That flight attendant could have closed the door.
Or she could have just NOT opened the door and called through the cabin phone and told the pilots of the danger. That is what should have been done since it is the proper procedure in the event of an emergency AND should have been learned in-training. Then the pilots could contact ATC and be landed immediately to the closest destination, and police would be ready to detain the shooter. The door to the cockpit is locked very securely to prevent access of possible dangers to reach the pilots so they can still fly the plane... (a feature that was considered a necessity after 9/11) Even then, none of the passengers tried to land/fly the plane or fight the guy, which could have saved their lives since there’s an auto-land option (kind of like auto-pilot). Auto-land is used when it’s foggy out and pilots can’t see.

Smaller airliners like the BAE-146 shown here don’t have cockpit doors, it’s just a doorway.
Aarow Thomas seriously?
joosii / Yup, it’s also important to remember that this happened in 1987, when
1. Hijackers never crashed the plane, they just forced the pilots to land at the nearest airport, then held the passengers hostage for ransom (think DB Cooper)
2. Hijackers just didn’t target smaller planes, if they want a ransom, they get more money for more hostages
3. Hijackings in general were super rare and not really considered a problem.
4. The space between the galley and the cockpit was so small, a door would be difficult to fit.
Aarow Thomas, my dad used to be a commercial pilot in the soviet union and it was very strict that pilots and crew knew how to respond to a hijacking, they would even have a combat tokarev locked away in case of a hijacking and the pilots were rigorously trained to be able to neutralise the hijackers.
Rule #1... keep the bullet/fire proof door lock of the cockpit and CLOSED.
Ronan B the stupid bitch attendant opened it for the black guy to get in
C Gaines why would you assume that detail to be accurate? We don't know that for sure do we? This is a pretty bad depiction as it is, he could just as well have forced the door himself and shot the woman on the way.
+C Gaines If she didn't she would be sacked for racism
The can take C4s
Ronan B If I remember correctly, it was this event that led to the implementation of cockpit door locks.

yan formosa Thank you for this information.....

The acting of the first one who got shot
Can't take it🤣😂🤣

TheGamingParadise calm down dude he was an actor he really didn't get shot, shhhhh twinkle twinkle little star...... Nighty nighty annoying bitch
TheGamingParadise if it was actual footage then we wouldn't be laughing, stop being so sensitive. Exaggerated reenactments are always funny to watch, nothing you can do to change that.

Takes two shots without moving.
Then suffers a seizure and immediately dies.
Prayers up to the people who lost their lives and to the family’s of those people🙏🏻
Just wondering ... why would you pray for someone already dead?
As many delays and inconveniences modern airport security causes, we must remember that it exists to prevent things like this.
May all those who died in such a horrific way rest in peace.
Though didn’t airport security not get fully overhauled until after 9/11?
why did the flight attendant open the door?
To warn the pilots that there was a "problem" going on. The problem was a gunshot so the pilots would have landed the plane at an airfield and get him arrested but they failed so the pilots both got shot and the plane crashed.
It don't matter, they didn't have reinforced doors back then, he could have just kicked it in
Sounds like the opening to a stupid joke

the plane would have exploded the minute he gave his ex boss the note if Michael Bay directed this
-199 points, gay 4chan reference
When planes hit the ground going that fast the fuel gets dispersed before it can ignite. Look into it, a plane that hits the ground in a nose dive doesn't explode.

I'm a Brit, but feel like asking if u r Brits too, given such understatement! Yes, I know ur being ironic. But we should not underestimate the danger created by disturbed people, even though most with mental illnesses never cause such issues, and are abused and oppressed by so-called 'normal' people, more than vice versa. But whilst we generally spend too long picking on the non-dangerous unwell, we tend to downplay the warning signs of those who are a danger. Any actual threats or violence in the context of mental illness (or even in those with no obvious mental health issues), should be reported. The majority of mass murders, of all kinds, are usually hinted at prior by the perpetrator. Certainly not all threats will result in the threats being carried out, but should be reported for assessment anyway.

Don't forget the artificial gravity holding them in place as the plane nose dives
1:25 did they really use the half life revolver sound LMAO
I would've been more convinced if they used the zapping sounds from Galaga. Sheesh- at least that sounds more realistic!
It's possible that the "Half-Life" revolver sound is a stock sound is some forms of editing, like the Wilhelm Scream. Or perhaps the same type of revolver was used for both this scene and the HL sound effect?
omg lmao
Valve records their own audio and not from some stock sounds place, since the sounds are not copyrighted there are so many games, videos and movies which take sounds from HL2
How do you know what that sounds like lol
What a horror for the crew and passengers, the "I'm the problem" get's me everytime.
I remember that article in the newspaper. I’m glad to finally understand what happened. The company that I was working for lost a division president on that airplane.
