Thank you Captain, and beautiful TotalRock host! All of the members of The Damned, and particularly Captain, Raymond Burns have had a profound influence on my love of good music. As the Captain refers to-Punk is a mentality, not a fashion!!! True Damned fans are not POSERS!
I had a very surprising encounter with Captain Sensible and The Damned in Derby in the late 90's. Myself and some friends who were a group of DJ's and producers were invited to put on a radio appearance and to get to the station premises involved passing through the, what was then called, The Future Club. To get to where the station was run from meant we had to pass through the changing rooms part of the building to get to it and I found myself face to face with this guy. Completely surprised. He seemed alright.
Captain Sensible of The Damned features in our video here re the end of music in St Giles Circus where the Damned once recorded in the early 1980's. The Elizabeth Line/Crossrail sought little or no public consultation re the destruction of 8 music venues lost to Crossrail in St Giles Circus by Charing Cross Rd/Tottenham Court Rd. Compulsory Purchase Orders ended the life of these successful Music Venues in St Giles Circus by Tin Pan Alley, which has also been decimated; namely The Astoria, The London Astoria 2, The Metro Club and SIN aka The Ballroom: amid four more lost in Denmark Place and Denmark St where CPO's were not issued. The Gentrification of Tin Pan Alley, London? Taken off YT. The uploader back then was called Wattage. They were playfully kicking the bubble. Backing track to The Dog like a spaghetti western soundtrack. Sensible with the Black Album t shirt swigging ale out a jug. Where do you live? Cardiff? Take your train fare and f* off. Incompetent amateur...
Mr Sensible, IMO 'Wot' was a cool tune and I like your individuality. However, allow me to explain a brief history of fcuked up Socialist regimes: The Soviet Socialist Republic (mass Genocide, forced labour), Chinese Socialist Republic (Mass Genocide, forced labour), German National Socialism (Mass Genocide, forced labour).... Seems that socialism is as corrupt as the rest of the political trickery that the true powers that be use on the masses. They thrive on our collective narcisism and ignorance. 'Rock on!'
Yeah, Punk's all about dressing down and i'm a socialist cos i don't believe in 1st and 2nd class on the train.... Now get your work overalls on and back to work in the Gulag you peasants or i'll have u shot!!!
Socialism is bollocks,.. Punk offered nothing new, it's a myth, I love the music, but anyone who takes this clown and punk serious is seriously out of touch with reality. Malcolm is laughing in his grave.
@@ScoopedMids he doesnt sound offended...just telling some truth. socialism is a sad joke... I'd forgive these blokes in the industry because artists are idealists..but..

Great interview. Cap's a Legend and always has been and the interviewer was top notch too.
What a classy gent.
Thoroughly decent fellow, sang with him in a impromptu chorus of "Dozen Girls" whillst in a pub.
he was a huge influence in my teenage years back in the 80ties

The clip i was refering too was Captain in a bubble stark naked playing his guitar.
Yup. THAT one. Red Strat. Bit of genius.
I can't quite tell, does Captain like Green Day, is he being sarcastic. I hope so. Green Day and The Damned are in my top 5 favorite bands.
