    My parents came to the United States in 1992 from India. They settled in New York for a while, but then eventually landed in Cleveland in 1999. They went back to their country after their visas expired, but then came back in 2002. A year later, 2003, I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. My parents left Cleveland in 2004, and I was raised in the Southwest. But there was always a part of me that was curious about where I was born. To me, Cleveland seemed like a dream land. My parents kept telling me it was horrible, the winters were tough, no progress, but I still felt a connection to the city of my birth. My first experience in basketball was in 2010. It was actually during the Lakers-Celtics finals. During the offseason, LeBron left, and at that time I really didn't know who we was. But by the time he came to Cleveland as a member of the Heat, I had read up. From 2010-2014, I was a die-hard Cavs fan. I never got the games, but would follow on gamecasts to follow them. I would wake up before school to watch NBA GameTime and would wait to see highlights of the Cavs win or loose. I grew a connection to players like Anthony Parker, JJ Hickson, Mo Williams, later Kyrie and Tristian Thompson. I remember watching the game where the Cavs beat LeBron's heat for the first time. In 2014, when LeBron made his decision to return home, I was at a summer camp and later found out the news. I was so excited. In 2015, I made my first trip back to the Land in 11 years, back to the city where I was born. Later that day, my father and I saw a thriller - Hawks vs Cavs Game 3 of the ECF. In 2016 Game 7, when the Cavs won, it capped off a 6 year journey of sticking behind the team. In fact after that year, I felt like I didn't need to watch anymore basketball. Nothing could beat every thing that happened over the course of my unwavering support for the Cavs. I may not live in Cleveland, but I was born there. 2015 was the last time I went back, but I still feel a close connection to the city. In fact, when I introduce myself to people, I always say I'm from (my current city), but I was born in Cleveland. I'll continue to say that because I'm extremely proud of it. Sorry for the length of this comment. I really don't care if anyone reads it, I just felt like I had to write it. If you did read it, thanks!

    I’m not a cavs fan nor the biggest lebron fan but I remember the day he announced he was going back home & I remember hearing this essay and being so inspired. The 2016 championship run was beautiful, although I didn’t root for CLE it is an amazing accomplishment. It’s crazy he’s going to be a laker now, this essay still gives me goosebumps!

    Today is May 13, 2023. Although Bron does not play for our team anymore, he plays for us. He represents us. He represents Akron, Cleveland, and all of Northeast Ohio. Go win the fifth ring bron. Cleveland's behind you. Beat the Nuggets! And win the Finals! Good luck. We will always support you. You are the pride of who we are. You represent it on and off the court.

    The Cavs might not have won the lottery draft in 2004 or 2005, but I still think that LeBron should've worn the scarlet and grey for at least one year, my opinion, two years. ND, NC, OSU, Duke, whatever. A year or two in college would've instilled the maturity and killer instinct drive that he lacked coming into the league out of high school. Imagine if LeBron would've came in in 04 or 05 50 lbs heavier, 50 lbs bigger, 50 lbs stronger and having that same killer instinct that Kobe had his entire career? That Garnett and Pierce had in Boston. That Rodman had in Detroit and Chicago. LeBron is already hands down the best NBA superstar of his generation, but the scary thing is, with a year or two of college under his belt, he could've entered the league SO MUCH BETTER!

      i think him going to college would have been bad, i feel he was at the level that he would not be moving skill wise in college, he was too good

      DIGITALBEATBOX X it was time to move and he has to live life and raise a family too. The city of Cleveland knows that, they know he worked as hard as he could, now he’s just enjoying life for himself and his family

    • @siballer15
      @siballer15 3 года назад

      @@carterray1007 that’s BS for sure looking back, he wasn’t just enjoying his time with his family. He left to go win rings elsewhere and to do his business outside of basketball. He also wanted bronny in a good media driven high school. He came back to Cleveland with the mindset of possibly winning and retiring there. But it didn’t happen because of the media and the scrutiny of losing in the finals. I wish he never had left, because this would have been truly a story booking ending even if he had never won again in Cleveland. Him leaving stains is career, and why he came back in the first place.
