This is 1000% a parental problem. Starts at home. Period.
I'm childless myself, but it looks like parenting these days is pretty rough! When WASN'T it like that??
@@Jasmine215100 it wasn't as rough to parent in the pre-industrialized age as most families lived in more community based settings, so there would be several generations together all pitching in to help with childcare, the house, cooking, farming, whatever they were doing, this is a modern day problem, especially as capitalism draws parents away from the home to second, third, fourth jobs

Last I checked, Claire’s is still open, cartoons are still on and parks still exist. Friendship bracelets can be made, slumber parties are free. Why arent these parents enriching their children’s lives more than just allowing them to watch tik tok? Parents have to parent regardless of what is or isn’t available.
That’s what I was about to say they are all still open they aren’t losing business because of anything but parents not taking their Children and letting them watch TikTok I woulda got in so much trouble if my mother knew I went into even the front half of Spencer’s before i was 13 what happened to teens going to Arden? What happened to suprise bags all the way up till that age bc of the jewelry ones they had there ugh good times they missing out more than anything
Because their kids are not interested in that probably. I’m sure they all wana do what their friends are doing. :/

A kid who hangs out in a mall.
I was too!! But we took pride in our malls and stores.
Same, if I wanted to try them out and I accidentally made a mess then I’d clean it up.
“when we get inside, you better not touch anything!” These kids clearly haven’t had this talk.

I 100% blame the parents for not monitoring what their kids watch. This makes me sad for these kids.
everything they watch now is literally brainrot content. they dont even know how to tell time anymore
@@minmin-zr3lqThat’s actually more due to parents being neglectful. My sister doesn’t even get her bag checked when she comes home from school.
I blame them for not managing their children’s behaviors. When I was a kid, I wanted all the things in magazine and commercials, but wanting it didn’t matter. It was inappropriate, so we didn’t get it. My parents would never have taken me into a Sephora, or if they did, they would have been right next to me and kicking me out if I did anything wrong.
I don’t think it’s appropriate for a minor to be on social media. At all.
@@amandajohnson8116, I agree completely. They're on sites such as Instagram, X, Tumblr, and all these NSFW sites, and then we, the adults, have to be punished, i.e., more censorship laws and the likes because parents let their 13-year-olds on these sites. Teachers across the West are fed up with the kids today for their disrespectful behaviour, which they get from social media.
The problem isnt the internet. The problem is parents who dont say NO.
Thank you
THANK YOU
It’s both
It's definitely both. Parents need to say no to their kids and keep kids off of the internet. Kids are extremely easy to influence. My five year old thinks that every game that she sees with people playing and having fun will be fun for her, too. I'm trying to teach her the difference between the people having fun and her likelihood of having fun with the same game.
It's definitely both. Pre-internet you were only familiar with what was popular in your own social bubble, you bought the products available in your local stores and that was it. There was toxic beauty standards before but everything exploded with social media. This is were parenting should come in, and many parents fail at that bc it's just so much more convenient to let tiktok and co. raise your kid right? Edit: fixed a typo
My daughter is 11. She’s asked for skin care and a Stanley cup. I said no, you don’t need those. And that was the end of it. Told her we would research products when she’s older. 🤷🏽♀️ I also don’t allow her on social media
🎉🎉🎉🎉 Tell her they have lead in those cups anyways!
You're a great example of a good parent and you're 100% right, no child needs those things especially since those products can be harmful and the Stanley cups also could be dangerous since they contain lead.
Edit: Correction, they have lead on the bottom of the cups which can still be harmful.
Kids don't care about lead@@blueeyedscorpio7
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I can only imagine your daughter is going to grow up well-adjusted and completely capable of being able to be told "no" and not have a nuclear meltdown. From one parent to another (my son is 17), i deeply appreciate you ❤
Smart momma
The mother needing the Sephora clerk to talk sense into and convince her child out of an unnecessary splurge purchase is 100% the root of the issue.
literally, my mom would've forced me to only get one
@itsmikki44 at that age, my mom wouldn't have even brought me to the store! I wasn't even supposed to get my ears pierced until 16 (done on 10th birthday) so pricey makeup and skincare was unthinkable.
the skincare smoothie thing is literally just "making potions" but in sephora instead of in the garden/woods
Stump potions is far superior
I used to do something similar what I was a kid. But I did it with stuff I found around the house, not in the store. And I didn't put the results on my skin.
Honestly, I thought I was doing chemistry and was disappointed that I didn't get bubbling reactions. The stuff just sat there in the sink...
@@noppornwongrassamee8941 I remember making "potions" as a kid too lol 😄. But like you as well the thought of putting the end results on my face never once crossed my mind 😅. As for my skincare routine back then it was basically nonexistent beyond just some simple flavored lip balm.
At least in the garden and woods, no one is buying the potion and getting a tampered with product.
OMG I REMEMBER THOSE!!!
People NEED to get their kids off of the internet
Exactly and the moms need to quit over doing all the makeup and beauty products. I have five and six year old little girls and none of them are talking about any makeup products. I got them a little makeup set for Christmas and they played with it one day that was it. But my kids are also not on their tablets and computers and stuff all day. 'gentle parenting'
@@tessfabled4115 that is not gentle parenting
Push over parenting. I feel like they just don't want to parent and don't want to handle their kids crying and whining so they say yes to everything.
@@tessfabled4115 that isn't gentle parenting though. It's tough to break cycles in families and do better, but that doesn't mean you just let them do what they want and never have to cope with things the child doesn't like. That sets anyone up for failure.
I think a lot of these parents were probably traumatized in some sort of way with their own parents, so now they are over compensating to make sure they don’t make those same mistakes.. but a lot of the time, it’s emotionally immature parents who don’t know how to take “no” for an answer themselves from their own parents. So, they let their kids do whatever they want so they are the “cool parents” .
As a 13 year old, I can’t believe how many people my age or younger have such little respect for the people and products around them. I can’t tell whether it’s the internet, the parenting, or both. I’m scared to go to malls now

Long gone are the days of letting little kids be little kids.
Stop letting the internet raise your kids, and raise them.

In Brazil there is a rule that if you opened it, you will have to pay. In this situation, mall security guards are supposed to hold children until their parents show up to pay for the product.
In the US all the products shown in this video, for the most part, are considered “testers” the store fronts the cost of one product to place in front of the display of the boxed products so that customers can “test the product” on themselves before buying. With eye shadows it’s usually to color test on the arm or hand. And similar for the rest of these products.

If this was blk children behaving in this manner this would have ended long ago. Parents would be ticketed or jailed!

People often tell me they thought I was still in high school.
I have never owned a concealer, a mascara, a foundation. All I have is an eyeliner pen, and an eyebrow pencil, and some lipticks I was gifted.
Nothing wong if someone has a lot of products, but not for children. Children DO NOT need all of that.
It is sad to see them so early be so obsessed with their apearances, and not letting themselves stay children and enjoy these times.
Adulthod is not fun, and these kids want to rush themselves into it.
What brand of cream do you use? It’s so hard for me to find a good product that won’t break me out.
@@rileyswack5402 hey so I don't really use a brand, I use a raw and refined shea butter (my sister makes it).
I'm not sure what type of skin you have so maybe what works for me won't work for you.
But I always only use pure natural stuff on my face, pure oil that has no added chemical or a pure butter. It's easy for me to find that sort of things in my country. Maybe test it with an oil (you don't need to use a lot) and see what it does. But if your skin is oily I'm not sure it's a good idea.
Or try a cream that has the most natural ingredients as possible.
I’m 22 and own no makeup. Many mistake me as a 12 year old. I don’t see a need for it
I'm 40, oldest ive been guessed at has been 32, most of the time, people assume I'm in my 20s still. I use a basic body moisturizer, and sunscreen and dove for soap.
My hair gets more attention than my skin, but it's curly. Make up is very basic and minimal.
These kids are gonna look 40 at 18 using these products at such a young age.
....and adulthood isn't a guarantee for everyone. Long life is a privilege and am really tired of everyone whining about existing being "hard". Every day is a gift and we 're all squandering it on plastic and chemicals.
This is ridiculous- why are the parents PAYING for it??! I wouldn't buy my kid makeup until she was much much older- and even then, I wouldn't buy her something as expensive as what I would buy myself as a "treat", this is just woeful on so many levels..and I'm surprised it's not damaging their young skin
Allowances are out of control now. It’s become the latest Keeping Up With The Joneses trend.
It is damaging their skin, they’re ruining their skin barrier before their hormones even get a chance to kick in and wreck them, then there’ll be little to nothing left to help protect against it…
Oh they will pay the price with their faces
I'm ashamed to say I bought an eyeliner for $22. I had $100 couldn't find what I wanted, and only settled for that. $22.00 is very pricey for one little thing, but at least it achieved what I wanted.
the only makeup i have is some eyeliner that was like $5 but i have like no sephoras or big makeup companys anywhere near me so i guess thats it.
I am so thankful for the daughters I have! One is a tomboy and the other that does play with MU, does just that she plays. It's not a need. Neither of them even know what these brands are and their skin care routine consists of face wash and lotion.
I worked retail last fall and 11 year olds saying things like “I just spent $600 at lululemon” was common. Why are parents giving their children credit cards?
When I was young, if I wanted something but mom was already tired, I was trusted enough with the card to go in and grab the single item that I was begging for. Now, if I came back from that with a 600$ charge, I would have never been seen again 💀
If the kids want to spend 600$ at Lululemon and their parents allow them to do that I don't see an issue. They shouldn't do that just because random people on the internet don't approve that? Interesting logic
I had a co-worker whose 11 year old asked to go to Lululemon to buy "a few things". When he saw the prices, he said she could get whatever she liked- using her birthday money. Suddenly she was fine with heading to Target, lol.
Why do they even need lulu lemon

I go to sephora only about once or twice a year. But when I do, I don't even go near the popular products or do anything with the samples except for the perfumes cuz I wanna smell them. I am absolutely disgusting by the things people my age are doing. I am so terribly ashamed.
As a 12 year old myself, I am absolutely DISGUSTED. I’ve never been to Sephora, however, if I do, I will make it a POINT to be respectful to everyone around me and if I use testers, not make the smoothie things on testers, which OTHER PEOPLE also use. It seems that my generation is really immature now… and I’m genuinely appalled at how true that is. I feel like I’m one of the handful that are mature about skincare and makeup. I hope I didn’t offend anyone with this paragraph.

I'm your age and I'm so glad I've found another person who doesn't follow these horrific norms for our generation. I can't tell if it's an extreme uprising of insecurities in kids and pre-teens or if they are just following examples set by the internet, but their parents need to say NO. If I ever do get skincare, I will NOT be using those testers, it's FOUL. The poor employees should get a raise for all the inhumane treatment they get every day.

I’m Korean and a mother. What kind of parents let their 10-12 year daughter wear a makeup and do a skincare routine? What’s wrong with the parents in the US? No wonder most western women look like 40 by the time they turn 20. Smh

Also, not every Asian parent can afford instrument lessons. To keep me busy my mom makes me do house chores and take care of my siblings 💀
@@Mijah1016 skincare isn't the problem. Skin cancer is real and you can avoid many other problems by learning to take care of it (i do agree that what these kids are doing is way too much for their age). Makeup on the other hand is the real problem. Adult women use it to cover up certain imperfections or to look more attractive in order to attract a partner. Little girls don't need to be adultifying themselves like that or worrying about beauty like this. They'll only become more insecure or develop body dysmorphia. I know grown women who CAN'T go out without a full face of makeup. I can't even imagine what this will do to this little girls.
My mall created a rule that anyone 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Younger kids were being dropped off at the mall to run around like it was a playground. They were getting into trouble, messing up displays, and, even if they were behaving, it wasn't safe for them to be alone. The amount of teens who are causing fights was also increasing. The rule has been in place for a few years and it's completely improved the shopping experience for the better. Unfortunately, the amount of people at the mall has went down, but the overall atmosphere has gotten better. I haven't seen this behavior at my local Ulta's but I attribute that to the age restrictions.
Kids that are unaccompanied at a mall; that's a predators wildest dream.

"If you always follow someone else's idea of happy, you'll never be happy." That's what I say

At the same time that I want people younger than I am to realize that not everyone needs things like this until they’re older. The adults in the equation need to teach the kids etiquette. Unless the adult has never been to Sephora, you would think the kids would be told ahead of time about testers and how to use them properly or would at least stop their kid before letting them destroy testers. Sephora could also come up with ways to inform the young customers as well. There are certainly worse things the kids could be interested in than skincare.

Parents who are buying this stuff for their preteens…YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!!! They do NOT need them!! These kids are going to be monstrous adults…absolutely ludicrous🤦🏻♀️
I live in France and >10 year olds dont have tablets or acces to the internet. Neither with tv, it’s very rare to see children allowed to watch more than 30 min of tv unless is the weekend. And 10 years old play with toys and in the dirt and don’t care about fashion/skincare/makeup yet. I find it a little disturbing how in the us children are treated as adults and have free acces to the internet.
Even babies get to watch cartoons on tablets in Malaysia since it's "the only way to get little ones to behave in public". I never got a phone until 6th grade for a field trip to different states and even that was an old keypad phone so no access to the internet even if I wanted to. Got my first smartphone when I was 15 because the teachers kept giving homework on the student website and my mom was told that I will be expelled if I failed to hand in another assignment given on the website. I was mocked for being behind on the times when I didn't know how to do certain things on a laptop and smart TV.
@@mila5796 and then Muslims online, including Malaysia, say that Islam is going to save Western civilizations, when they are worse at monitoring their childrens screen time than us😂 it's so funny
👌🏻
@@pikapi6993 it's because popping a screen in front of them is easier than putting toys and trying to entertain the baby for the entire duration of the meal. Also they don't want to take turns eating or have a baby throwing a tantrum. The only issues I have with my baby are his grabby hands and turning everything in sight into drums(including the table and high chair)
Looking at France's immigrant crisis and Paris burning every other week:
Who cares about biological french parents not able to afford an iPad?
Kids dont need beauty products. Also they have nothing to do at Sephora. Period.
