They were from my home town, my mates older brother made me a mix tape with kingmaker, carter usm, neds atomic dustbin... stuff like that. Happy Times.
I met the singer of this band in China in 2013. He did audio recording for a class with my wife. We went out and had beers after. Cool guy. I just realized I should look up his band.
I remember seeing this video just once in 1993 on "super channel". Never heard of that band or song again. But I do remember being mightily impressed by the way the drummer handles the snare drum. Oh and those lovely English beaches!
Love this band so much. Somebody needs to put out a rarities/outtakes collection, they had like three full albums' worth of top-notch songs that weren't on albums.
I went to see Suede play in America. They were supported by a little know band called The Cranberries. Interesting when the support band ends up shitting on the headline act.
@WillTheFace the chords sound pretty easy to me...Give it a go, I'm sure you'll do a good job of it. And the guitar solo? Even I could play that! Good luck!

ahhhhhh...it's gratifying to know i'm not the only person in the world who remembers this band.
That guitar solo!!

thanks for this mate! still a very treasured underrated band in my eyes.
Hey iam from Costa Rica and sleepwalking was my first cd. Have great memories about this band.
I've been Googling this band for ages. Great stuff. 90s!

I went to their gig at Reading University where a little known band called Suede supported them.

Brett Anderson talks briefly about that tour supporting them, in his new book.... Thats why I'm here, I didnt know them.
Pretty sure Radiohead supported them too....
@@MrRhurbarb Suede were a lot better than cranberries lol
Top
Band, watched them loads of times .
I came across this band by accident a couple of years ago - glad I did. Sleepwalking is a lost classic, shame they didn't make it.
Rock on Kingmaker! One of their best!
Remember this song when it came out...long time ago now!
Haven't heard this one in 16 years! CHEERS!!!!!!
Brett Anderson's self bio brought me here.
Love this!
Listen to Kingmaker's
song 'Playground Brutality'. It will change your life.
You ve right ;)
Awesome, was at Hull uni same time. Great track.
Great band - nearly made it - trouble is the bands that tended to support them did better than they did, they were true kingmakers
Went to see them (not sure why in watching this!) and saw Suede in support: the start of an obsession...
Dogshit/diamonds
Great stuff
KINGMAKER - Live at the Adelphi in Hull on Dec 11th 2010!!!!
Proper Hull band - Respect Kingmaker.
Hastings seafront never looked so cool....
(my home town)
I still don’t know how they didn’t get a call from the Wonderstuff’s people!
Actually bought this IN 1993 it was a two C.D set you had to buy the 2nd disc two weeks later.
It's the same melody as spacehog's "in the Meantime", but this one came first, right?
Cool. 'Sweet Jane' by the Velvets meets The Sex Pistols. Underrated band
They say ya vacant face helps the tourist trade, but they should see you in your leisure time.....WELL.....FUCKIN AWESOME!
@hbth19 can either of you tell us what ever happened to loz then?!?! x
"Hastings" and "cool"...
There's two words I never thought I'd see in the same sentence. Great song though!
this was a 7ins single worth buying (playing cards on cover).
First heard this on Virgin 1215 as a 14 year old in 1993.
Yeah great guitar!
Is it a 50's?
I believe it's a reissue just like mine! But that doesn't matter.
It's a great guitar!
The singer reminds me of the smiths, the music reminds me of the pixies. All in all, pretty good.
Really?
❤

Best bit is Paul King at the start
Not if you like good music it isn't. Bitch.
VJ Paul King MTV UK!
Tazaryach Ben Y'israel "That's what my heart yearns for now... LOVE AND PRIIIIIDE!"
Hell of a lot better than Housemartins/Beautiful South. Great energy and talent
Miles Hunt innit? He wished.
i thought this was the hardcore band.. i'm so..?
upload loveless/defamed
sounds like The Housemartins
Nothing like The Housemartins.
Trance State
Paul Heaton's music is nothing like Erasure. Not sure where you're coming from on that one.
Massive Wonderstuff rip off, especially the throaty vocal thing he does.
