The alboreá is a festive cante that is based on the songs that the Andalusian gypsies sing in their wedding ceremonies. Its name refers to the gypsy word bori (bride) and boreá (to the bride), to whom it is sung to say goodbye to her family with the traditional yeli, yelitar, or gypsy word that means "she left" in allusion to the departure of the bride to her new family (that of the groom). In these songs, often references are made to the virginity of the bride.
