    Sophisticated counter measures, forward looking infared. Terrain Following Radar and a 500 miles *Radius* make this a must have aircraft for special operations.

    What are the differences between CV-22 and MV-22?
    Could the CV-22 stow the rotors and wings like the MV-22?

    • @eshankulkarni2843
      @eshankulkarni2843 3 года назад +4

      Yes they all can. I believe the CV-22 has an extra crew and an extra fuel tank, and some tech to support low level night specops missions.

    • @jaredwindmeier5558
      @jaredwindmeier5558 2 года назад +1

      as far as i am aware, the primary difference is the weather penetrating radar on the front, which allows them to fly very low to the ground in very poor visibility and still allow the crew to see the terrain. I dont really know tho, i fly on the mv-22.

    Nice video, but how could you forget to ask the most important question of all times!!?? :
    Can it fly straight up?? I.e. In plane mode, can it fly straight up (until it reaches the operation ceiling) :-P
    Btw: how does it do an emergency landing? Does it glide, or do they do auto rotation?

    • @chrissmith7669
      @chrissmith7669 4 года назад +1

      SourceOfObesity they don’t autorotate, they glide it in. Straight up? Why would they do that. Nothing in the mission would require that.

    • @SourceOfObesity
      @SourceOfObesity 4 года назад +1

      Chris Smith straight up, cause they probably can go vertically straight up with the nose first ? At least in theory:-) Just because that is extremely cool :-)

      I liked the 5 blade rotor design. From what I remember they didn’t have the design tools to make the 5 blade rotor head light enough but still strong enough for the crazy forces during transition. Maybe today with 50 years of computer advances they could.

    The XV-15 it was developed from: 😞

    • @chrissmith7669
      @chrissmith7669 2 года назад

      First Production tiltrotor. The German designer Focke was testing a tiltrotor in the early 40’s but faced difficulties due to constantly having to move his studio and production. The US gave it to Bell who made the first translations between vertical and horizontal in the XV-3, then came the XV-15. The AW-609 (Xx-609? As often as ownership has changed) is second generation production and 5th generation design. The 280 is the sixth generation of flyable tiltrotor. If Karen gets further funding from NASA for their Military Heavy Lift Tiltrotor (almost a twin of the LCTR) it could be the next generation C-130 sized tiltrotor capable of transporting a Stryker size vehicle.
