I just realized that many younger viewers might not recognize the cylinder Grayson gave to Vander, and how it works. It's a pneumatic tube transport system. The cylinders are sent through pipes with air pressure. Very steam-punky 19th century tech and rare nowadays.
@@lyrebirb83 Don't know about banks. But a large hospital where I live still have it. They even modernized it recently. Pneumo tubes can do something no modern computerized system can: It can send (small) physical objects, like lab samples, from one end to the other within a minute or so.
... but they used to be common in all kinds of office buildings, factories, large shops, etc, mostly as a mail service, for sending documents. All that have been replaced by computers and networks of course.
I'm so happy that you recognize that Deckard (Draco Malfoy) is just a kid. A lot of reactors write him off as a thug villain, without acknowledging the tragedy of such a young life being consumed into a system too big and too dark for him to handle. Also, Vander might not be blood related, but he is Dad. Lastly, Marcus is such an underrated antagonist, and I'm glad you took the time to talk about him, and how Silco singled him out. He is self-righteous, eager to prove himself, and frustrated at any obstacle that gets in his way. I've met people like that. They always have the potential to be a volatile powder keg, if someone grants them enough power to go to their head. ...but, like Greyson, he's not cartoonishly evil. He is ambitious and prejudiced, but still operates within the constraints of the system, even if Silco is tempting him over the edge.
The Lady Cop, Grayson, gave vander a messagebottle that would reach 'only her' Vi has a talk with vander shortly after, the message bottle gets send to Grayson After this, they seem to know where Vi is, but Vander hasn't send the message, or he wouldn't be as calm. This part is a bit confusingly shot, but I think it implies that Vi send the Bottle to grayson, giving herself up, because she took Vanders "If we fight, poeple die" speech plus his "If people look up to you, you're responsible" speech to heart and think she can save Powder by sacrificing herslef.
also, dont forget the last interaction between Vi + Powder. Giving someone your favourite toy and ending with "always remember that", then leaving also sends a message. you can see in Powders reactions that she understands it, which explains why she sits around being sad
One thing this show does well is the concept of "show don't tell". Its really great that a show respects the intelligence of its audience by not stopping to tell you everything like you're a dumb three year old. Unfortunately, this show is absolutely packed with moments like this so you really have to be on your toes to catch everything. The kid and his mom being teleported by the mage at the beginning was Jayce and his mom. His mother was frostbitten in that shot, which is why two of her fingers are covered in metal prosthetics in the future. The crystal the mage gave Jayce, he now wears on the band on his wrist. As many have said, Vi stole the message for Grayson from Vander and is in the process of turning herself in. Silco (The messed up eye) and Marcus have separate a side deal. The lanes is not Silco's area. Its the lowest part of the fissure the undercity is built into. It includes the Benzo's, The Last Drop (Vander's bar), and Singed's lab (Singed is the guy making shimmer, the purple stuff), and at least some of Silco's businesses. What little we do know about Vi and Powder's parents is that they died in the rebellion. Vander obviously knew the parents, because when the girls showed up on the bridge, he looked at their mother's corpse before looking down in shame then scooping them up and taking them away. It can also be assumed that Mylo and Claggor are also Orphans. Possibly Ekko as well, though he was taken in by Benzo. Quite a few people died in that rebellion, which is Vander's turning point. I'm also gonna disagree with you, Heimerdinger isn't right. While some science may be reckless, Heimerdinger repeatedly shows a great overabundance of caution. To the point that he is complacent and his thirst for advancement is stagnant. He refuses to release an advancement unless its perfect and thereby doesn't address current problems. Often its better to have an imperfect solution now than a perfect solution later. Jayce sees potential to help people. He is unfortunately a little reckless, but that's because his hand is forced. Ex: his dangerous materials are in his apartment, not a lab because magic is a taboo field of study. So he isn't right either. There's a middle ground. But I tend to side more towards Jayce than Heimer.
Thank you for this comment! So much amazing info, I really appreciated it. As for your last point, Heimerdinger strikes me as someone incredibly jaded due to his past and he unfortunately falls prey to the temptation that a lot of the council-members do, which is to simply sit idly by, living a lavish and comfortable lifestyle, while those in Undercity are suffering. He cannot see beyond his own experience and is definitely blinded by his own fear of the past repeating itself. Super amazing points, thank you! -Stella, WNR
@@stellaa_rrose I mostly agree with that. The only part I'd contend is: unlike the other councilors I think Heimer is less a victim of temptation, and is actually just oblivious. Weird to say about the smartest guy in the city, but its true. He doesn't know about a lot of the problems and the ones he does know, he doesn't realize how bad they are. Unfortunately the reasons I say this are in later episodes (5&8). I'm not sure how far in advance you record/edit these so I'll keep it to myself to avoid spoilers. One thing I can point out from the current episodes though is that he receives limited information. We the audience see everything, but he doesn't. Grayson, certainly isn't telling the council about her deal with Vander. Knowing the council as she does, how much do you think she withholds? Based on the aggressive reactions they push, I imagine there is a lot she hasn't told them for fear of how they'd retaliate against the undercity. There are also later reasons why info gets withheld from the council but again, spoilers. One thing this show does well, is that everything ties together across the episodes. Its really well done. The downside is that I've found it really hard to talk about most things in the show because of spoilers. To all reactors: watch faster! I hate holding my tongue. I like discussion. I never thought I'd be this frustrated by a show being great. Its miserable. LOL.
Love your insights on how the caracters are writen, 'cuz it's true, they're all kind of grey, not all black nor all white. Want to see you continue the series ♡♡
vi giving powder her animal she retrieved from the electric wires and saying never forget that ok was her basically saying good bye, and the only person who had access to the message tube was vander which vi took to turn herself in its not a spoiler you just didnt catch onto the messaging, oh you also see it in vanders face in the bar when he sees the old toy that vi got back and gave to powder, the look of oh shit on his face when he picked it up meaning he figured out what was going on
I think the show makes a really good point of showing that there is not 'right' way to handle the Situation anymore. Things between Piltover and The Undercity have gone so wrong by this point, that there is no way out. If the Undercity does nothing, like Vander sais, they die slowly, each day, poisoned by the air, the water and living in squalor because they don't have anything else. If they fight like Vi sais, hunddreds will probably die on both sides and it is doubtful that any sort of resolution can be made that wouldn't be strenuos at best. It is a lose lose situation at this point, unless someone is willing to step back, or forgive, both of which seems unlikely.
Amazing reaction! FYI Vi used the cylindrical container Grayson gave to Vander to contact her to turn herself in. That's how the enforcers know where she's at; in case you didn't find out yet. You may be already ahead in your Patreon. Cheers! 🍺
Violet (Vi) and Powder are blood sisters; it was their parents dead in the opening of episode one. The man entering the dorm room is Jayce who was the child in the flashback which was god’s introduction to magic. Silco is a great villain and just you wait, you haven’t seen anything yet. I really enjoyed your reaction and cannot for your next one. By the way, I would cosplay either Ekko or Heimerdinger.

The message container that Grayson received at the end (which makes her say "perhaps it's not too late" (to avoid a bloody conflict)) was the one given to Vander by Grayson. At the end Vi is waiting for their arrival. That's the information at this point. Take what you will from it, but it doesn't imply the antagonist's involvement. The earlier visit by Marcus to the Last Drop, that was due to the antagonist's involvement in meeting with Marcus.
Arcane is just magic; wizards, sorceress, mages, etc exist in the world. The topside and the lanes is the nation of Pilthover, which is only a small nation of a really massive world. You have to remember Pilthover was stated to been created to escape the warmongerings of mages.

'Arcane' doesn't require you to now about League of Legends, but it does ask you pay attention- and you' seem to be keeping up with it fine right now. The show does a good job of being nuanced; it's all people with different views and there's no real 'right or wrong'.
As a heads up I'd be careful with the intro music in particular, I think UMG holds the licence or something as it's Imagine Dragons and a couple of reactors seem to have had copyright strikes/claims for it Edit: Actually finished the video now and you have a lot of really nice insights. You are in luck with wanting to look more into who wrote the show as they are in the process of releasing Bridging the Rift, a docuseries behind the making of Arcane which I believe has had 2 parts come out so far
Yeah... This is a lesson in storytelling which you could probably learn from, Stella. Missing what's going on at the end was not good for a reaction. We have a lot of acting that's not done with dialog but with it's body posture and facial expressions. The only bit of dialog you needed was Vi's speech to Powder and giving her the doll and even that you may not have needed that as her looks on the bridge may have informed us that she has learned the lesson and knows what she's going to do. The set up is very good with the tube being delivered and we're to believe it's Vander who used it. Powder and Vander's scene and Vi breaking into Benzo's tells the rest of the story. Powder is sad that Vi is leaving, Vander is trying to cheer Powder up till he realizes what the doll is and Vi is bouncing her knee and is like a prisioneer waiting for the executioner. All done with out a word. Masterful storytelling and animation. Vander is really grooming Vi to be a leader but she's still too young to fully understand it, until probably this point, where I think it's awesome that she took it upon herself to protect everyone else. Hero in my book.
