I'll chock it up to he broke his wrist and it healed a little screwed up. You just never know. haha With my screwed up shoulder now I'd salute even worse than that if it was on my right side.
Our drill instructors use to do this salute where they would put their arm out 90 degrees and swing it around and always get the salute perfect. And so we started doing it too and always got that perfect salute.
Was prior service Air Force Medic 1964-1968, getting out as an E-4. and the Air Force saluted by going straight up and down the gig line. When I joined the Navy in 1969 I lost a pay grade to E-3 or HN and went straight to Corps School, without any Navy training. Picked up HM3 while I was with a Marine Battery on Okinawa in 1970, and was presented my Certificate by the Battery Commanding Officer (a Captain), while in formation with Marines who were picking up Corporal at the same time. When the Captain presented me with my Certificate and I saluted the way I learned in Air Force Basic, and when I was lowering my hand along the gig line I accidentally knocked all the other Certificates out of his hand. Was very embarrassed for a few minutes, but not for long because the senior E-4's of the Battery lined up into a gauntlet and the new E-4's went through to have our stripes and crows tacked on.
DJ McKeown No Sir! Respectfully, you salute the recipient, because of his earning of the MOH! And it does not matter the rank of the MOH recipient, all service members, no matter their rank, must salute him.
this is weird for me because I was taught to have the tip of my middle finger at the tip of my eyebrow when not wearing headgear, then at the tip of my glasses/cover that extends outward if necessary....
At 2:23, those are HORRIBLE salutes!! Randoph has his wrist bent and fingers on the far leading edge of his cap. He needs to straighten it out and bring his fingers to the cap brim in front of his eyebrow. Reynolds is sloppy. No snap. And why are you moving your neck to your right? Keep practicing.
Someone needs to learn how to edit out the dead space and extended negative space. Other than that, this is the greatest video in the history of RUclips. I'm Kensington Drake dammit!
This helps quite a bit. Just finished with training, but it was Officer Development School. We were never outside during colors out of formation and I didn't know what to do the other day when on base in civilian clothes during colors. I do have a question though. My first PDS is a joint command. Army salutes in PT's which is confusing as I don't know what rank they are and every once in a while they salute with their hand in line with their body. Is this an Army thing? I should probably just ask lol
The blue camo was a huge mistake. Doesn't work anywhere but in the water and when you're a man overboard then you damn sure don't need to blend in with the water. Should just wear the camo everyone else is wearing. The cover issue, from what I remember it's when reporting, entering bridge, inspection, ceremony, crossing hanger bay, certain times while on duty, while working. At least that's what I remember. Basically just never on mess decks or topside.
national defence act of 2008 , veterans and active duty personnel out of uniform may render salute on raising or lowering the flag. Act of 2009 permits salute for national anthem,
Yes, an individual only salutes when in uniform and covered. A plain clothed enlisted Sailor would not salute a uniformed officer (but would still render the appropriate greeting). An officer in plain clothes will not return the salute (but will return the greeting). I've never seen the fist over the heart for colors before. If you're in plain clothes for colors, it's appropriate to stand at attention.
I'm really late on this but yes you call him Chief (as in aye, Chief) but you don't salute him. You salute everything above Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy basically. So from Warrant Officer and Ensign at the bottom of the commissioned officers all the way up to Fleet Admiral you salute.
@@wheelmanstan If you check regs., it is not improper for one enlisted to salute another enlisted. It is a form of greeting, but it is required of all enlisted to salute Officers as stated.
@@itzdilpickle3679 Well sir, when I went to school over 55 yrs ago, when we said the pledge of allegiance, we faced the flag and put our hand over our heats. This person is NOT in the military service or uniform and it is proper!! Too bad more people do not salute.
Those were some shit salutes, especially Buttloaf there at the end.
Shipey Mate 😂😂 that bent wrist

No.
Civs don’t salute
It looks like Buttolph is trying to point a gun at his head, but can't find the gun.

It would have been hilarious if all the senior E-4s purposely saluted and knocked the papers down too just to make you feel better.
About an hour of saluting study condensed into a few minutes… and I still learned more here
A salute to our fellow navy men. 🫡
what the hell kinda name is buttloph and the hell kind of slaute is that at the end
Bet he got BULLIED in basic training or whatever the navy calls it.

I thought you always salute a serviceman, active or retired, that holds the Medal of Honor.

I know, right
This was good stuff, i was wondering about saluting an officer in civilian clothes. Thanks!
This helps a lot when training for the navy
Do we make or avoid eye contact ?
imo, looks better with the palm facing inwards unlike the regular army salute or the British army salute.

i like the garrison cover hat
My director is a former naval officer, will have to salute him this way see if i get one back
2:39 He's a Butt alright. And anyone who served can salute anytime they please.
No
This video was on time and very good
and the Dixie cub
At 1:52, he dropped his solute before the officer. DO NOT DO THAT!!!! You drop AFTER the officer drops.

If you're an officer just salute those that salute you. If you see a more senior ranking officer, salute them.
Someone explain to me why the Navy now needs a camouflage uniform? Also when I was in we never wore a cover indoors.

There are some watches or duties that you are required to wear cover indoor.
@@yakabud0422 That is correct, if you are standing watch on the Quarter Deck, you are covered.
why is the soldier saluting at his chest at 2:33?
his hand was over his heart at the end because he was not in uniform come on people

What happens if I use my left hand😀?
do all branch's use the same salute because I've seen a salute with the hand straight and all with the top of the hand slightly forward
when u gangway, do you just have to know that someone is your superior tor react quickly enough to move and verbally salute?
U will always know because of there rank slides
Thanks!
what song in begginning
do you call them chief?
You can call him chief, I also called him Sir as he out ranked me.
if you see a Chief Petty Officer do you salute them?

It's like if someone doesn't shake your hand
@Malibu CA Name one fort please?
You remain in your position until the officer comes back to salute you.
