THE SIDE NOTE - Ok, this is kind of a niche video as a small % of the population is tall. Nonetheless, I thought it was an interesting video to make and I'd be interested to find out what the thoughts of tall people are about SUVs? Which ones make the most sense to you? Which ones don't make sense? Let us know your thoughts.

I’m 6’5 270lb I currently drive a Volkswagon Atlas fully loaded and it’s very nice for me, I think I’ll be buying a fully loaded Ford Expedition next; although the suburban looks really spacious as well.

@sugu8403 how's that atlas on the leg room? Can you stretch all the way? I wish I can get the Tahoe but it's out of budget. I'm pushing for the pathfinder by the end of the month

@@dannyg1542 For legroom the Atlas is really good I have my chair moved back about 3/4 of the way and it’s very comfy especially with the lumbar controls, one con though is I have to duck to go into it because it’s not as tall as a full size like the Expedition, Suburban, Escalade etc. but the headroom once I’m inside is really nice! And the trunk space is massive with the third row down 😁

these videos are useless for tall people. it's not about 'headroom and legroom' - almost all vehicles have adequate numbers. What really matters to people 6' 4" and up is: visibility, seat depth/bolster comfort, center console intrusion.

I am 6'4, the only Mid Sized SUVs I can find are 2022/23 versions of Nissan Pathfinder, Ford Explorer and Hyundai Palisade. It's no wonder the Palisade is the best selling SUV right now. They are the only ones with legroom over 44 inches; unless you want to buy a large SUV like the Escalade, Suburban or Tahoe. It's very frustrating finding an SUV you can fit in. Why don't they get rid of that silly 3rd row and give the driver more legroom?

    • @pharos529

this is exactly my problem. you and i are probably around the same size. ive yet to sit in a palisade, but i used to own a 2015 sonata several years ago. 45.5 inches of legroom and 40 inches of front headroom. it was perfect for me. the new sonatas look alot smaller. i havent had a chance to sit in one though.... im in the market for a new car. id really prefer a sedan, but they just dont make them big enough these days. i may really need to look into the palisade.

    1) will not fit in any jeep besides the wagoneer (the same as dodge too)
    2) the full size SUVs in GMC, don’t fit into / the same as their trucks
    3) ford expedition / F-150 is the only one that fits me (steering wheel is high out which is a plus)
    4) the pathfinder is like I’m sitting up right in a chair that has no room, the same in the Infiniti
    5) Atlas is decent but the remodel version (updated) I would check just in case
    6) no Asian brand cars would fit except the new Honda Pilot, and possibly the Hyundai/Kia Telluride/Palisade
    7) have to find a 3 row suv midsize to suit

The Wrangler is tricky. Because, yes, my right leg can bump into the steering wheel. However, my LEFT leg can be fully extended straight. I can't do that in any other vehicle other than a BMW 5 series (but that's a sedan). This was most important to me because folding my left leg causes it to push into the door panel on most every car. Ironically, short Wrangler users actually buy 'dead pedals' aftermarket and install because they struggle to have something to rest their left foot against.
If you're a little claustrophobic, I can see how the dash sort of bumps out closer to your chest area.

    • @auto_exclusive
      @auto_exclusive  2 года назад

The headroom and legroom data can be found on Jeep's website: www.jeep.com/wrangler/specs.html.
This video is not necessarily about the absolute best SUVs for tall people as generally the largest SUVs tend to have the most head and legroom...wouldn't be a very useful video to just list the largest (not to mention most expensive) SUVs on the market.
Instead, the goal was to list the best SUVs of varying sizes, prices, purposes (ie. offroad) and styles as tall people--just like anyone else--have budgetary concerns, have desires to use SUVs offroad, prefer certain styles, etc.
I have a family member that is 6' 5" and I know full well the biggest SUVs tend to work best (for instance, the Chevy Suburban) but the variety of SUVs listed in this video--based on the combination of legroom and headroom specs--are ones that may best appeal to tall people more than others..not that they are absolutely ideal Everyone is unique and only once you sit in a vehicle can anyone truly tell if it's right for them. And let's not forget, tall is a broad category...people that are 6'1" may easily view a vehicle differently than someone that is 6' 5".

I've definitely caught more flack on featuring the Wrangler on this list than anything else but---just like anyone else--some tall people like off-roading and/or the features that vehicles like the Wrangler has. Obviously, it's not the optimal vehicle for tall people and clearly not a strong option for the very tall but it seemed appropriate to include an off-road oriented SUV.

I appreciate the feedback. As I mentioned in a response to a previous comment, the purpose behind the video was not to outline the absolute Best SUVs for Tall People as that would almost entirely comprise of the largest SUVs and, therefore, would ignore the needs of many viewers who--just like anyone else--have a variety of wants, needs and budgets. Instead, the goal of this video was to provide an assortment of the Best SUVs for tall people that included different price ranges, uses (ie. off-road), sizes, etc. Yes, that means some more optimal SUVs (again, generally larger SUVs) were left off and some SUVs that are not exactly optimal (ie. the Wrangler) were featured so that options for all types of would-be buyers were presented. In hindsight, I probably should have outlined this in the video because I understand where yours (and others) feedback is coming from.

Understand what you are saying and have discussed this before in previous replies. The idea was that tall people, just like anyone else, also sometimes want an off-road oriented vehicle and among those, the Wrangler would be one to consider for a tall person-not that it’s ideal. Same can be said about other vehicles on this list, i tried showcasing different vehicle classes and price points so thst it wasnt just the largest SUVs on the market which generally work best for tall people..
