It's not just this one game against Japan - a massively underachieving German National Team has become almost a running joke in Germany since our 2014 World Championship. Löw hung on his position way, way too long and Flick unfortunately did not improve the situation one bit. A new spark is definitely needed.

What's really interesting is that the host and commentators are all talking about how bad Germany is.
They probably only think that they lost to Japan, a team from a corner of Asia that doesn't even know football, because of a mistake in the head coach's direction.
If this is still the image of Japan in Europe, Japan may never lose to Germany in the future.

In my opinion, the reason national teams aren't performing as well as they used to is because players don't seem as proud or passionate about representing their countries anymore. I'm not talking about extreme political views, just that deep sense of pride in wearing their national jerseys.
These days, it looks like players care more about their club teams than their national squads. This is especially noticeable with Germany. If you look back to the 1990s or even earlier, German players would give their all, showing immense passion and commitment. Fans could feel that connection.
Unfortunately, that kind of passion doesn't seem as strong in today's game. Maybe it's due to changes in football itself or different tactics, but players also need to take some responsibility. Some of the current players don't seem to have that same burning desire. Perhaps they shouldn't be wearing their national jerseys if they can't ignite that old passion within themselves.
And let's not forget to give credit to Japan, they played their game and deserved the win.

A stark contrast to the German fans who seem to no really care. Hopefully Japan is also going to be able to play like this in tournament matches. But I am truly wondering why Flick choose such an experimental line up without many of the best and most experienced players of Germany and why he choose to play half his squad out of position. That makes zero sense considering his and Germany’s situation… They need positive moments right now. And I mean it can’t be that he underestimated Japan, after all many of the Japanese players and like all of their star players (including the goal scorers in this match) have been introduced to Europe by and in the Bundesliga first and were developed there before they were transferred to other clubs in Europe and many are actually still playing in Germany as of now… German coaches should be aware of the quality of Japanese players and that you should not be doing experiments in your match against them. Even when it is a friendly because as we know the Japanese are very nationalist people and they will give their all in every single match, does not matter if friendly or not. Maybe the Germans could and should learn from that attitude instead of playing such a half-ased match. Truly embarrassing for them.

Japan also won a landslide victory in the game with its skills and tactics, which can be seen from the game's content figures. As time goes by, the world's football gap is getting similar. The Western and global media should acknowledge this. Otherwise, we will be left out of the past and unable to move forward
