We invest in our fragrances and understand the complexities of them…they are seriously these amazing treasures but then for me the actual compliments come from some of the most standard, BASIC….and a lot of times cheap(er) fragrances. So frustrating haha!! I bought SJP Lovely bc of RUclips and the compliments did not stop. I was like what?! I think you may find this funny. I did. I had sprayed the smallest spritz possible of MOTH on myself and went to work. After a couple hours there I noticed that a young lady I work with had a quizzical look on her face. She approached me and asked “ Do you smell paint remover?” I assured her that I did not.
It's funny because although I love the smell, I'm honestly struggling at the moment to wear my Moth (even just the smallest spritz possible) but my husband and son beg me to keep it. They would both steal it off me in a heartbeat if they could. My son is 10 by the way lol. Maybe I'll try wearing it to work and see what happens.

I’m 50 now but I remember wearing the original La Perla 25 years ago - I’ve come a long way since then haha but I remember how good it made me feel and the attention I got. It made me feel so confident & unique. I love how you describe fragrances & your passion for it! ❤️
My most complimented, by far, is Rentless from Lush's Gorilla perfumes. Once, a woman confirming my spa appointment who said was distracted because I smelled so good and she had to know what it was. Happens all the time with Rentless. And PS: Gorilla Perfumes' Lord of Misrule has a distinct Play-Doh smell to me also. It's patchouli and black pepper, but somehow serves Play-Doh.
I've found that for me a couple different styles of fragrances usually get complement's. Citric Neroli fresh clean type scents. Vanillic sweet notes combined with fresh clean notes in a fragrance. Gourmand Sweet. Autumnal spice blend type scents mixed with fresh or sweet. These all garner the most attention for me especially when they are good projectors.

My most complimented scents are BABYCAT by YSL, RAGHBA by Lattafa, MOUSSE ILLUMINÉE by Rogue, MAAI by Bogue, DIVIN' ENFANT by Etat libre d'Orange & THE MAJESTIC JARDIN by Alexandre J 😃😍 They are all screamers and unusual: it works!

Too funny...this is so true!!! I have a gigantic collection and yet my jlo glow has hands down been my most complimented fragrance. I avoided buying it for the longest time because it smelled like hairspray to me... That’s one I wear in the heat because it comes off really fresh smelling Thanks for sharing!!
Us frag heads love the challenging edgy scents but it's the pretty mass appealing ones that most like. My most complimented scent is a super cheapie called Tracy by Ellen Tracy. No lie I get raves with every wear

Compliments are overrated but I stilll like to be aware that I don’t offend/disgust people with my fragrance. Some fragrances overdo it with the animalic notes and up smelling so bad

I wonder if theres a correlation between people who don`t know or care much about fragrance being the ones who would most likely bother to comment on a perfume, and those same people having a more basic palate for and sheer sensitivity to perfume. A fraghead might notice a more complex and subtle perfume but also know firsthand how potentially intimate commenting on it could be, while Jimmy Passerby might only be able to notice a liberally applied, obviously pleasant perfume, and have no qualms about being like HEY YOU SMELL NICE point blank.

I don't get very much compliments for my fragrances. But I was surprised that I was complimented a few times when I was wearing Lignum Vitae by Beaufort. Didn't expect this.

Compliments are overrated when you get plenty of them! When you're not used to it, it feels so good. But just like negative comments and anti-compliments, I feel like we should keep in mind that the only people whose opinions matter are the people we love (and ourselves).

I do think compliments are over rated. Simply becuz sometimes ppl are not just getting complimented becuz of the perfume but also how attractive the man/woman is that is wearing the perfume. If a man who some would think is not all that attractive is wearing the most amazing cologne he won't get as many compliments as to a man who comes along wearing the same cologne that is wearing a suit and is consider attractive. Sad but true.
So true. Also try layering it with either Chloe or Florabotanica. Either of the 2 on your skin or inner garments and Roses Greedy on your outer wear. If you do try these combinations please let me know how you liked them.
