My son in Nebraska has been dealing with strong winds, tornadoes and grass fires. I truly hope things have been better for you in Kansas. God bless and keep growing!
Watched this earlier with my youngest. My dad farms in east central iowa. I know you are having to make tough decisions this year. (But when havent you?!) Sad that you had to sacrifice the wheat. No feed no milk or meat! My heart goes out to you all. I will pray that it rains when you need it. May Yah bless your entire family.
A fantastic video showing your good and bad with farming and what you are doing at the time. Will be looking forward to how you handle the rest this years crops, thanks.
Thank goodness you got some feed cut and some rain. I don't think a lot of people understand that when it's that dry it takes a lot of rain to get caught up.
Here in Queensland Australia we are struggling to get our corn and sorghum harvested we’ve had nothing but rain for the last few months and it’s very very wet here on our dairy farm in Queensland it’s even to wet to start planting winter crop
My Grandparents on my Mom's side was dairy farmers here in Pennyslvania. They did not have a large farm just 80 acres. The weather and weather conditions can be hard on farming at times. Either there is not enough rain for the crops to flourish or there is too much rain and drowns crops out. When one is farming they are at the mercy of Mother nature and whatever she sends ones way.
We have same problems with too little rain. Some parts of the Netherlands haven't see any rain for 2 months. We are starting on our winter ration because the gras in the meadow won't grow
sometimes I do think when its that dry, you may have only got an Inch a rain, but the air absorbed another half inch of rain before it ever got to the ground
How are your silage pits constructed? I was looking, and it looks like it has raw dirt sides, and floor. Am I correct? If so, do you get much spoilage on the bottom and sides?
I will throw my hat at someone when I'm serious. I have seen my uncle throw his pocket knife at someone (It was closed) I couldn't believe it and he hit the person 20 yards away. It was impressive and scary at the same time.

gosh when a truckload of silage makes your mouth water, it's lunchtime.

Figure out to chop cudzoo into silage you'll have all the feed you need and more cattle love it
Nice chopper and Direct head the way to go for sure as long the dry matter is there. labor efficiency at its finest
It would be nice if those of us in southeast Pennsylvania could give you some of our rain
I'll be in Manhattan in a couple weeks. Helping mom after surgery. I miss all the green. I've been in the desert too long.

I like the New Intro!!!

Damn, chopping wheat that will probably be $20/bushel by this fall? That's a tough decision!
Thankfully we only had to chop a little bit. Maybe 50 acres.
How much compaction do you get from the trucks on the field and is it noticeable every year?
It was so dry when we did this there was hardly any compaction
So why not grind round bales and add protein/corn hash? So you have a moister and you’re going to plant feed. Does that make sense?
We are running out of round bales too. Need all types of forage right now
Wish I could farm. Where is lil Fred?
97😮 I'm swetting and we only got 85...
Will this be fed green or packed and covered to ferment?
Packed and covered to ferment 👍
3 brothers and your father?! What’s your secret for working well together?
Hi
They be walking
Do this is how we roll by Florida Georgia line and call it this is how we farm
You guys ever directly graze?
Yes we have some out grazing on triticale right now but needed some silage too
