In today's college football the offenses have all the advantages, but this georgia defense still found a way to perform at an all time level. 2016 Alabama and it’s not even debatable. Every single player on that roster was a super star and that team set a record I believe of playing more ranked teams than any other team in history. This UGA team played in a very mediocre division against mismatched competition that couldn’t compete and struggled with the skeleton of a rebuilding Alabama team for three and a half quarters when this same Alabama team demolished them in a single half when healthy.

"they’ve got like 100 5-star football players on their defense. They have a defensive lineman that weighs 340 pounds and runs better than anybody on this call. They’ve got 5-star defensive backs. They’re big, physical and fast. Other than that, they’re really freakin’ good. That’s why they’ve got the top defense in the country. They’re hard to run the football on. There wasn’t some magical scheme they came out with tonight. They’ve got 5-star recruits everywhere and they play really physical.”

I love the point you made about the offenses Georgia faced in 2021. Playing defense is so hard these days. Decades ago, you really only had to worry about one offense a week. One week you'd play a wishbone team, the next week might be a split-back veer team or an I-bone. In the 90s you might see the air raid added to that list. Offenses now are an amalgamation of so many styles. Couple that with the no-huddle and you have a mountain of challenges for the defense. Around 2010, I really thought truly great defenses were becoming a thing of the past.

Well Ga will have 4 first rounds picks off that D line when Jalen Cater gets drafted. Wyatt, Davis, Carter and Walker. That will be 6 first round picks. If Smith and Ringo are 1st round picks that would be 8 off the Defense. Has 8 players been drafted in the 1st round off the Same College Team? If Adam Anderson didn’t get in trouble 6 would have went in the 1st round last season.

The 2022 dawgs will be a much different team than this 2021 defensively lead team. The 2021 UGA defense was the best defense I have ever seen in college football, and only 2nd to the 1985 bears team in shear dominance thru the season.
The 2022 version will be led by the offense this year and it will be a great offense, possibly one of the best to come thru UGA in decades, maybe even ever when it's all said and done. I expect the defense to still be a top 10, possibly top 5 defense by the end of the year. Which should compliment the high octane offense we will be running this season as well. I expect the defense to give up about 15 to 18 pts a game. Now, the offense is gonna score a shit ton of points, and I expect them to average 45 pts a game!! YES!! Average 45 pts a game for the season!!! I dont think they will score less than 2 TD's in any game either.
So offense scores 45 pts a game and the defense gives up about 17 pts a game..... Thats a 28 point advantage on average for every game! With the pretty weak schedule they have this season as well, I expect them to go 12-0 in the regular season, unless they just flat out shit the bed 1 game with 5 turnovers and 20 penalties. lol
Postseason I expect to go the same way as this year...kinda
Yes UGA plays in the seccg but this time they win it by outscoring bama 52-41....which keeps bama out of the playoffs as well!!
Not ready to predict the playoff games since I dont know the opponenet but I'm sure UGA will show up and show out in those games as well!!!
    GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

We lost 15 to the draft last year, and this new UGA team are all monsters!!!! Sure there is some development still going all. However with all the recruits who want to play for Smart, The DAWGS are looking to be the heavy hitters of the SEC. So long as we have Coach Smart UGA will be a top contender for years to come!
