37:35 on onwards. He said there's no issue with investing in a company 100% funded via interest bearing debt on the premise its a good investment....not sure why he's stopping there. Can also invest in alcohol, pork and dabble in some drugs. All not as problematic as dealing in riba

4:33 Education or School and Colleges In today’s day is primarily for Jobs not just for the sake of it after all. Men are obligated to provide for their families and this is not the case for women so it is necessary for men and not women. Also look at how much Islam is criticized for having gender roles and Hierarchy in society and family. The Modern Education system (secular values) are effecting women the most and making them rebellious towards Islam and its values whilst thinking that they are wronged. How can we succeed If the Islam says the best place for the women is the home yet the secular system wants them to be pushed out of it and overburden them with Education (much of it vain knowledge) and jobs and thereby Pushing them to see marriage and having many children to be a burden rather than a blessing. We want woman in the work force only to the extent of necessity or those that will benefit the ummah whilst not sacrificing their deen. Typically most women who argue for western education and right show themselves outwardly with improper hijab. Showing themselves to be Rebellious to god for the sake of western and worldly honor.
Look at the Palestinians. Their women are educated like the sahabiat and great women in our history. But they observe hijab and are leaders of this ummah waging jihad against the disbelievers, they are women of knowledge: mothers, daughters, sisters but also doctors, psychologists, teachers and journalists...did they become secular or lose their haya? No. Because their men nurture them and teach them the deen, Islam is a religion of ilm and Muslim society is supposed to love knowledge and education. You have to educate your women, they will educate your children. We forgot our own values, we either become western and lose our ghairah or become too narrow minded and oppress our women. Look at the people of Gaza. They are balanced, a middle nation. May Allah guide the rest of us.
They are in war so the death of their family takes their minds and hearts to god rather than this life and we can not say they are not affected because that is not their focus at the moment. If you give them a few generations of peace it may not be major but you may start seeing effects of it. I am not saying we do not need doctors or teachers or education. But the ideal should be most women in the home with education such as being a teacher to the children of their homes. I am Simply saying that we must change the goal of the education system to an Islamic ideal not to western ideals. Their many other countries who are effected by secular education such as my country Pakistan with plenty of feminists, nationalists and apostates although much of the youth is primarily religious and fighting against it. I also think the sahabiat would be furious with the state of women rn and the men for being careless with their wife’s and daughters.
Actually, in madinah opposite the masjid green dome there's a museum it shows women in the prophets society did 60 types of job roles. They used to participate in battles, be doctors, nurses in those battles open their own clinic. They did teaching, beauticians, quality control checkers in marketplaces so mnay different roles. Banning women from education, working is fatwaa from India colonisation times where deobandis announced it before that women would be at university and working as normal. We can't use those fatwa in these current times

To say that the system (economic based on fiat and interest, and political based on blind democracy where people are counted but not weighed) doesn't need an overhaul but the Islamic education system does is inane. Granted Islamic education needs improvement but not overhaul.
Women education is upstream to women working which is upstream to undoing the family structure of Islam. The Idea that the Taliban are denying women some type of divine right is false, Taliban cab adopt whatever ijtihad suitable to them on this new issue. This is a pre industrial, largely agricultural economy and there is nothing of economic utility for Advanced eduction for women there. Taliban were able to kick out Americans ( Where this Hasimp lives ironically ) because their conservative structure was intact. Women in traditional homes having lots of children.

@@AsiyaMamsa Yes, Islam encourages all humans to gain knowledge and become useful to their family, relatives, and society in general. But, you have to understand that it is Afghanistan, where communism still has its roots. Girls going to universities is still looked upon as a rebellion against the very fabric of Afghan societies. It is not Islamic as much as it is the wish of conservative Afghan society that women should not pursue higher education in subjects apart from medicine.
You have to understand that for traditional Pashtoon society, adopting Islam is like going a few step down the ladder of hardcore patriarchy.
Do you feel then that there is a big cultural element and also a reaction to American imperialism with all the resentment against that and it's preaching of values including women's rights?

@@AsiyaMamsa none of these roles requires Advanced degrees and were not careeers in the sense we understand it today. And this is largely nonsense and exaggerated revisionist history btw but regardless Madinan society was a society where women stayed at home and had kids. Modern mass secular education is a modern thing imposed on Muslim society not a divine right and the Taliban have a right to their own ijtihad on this issue.

The Taliban government is one government united under one leader and their differences in opinion does not affect their love and allegiance to the leader, as theyve made clear.

Why are you in the West? There are NO negative repercussions to you moving to Afghanistan if it's so great. Unlike with ISIS, you won't lose your passport, you won't be stopped at the border and you won't be jailed. But still you people are too cowardly to practice what you preach.

Although some good points are made - it has left me more confused than informed - Is the Shaykh suggesting we invest in companies over the 30% debt ratio (I assumed this was a consensus of scholars), or try to create our own systems, what do we do in the interim?
There was some criticism of some institutions (some of which I do agree with) essentially not being aware of the current situation of Muslims, but what does the Shaykh expect us to do with our stock portfolios in the interim?
I feel he has described some of the issues, but in terms of the actionable solutions on what is realistically possible there was little talk.
I’d be interested to hear others opinions on this.
Never heard anything less nuanced and surface level than this all-halal opinion. it's funny how many non Muslim researchers like Rana Faroohar, are sounding the alarm against the increasing financialization bcs of its catastrophic impact, yet, defeatist Muslims are proposing to embrace it disregarding explicit prophetic prohibitions and it's broader economic ramifications.

But, you have to understand that it is Afghanistan, where communism still has its roots. Girls going to universities is still looked upon as a rebellion against the very fabric of Afghan societies. It is not Islamic as much as it is the conservative Afghan values (actually Pashtoon values) that women should not pursue higher education in subjects apart from medicine.

Read “Reasoning with God” by Dr. Khaled Abu Al-Fadl. He addresses many of the issues discussed in much broader terms.
I assumed the debt ratio limit is based on the ribawi nature of debt being forbidden thereby making their business based on a haram action. I assume originally the limit should be zero
The debt to equity ratio point makes no sense? Is it all or nothing ? So either the entire stock market is haram or it’s all ok and go for it, invest in any stock ignoring the interest involved with the debt ?!?

Banning education is part of Pashtun culture. Hasib Noor, who is a Pashtun, won't address this though.

I have a lot of respect for the shaykh having spent time with him in masjid al aqsa. He is great in islamic history.
I do find here though he has gone against the grain of what most islamic finance scholars have agreed upon which is likely to open up a can of worms and further muddy the waters.
The Taliban can do what they want and adopt whatever Islamic policy they want on education or women within the Shariah. There are very good reasons to restrict education for women and Taliban don't have to justify themselves to people Hasib Noor and liberal Awnists like him.
Is Mufti Taqi Sab an awnist too? He wrote to the Talibs encouraging female education.

Also, it is rather rich of us laymen, from the comfort of our home, assert as to what the Taliban are doing right or wrong regarding the allowance of a certain cohort of a population into certain institutions. Unfortunately, we have deified and sanctified the idea of women's 'education' and 'empowerment' and as if it should be placed in the top most priorities of a nation's list of issues. We Muslims have become craven towards the liberal/feministic sentiments. May Allah guide us all.
