I recently got Lucky and got her M1 and noticed when i leveled my Anton to 50 and with her buff he did more damage than he usually did and it blew my mind! Rina is slept on definitely, even though she appears favorably in tier lists and other such lists the general population highly undervalues the sheer universality of her buffs. As you said in the video, Pen literally just applies to everyone. And if you can somehow get lucky, and get M1P1 Rina you will have legitimately the best support pound for pound in the game, similar to Caesar in the way she can slot into any team imaginable. I'm definitely picking up her first mindscape for my 300 standard pull if I dont get her before that.
I'll be honest, Rina was my first S-Rank and I have been severely neglecting her. I'd love to slot her into a team one day. Her gameplay is so fun with how easy she can resposition herself and launch ranged attacks.
I've been Team Rina since Day 1, because I knew that Pen Ratio would scale the harder enemies get. Using Jane/Grace/Rina(60/50/55), I was actually able to damage cap Inferno Reap (with a good Resonia loadout, although nothing crazy with only 62 Resonia). Dealt 143M damage to Nineveh, and she flew away with time left on the clock and no Wipeout screen.
When i started playing zzz, i already really liked her DESIGN, definitely in my top 3 but I didn't really care much about pulling her. After playing her story, she's now one of the characters I really want to pull in the standard banner. There's something about that story that made me a bit emotional.
As someone who has all 4 supports and are all decently built, all of them are excellent at what they do and excel in their respected team comps’s and even solid utility with teams without the Faction/Elemental bonuses.
Great video! Rina is often overlooked since a lot of reviews were made using low invested and early game content. She's not that bad and, personally, I believe the game will get harder with Future content and PEN will get valuable. Also, thanks for the shout out ❤
Great video! One other thing to note about the Pen. Ratio vs. Def. Shred argument: DPS characters can build Pen. Ratio into their stats but not Def. Shred. While both stats effectively decrease the defence of the enemy, Pen. Ratio and Def. Shred minimise each other’s gains if used simultaneously. As a result, with a Pen. Ratio Disk and W-Engine the P.R. builds gain way more damage that the D.S. builds completely miss out on. This is yet another factor that makes Pen. Ratio the preferred stat to currently build for the long run.
I think that Rina will shine after Caesar launch, cause Caesar can replace Soukakus atk buff on ellen team, and then you can play Rina on the third slot to get the pen ratio and activate both passives. Thats probably what im going to do
I've been seeing Rina's rise through the ranks and you said it best as well as other CC's invest in pen and reap the rewards. But with the first character releases we pretty much stayed out of that disc domain entirely. I do believe it was the players who got Soldier 11 and Rina early on and did the work that we get to see it for what it is now. Who knows maybe we'll see it rise even more with later releases
I might have to check the new enemies defence values each patch. If Rina's getting love with the speed runners now imagine when her buff is actually good relative to the other supports

it honestly does make sense that pen% isn't *that* good rn because we're not going against beefy enemies yet. even f2p builds shred enemies quickly, pen% definitely has high potential for the future
Now that all my main DPS is at lvl 60, I found that lvl 55 M0W0 Rina's buff is inferior to my lvl 50 M4 max atk Lucy. In terms of char model, Rina is better than Lucy 100%. Lucy needs to eat more, a lot more.
I honestly still don’t know if she’s actually good or not for a 5 star(unfortunately, i have S2 of her engine). Sometimes she outperforms, but sometimes she loses to Lucy or Nicole depending on the enemies, but she’s a 5 star and i rather not get any more of her engine lol. I think M1 does matter though, if you play a stun window dps that has long animation like Corin. Usually i use both ult and ex of Corin during enemy stun window and only either one can enjoy her buff, swapping sacrifices the duration(i can’t switch back because mobile version, maybe that’ll slightly help). I was kinda happy getting her and her sig because i thought she was Bronya tier, but i guess she’s only fine for a non min-maxer like me.
Rina was my first S rank and I love her. My *first* thought was that Pen would be universally and eternally useful; and I think that's accurate. Her kit is fun too especially when one works in quick assists and stacking her electric rain etc.

Lucy and rina's buff if played correctly will be up the entirety of the fight. Soukaku has really slow animations and conditions to get the full buff which adds quite abit of time loss.
i never really understood the purpose of PEN ratio stats, but now this makes sense, the only thing is missing is a S TIER AGENT that scales to PEN ratio.
Grace's W-Engine gives +Pen Ratio. I wonder how insane a Pen Ratio build on Grace + Rina would get. You'd be ignoring 24+24+30 -> 78% of an enemy's Def and Res.
I think that if she also gets another characters for an mono electric team, like a new attacker besides Anton, with anby/quingy as stunnes, people will like her, not only for the attack stat, but also for the extra dmg you can to to stunned enemies.
I got Rina during the Qingyi banner,, twice,, and no Qingyi! But honestly, I'm really happy about it now since she's become one of my favorite supports. She flows so well between characters and feels really good on my Ellen team. Not having to set up Soukaku and the switch skill that takes a year really makes a difference. But I really love her on my Rat Team of Jane/Seth/Rina. I usually switch between Rina and lucy, mostly depending on how i feel, both are amazing. And I swap my slot 5 Phys for Pen on Jane just to get more dmg with Rina, feels really good!

You just gotta spot the little fellas she sends, once they gone, buff is gone and time to reapply. It can get annoying sometimes with how cluttered of effects the screen can get, but hey, it is something. An indicator would be a Nice QoL tho
There's a little icon next to the energy bar that shows when Anastasia & Drusilla are on-field. Also, they stay out longer after an EX Special than a regular attack, although I haven't stopwatched the duration. It's somewhere between 5 and 7 seconds iirc.
I think pen builds will be more viable on Anomaly dps as there are more slots to roll it as a substat because they dont need Crit. The higher pen ratio is the more value flat pen will have.
I understand that, in theory, Pen is really good. However every time I compare a Pen disk 5 with an Attack or Element disk 5, I end up getting higher damage with the later. Rina's buff is always a good boost, but even with it all it does is reduce the gap between Pen and Attack, not eliminate or surpass it.
@@DeliciousOrange if your pen and attack disks have similar substats then yea pen will perform worse, but if you have a insane pen piece but your attack and elemental are significantly worse then stick with the pen Also like I said and showed in the video higher dmg doesn’t always lead to faster clears. i.e. Ellen fastest team for speed running is rina and her second fastest is Lucy, Soukaku’s Ellen team didn’t even make the top 10 in terms of clear speed and soukakau can boost Ellen’s damage the highest. This is simply because Soukaku can give more damage but she can’t push Ellen over the needed damage threshold to be “faster” so when u factor in soukaku’s extremly long animations then she is significantly slower if your trying to go for the fastest time possible
personally I think one of the contributers for Rina's bad rep in Zenless currently is that our main dps agents (Ellen, Zhu Yuan, Jane, Soldier, etc...) really want field time, something that Rina doesn't fit well in these type of teams. As you say her playstyle is "more quick swap based" so I think depending on how things will go in the future quickswap teams will be viable in zenless lategame, with Rina being one of the main faces of this team archetypes
Rina has the second highest attack out of all my agents. So when I need two teams I stick her on the team without 11. But I feel like Rina is versatile enough to be used with 11 and Ben as well.
In a stream you recently said that physical/ fire and ether/ electric work together well. Could you make a video going into detail on why that is? It would also be relevant as the sons of calydon are all phy/ fire
I feel Electric and Ether works because of the long duration of Shock complementing the short duration of Corruption. Shock has the longest duration of effect among Anomalies while Corruption is down in the bottom Assault. The same can be said between Scorch and Assault. In theory, Anomalies can virtually work together since there aren't really any direct drawbacks from pairing one element with another. However, once you take into account the duration and the effects of each anomaly, it starts to make sense why certain pairs "feel" good together. While there isn't much existing variation (due to a lack of agents with certain roles for each element) to fully test this, what we do have right now is the pairing of Fire and Physical. The consistency of Scorch's DoT and the sudden of Assault damage _feels_ really great together. For me personally, it is all just feels to me, however that feeling also makes sense.
I rerolled 6 times trying to snipe her but all I got was Neko or Koleda.. I was even not that happy when I got Grace from standard banner a few days ago, as I still think Rina is a much better unit to support my Jane Doe.. Hopefully I can get her soon Thanks for the great video
I use Rina in my Jane and Seth team. But because of Seth, I feel like rarely get to use Rina's ex skill because of Seth's weird swap out. Plus, there are so many assist swap outs with Jane and Seth. That the only time I can use Rina is through the chain attack. Maybe i just haven't figured out the optimal swap out for this team
Try getting seth meter full then don’t spend it yet, swap to rina cast her abilities, quick assist to Jane do an ex special and swap to Seth use his meter then back to Jane
The thing is Soukaku gives so much Daze with her 3-4 EX skills, while applying freeze and giving ATK+ shreds Ice resistance at M4. How can Rina’s pen hold a candle to ALL THAT. Nicole has grouping and fast on field time on top of the def shred with her wengine also giving atk to the team.
Soukaku feels incredibly slow compared to Rina, so it sort of depends on how you are using her. I'm still debating on trying Nicole. I ended up with M6 with her but have never really used her ever...

There is a team with Grace/Rina/Qingyi in top 5 clears 😮. How? I have been trying to make Grace/Rina work but she doesnt buff Grace dmg at all, when I use Rina Ex special then swap to Grace and shock the enemy, I'm getting lower or same dmg ticks cause Rina Ex special fills like 1/4th of enemy's anomaly then the final result dmg is shared between her and Grace, instead of filling the whole anomaly with just Grace. And if I shock first with Grace then Rina Ex, the shock ticks don't even get buffed at all. I can't make this 2 work together and is frustrating cause they are the only 2 standart Chars I have gotten, and the third was the goddamn Rina W-engine, the Game wants me to play Rina but I can't find good use for her :/. My other team is Zhu yuan/Anby/Nicole, so really no room for Rina in neither team.
Is this taking into account the mindscape passives? I know that an M6 Nicole can recharge very quickly and getting one is pretty easy compared to getting an M6 Rina. Those passives really do make quite the difference
Testing on Piper shows that pen/element/atk on D5 are all very close to each other on her. It's more a testament of how well made Piper that she can use all 3 with little difference. Or rather how little that disc main stat on her matters when D4/6 give anomaly and built in power stacking in her kit. That said armor pen has always been a requires very high investment to work properly in almost every game. Problem D5 is the only real source of Pen ratio and the sub-stat system is absolutely horrible. If there was a method to get the exact stats you wanted and slowly work them up would be much better than slamming into the rng slots that discs currently. That would make pen ratio far more useful as you could focus on getting it much close to max values. Pen ratio main stat needs to be offered on multiple dics for it to worth pursuing. Also you DO need Rina's M1. She simply doesn't work as well without it. Sure you can play around it but she is an S-rank support. She should be head and shoulders above the rest of the A-rank supports but she's not. Her buff timers are a part of the problem, which is something her M1 helps a ton on. Lucy has better buff timers and soon to be released Caesar is an insanely better "support" than Rina. Don't fool yourself or others with cope. Rina needs her M1, it should of been part of her baseline for how she plays.

I'm thinking about running Rina and Nichole together... Not sure how it will work. I have an M6 Nichole but she is only level 30, so I am still debating putting the resources into making her more useful. Right now I have zero anomaly or ice agents that are very usable... Only fire and electric.

I actually really don't think Soukaku is that good. Her buffs take 10 years to get the full benefit of lol. Doesn't feel great in end game content where bosses wont let soukaku ex special 3 times.

Yea, you would basically keep wingyi in field for tanks enemies and get her full buff stacked up and then chain attack with Ellen into Rina and cancel qingyi chain attack and just attack with Ellen after that. But very squishy enemies you can just straight up kill with Ellen no need for qingyi’s buff

But it was way to powerful so they made it a separate multiplier and not shred as much defense as before to tone it down. Pre nerf it was the best in slot 5th for every DPS agent, elemental dmg bonus couldn’t compete

The only support in the game were you don't have to hold the skill button down. Just tap n switch. Feels incredible.

I understand that, in theory, Pen is really good. However every time I compare a Pen disk 5 with an Attack or Element disk 5, I end up getting higher damage with the later. Rina's buff is always a good boost, but even with it all it does is reduce the gap between Pen and Attack, not eliminate or surpass it.
@@DeliciousOrange if your pen and attack disks have similar substats then yea pen will perform worse, but if you have a insane pen piece but your attack and elemental are significantly worse then stick with the pen
Also like I said and showed in the video higher dmg doesn’t always lead to faster clears. i.e. Ellen fastest team for speed running is rina and her second fastest is Lucy, Soukaku’s Ellen team didn’t even make the top 10 in terms of clear speed and soukakau can boost Ellen’s damage the highest.
This is simply because Soukaku can give more damage but she can’t push Ellen over the needed damage threshold to be “faster” so when u factor in soukaku’s extremly long animations then she is significantly slower if your trying to go for the fastest time possible
personally I think one of the contributers for Rina's bad rep in Zenless currently is that our main dps agents (Ellen, Zhu Yuan, Jane, Soldier, etc...) really want field time, something that Rina doesn't fit well in these type of teams. As you say her playstyle is "more quick swap based" so I think depending on how things will go in the future quickswap teams will be viable in zenless lategame, with Rina being one of the main faces of this team archetypes
Rina has the second highest attack out of all my agents.
So when I need two teams I stick her on the team without 11. But I feel like Rina is versatile enough to be used with 11 and Ben as well.

In a stream you recently said that physical/ fire and ether/ electric work together well. Could you make a video going into detail on why that is? It would also be relevant as the sons of calydon are all phy/ fire

Most enemies that are phys weak are also fire weak
I feel Electric and Ether works because of the long duration of Shock complementing the short duration of Corruption. Shock has the longest duration of effect among Anomalies while Corruption is down in the bottom Assault. The same can be said between Scorch and Assault.
In theory, Anomalies can virtually work together since there aren't really any direct drawbacks from pairing one element with another. However, once you take into account the duration and the effects of each anomaly, it starts to make sense why certain pairs "feel" good together.
While there isn't much existing variation (due to a lack of agents with certain roles for each element) to fully test this, what we do have right now is the pairing of Fire and Physical. The consistency of Scorch's DoT and the sudden of Assault damage _feels_ really great together. For me personally, it is all just feels to me, however that feeling also makes sense.
I rerolled 6 times trying to snipe her but all I got was Neko or Koleda.. I was even not that happy when I got Grace from standard banner a few days ago, as I still think Rina is a much better unit to support my Jane Doe..

just started the game last week, caught up with all the content and finished the two events, i do want rina to use with jane doe and seth
i think pen in very useful against elites and bosses, cuz they have a lot of more defense
good thing i build her and now got 70% pen ratio
I use Rina in my Jane and Seth team. But because of Seth, I feel like rarely get to use Rina's ex skill because of Seth's weird swap out. Plus, there are so many assist swap outs with Jane and Seth. That the only time I can use Rina is through the chain attack. Maybe i just haven't figured out the optimal swap out for this team
Try getting seth meter full then don’t spend it yet, swap to rina cast her abilities, quick assist to Jane do an ex special and swap to Seth use his meter then back to Jane
The thing is Soukaku gives so much Daze with her 3-4 EX skills, while applying freeze and giving ATK+ shreds Ice resistance at M4. How can Rina’s pen hold a candle to ALL THAT. Nicole has grouping and fast on field time on top of the def shred with her wengine also giving atk to the team.
Soukaku feels incredibly slow compared to Rina, so it sort of depends on how you are using her.
I'm still debating on trying Nicole. I ended up with M6 with her but have never really used her ever...

Soukaku takes time to apply her buff while Rina is just easy, Just use ex if its available or just do basic attack then swap..
i got flamed so hard on every platform when i mentioned that rina is highly underrated and better waay better than people believe if she is build correctly, im glad people will start to understand now

There is a team with Grace/Rina/Qingyi in top 5 clears 😮. How? I have been trying to make Grace/Rina work but she doesnt buff Grace dmg at all, when I use Rina Ex special then swap to Grace and shock the enemy, I'm getting lower or same dmg ticks cause Rina Ex special fills like 1/4th of enemy's anomaly then the final result dmg is shared between her and Grace, instead of filling the whole anomaly with just Grace. And if I shock first with Grace then Rina Ex, the shock ticks don't even get buffed at all.
I can't make this 2 work together and is frustrating cause they are the only 2 standart Chars I have gotten, and the third was the goddamn Rina W-engine, the Game wants me to play Rina but I can't find good use for her :/.
My other team is Zhu yuan/Anby/Nicole, so really no room for Rina in neither team.

Is this taking into account the mindscape passives? I know that an M6 Nicole can recharge very quickly and getting one is pretty easy compared to getting an M6 Rina. Those passives really do make quite the difference

Testing on Piper shows that pen/element/atk on D5 are all very close to each other on her. It's more a testament of how well made Piper that she can use all 3 with little difference. Or rather how little that disc main stat on her matters when D4/6 give anomaly and built in power stacking in her kit.
That said armor pen has always been a requires very high investment to work properly in almost every game. Problem D5 is the only real source of Pen ratio and the sub-stat system is absolutely horrible. If there was a method to get the exact stats you wanted and slowly work them up would be much better than slamming into the rng slots that discs currently. That would make pen ratio far more useful as you could focus on getting it much close to max values. Pen ratio main stat needs to be offered on multiple dics for it to worth pursuing.
Also you DO need Rina's M1. She simply doesn't work as well without it. Sure you can play around it but she is an S-rank support. She should be head and shoulders above the rest of the A-rank supports but she's not. Her buff timers are a part of the problem, which is something her M1 helps a ton on. Lucy has better buff timers and soon to be released Caesar is an insanely better "support" than Rina. Don't fool yourself or others with cope. Rina needs her M1, it should of been part of her baseline for how she plays.

I'm thinking about running Rina and Nichole together... Not sure how it will work. I have an M6 Nichole but she is only level 30, so I am still debating putting the resources into making her more useful.
Right now I have zero anomaly or ice agents that are very usable... Only fire and electric.
They don’t work that well together since their both shredding defense your lacking on attack or dmg bonus, it’s better to run them separately

I actually really don't think Soukaku is that good. Her buffs take 10 years to get the full benefit of lol. Doesn't feel great in end game content where bosses wont let soukaku ex special 3 times.

Yea, you would basically keep wingyi in field for tanks enemies and get her full buff stacked up and then chain attack with Ellen into Rina and cancel qingyi chain attack and just attack with Ellen after that. But very squishy enemies you can just straight up kill with Ellen no need for qingyi’s buff

@@thomasnguyen4427 pen basically was just straight defense shred just like Nicole’s defense shred. But it was way to powerful so they made it a separate multiplier and not shred as much defense as before to tone it down. Pre nerf it was the best in slot 5th for every DPS agent, elemental dmg bonus couldn’t compete
