
@@RoadsideRC Brain fry! 🤯

It does not. It comes with zero. I had to purchase $$$$ worth of ball bearings as I assembled the kit.
