      @@motorcyclefreedomyes, gpx file is on a thumb drive. Not in a folder, just the file itself. It’s the only file on the drive and I formatted the drive first.

      @@motorcyclefreedomyes, I added 2 mp3 files and a wav file to the thumb drive. I plugged it back into the USB plug on the bike and it instantly started playing the music. I took screenshots of the menu showing what I see but can’t upload them.

    I've done everything as you've shown. I made sure I formatted the thumbdrive before I put a single gpx file on it. When I try to import the gpx file, it says NAV database full. I have no other trips on this system. It's a 2014 triglide. I looked for previously saved trips, addresses, and everything else I could think of that might take up space. All of those "buttons" or categories showed nothing when I selected them.

      Well when I was reading what you were saying and it said to nav was full I thought great we can clear the routes but you say there's nothing there to clear only thing I could think of is somehow get ahold of Harley and let them guide you to the right place to go because this has got me lost something isn't right

    How can I export my saved route from a web based Google Maps so I can put it on a thumb drive?

  • @timeforme3604

    How do I upload a route to the Harley Boom Box (pre 2019) and have the navigation system follow the roads you've selected? Mine keeps overriding my route. I thought changing the internal settings to longest might work but I only have the options of scenic, fastest, shortest or twisty. I tried scenic and that doesn't work either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, good evening. I found your website while doing some research. I need to update the GPS of my Ultra Harley. Here in Latin America, all the maps for the Harley Ultra are outdated, lacking highways from Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, and so on. My question is: Are the .gps files for maps or pre-defined locations? Do you know of any website where I can download maps of America, Europe, and so on? Thank you very much for your help!"

    I created a custom route with HD Ride Planner that consist of approx 65 via points (not locations) when I went to load it to the Boom Box 6.5 GT it kept restarting the system and only one via point. Tried it again and restarted the system. After doing that several times I gave up. A few hours later I find it in the Trips with all via points. Is this normal?

      I use base camp to make my routes, but I have heard my buddies say that they have changed it recently and they are having problems too...

    • @FMJFilmMedia
      @FMJFilmMedia 6 лет назад

      I am a long time user of Basecamp but I heard that uploading to Boom Box may mess up the exact route created b/c Garmin has regular map updates while Boom doesn't update maps unless you buy it for an unreasonable charge. But that really isn't the issue in my original post. It is uploading it to the Box and acting crazy.

      Only other thing I can think of I have to zoom way in when I put my way point in or it will put like a spur in my route if I am off any.

      motorcyclefreedom, I will try a new local route and give that a shot. Some of the "letter" roads here in WI are anything but straight. You can't trust the stupid thing as it kicks you all over. Will report back.

    Last input for now, I have difficulty doing the routes in google maps. I sometimes have to put in a lot of Way points to keep it on track. Is that normal?

    • @motorcyclefreedom
      @motorcyclefreedom  7 лет назад

      Larry Hauser I usually use Base Camp (Garmin Sofwear) and yes at times I gotta put a lot of way points in to keep it on track but one thing I noticed on base camp if you got the motorcycle icon showing at the top of the page .....change it to the automobile for driving I notice I don't have to put as many waypoints in then.....

    • @motorcyclefreedom
      @motorcyclefreedom  7 лет назад

      Larry Hauser You know Larry I read that wrong you are talking just about Google maps sometimes what does help as you put your starting point in and put your destination in now Google maps is gonna show route to get there but it's not the route you want you want some back roads man so now I will use Google street view and check out some of these roads then what I do is click on it and drag it to those roads I want When you get a lotta different roads sometimes you do run out of waypoints sometimes you can remove 1 or 2 and it doesn't change to route and sometimes you gotta make 2 maps 1 to get there and 1 to get back but I have run into that....

      @@motorcyclefreedom Thanks for the response. I've had some problems with other GPS's and they couldn't "Read" the USB pen drive - turns out it was formatted in the wrong way. If you look to Format a pen drive you'll see the options there, just fyi. Really great videos by the way, thanks again.

    I tried using Google maps the other day to make a route, kind of a p.i.t.a. I think. I only have a Garmin as my bike doesn't have gps built in (2012 Ultra). Hopefully your coming video will help me input the route into the Garmin (not a Zumo though). Nice stickers.

    • @motorcyclefreedom
      @motorcyclefreedom  7 лет назад +1

      Mike E when I use Google maps only use that to make a map knowing what kind of roads we will be riding on.....but I can't import that into my GPS, I can't convert it into a gpx file. Now there is software out there to do that but it did not work that good for me. Making my map in Google Maps also allows me to find restaurants gas stations etc.... when I finish my Google I open my base camp map side by side and manually transphere the route. Now there is Harley Road Harley Road Planner that is very close to Google maps and gives you satellite view and converts the map to a gpx file. But no street view....

      Mike BigEasyRider O yeah as far as Google maps on your phone it like a GPS as long as you're just going to a destination it is great but you're right no routes

      Correct, just for destinations on the phone, actually also I have a Garmin I can pre set routes, but will not pair with the Sena for voice, only visual .

    Did you take my advice and use two different women voices so you have multiple women telling you made the wrong turn. Just think you could have both GPS saying recalculating and you wife and Jr. Ranger wife on the CB telling you that you made a wrong turn all at the same time. 😬

      motorcyclefreedom Sunday I watched the video where you made the wrong turn into a round about driveway. With the big dog behind the bush. When you got turned around and all those bikes that had followed. I laughed and replayed it again. I led a ride on Veterans Day and made a wrong turn, with no GPS and it was cold. I kept hearing them ask me on the CB how close are we.... finally i got us back on route.

    • @motorcyclefreedom
      @motorcyclefreedom  7 лет назад +1

      Larry Hauser lol....I remember that, couldn't figure out why the dog didn't already bite me, found out he had a shocker collar on (electric premiter fence).....me and Ed when we made wrong turns leading a group we would just point at things, old churches, nice homes, even trees and it would keep everybody's attention they thought it was part of the ride......NOT ANY MORE....most everybody has the route on their GPS and they know when you made a wrong turn...
