This is NOT supposed to be a live. This is a music video shoot therefore it was all a PLAYBACK for recording purposes and noone is actually live.
Although this looks like a recording from a concert, this is NOT FROM A CONCERT!! All music video shootings require countless number of takes of the exact same song so they are all just a playback.

Yes the whole thing was synched. I was there, but it was awesome to see the band after 15 yeas!!! :) Yoshiki spoke with the crown for a while,and that was awesome!

so funny, the recorded like 7 "Music Videos" in the past 5 yrs, and havent released a single one...
Awkward riff, just doesn't sound like the good old X Japan... Aside from that, I'm glad Sugizo is onboard, coudn't think of a better replacement for hide for lead guitars.
Still looking forward for X's next work! It's just awesome they got together again!

Sure they changed but big deal. They are still X! Hell if they continued with the.same old shit it would get boring. They still manage to slip in heavy riffs which is always nice. But do you really expect them to perform like they used to? They have aged quite a bit. I think they still have a good amount of energy for their age. We are X!
Seriously, this is a great song, way better than I.V. and Jade, now I can't wait for the album! :-O

Pata is a badass o-o!!!!!..and not nearly appreciated enough...
wow, what a great song! Jade and I.V. took a while to grow on me, but this is the only one of the new X-Japan songs from the past couple years that I loved on the first listen. Also a great mix of louder, heavier rock that appeals more to an American audience and the more classical, ballad style X is great for. hopefully Yoshiki gives us more new songs like this.
I still like this new X Japan, love the riffs, especially at minute 3 XD... but of course, like in every band, you cannot compare these new tunes to the good old classics...
Am l the only one that's disapointed with the new X-Japan songs? l am glad they have reunited but where's that unique rocking prog/power metal sound that lve known and loved about this band, even the DAHILA album still had that sound.
l don't mean to complain but this sounds a bit too mediocre, l don't even know what Sugizo is adding to the band's sound.
It's amazing how their new stuff is an entirely diifferent genre than the old stuff AND it still FCKIN ROKS!!! I really hope they get well known in the States. They deserve it at the least.
@theindiefanclub I can understnad why bands have to evolve their sound but this just sounds like generic rock. I really can't judge them until l hear the new album but all l am saying is that l miss the chemistry that Pata and Hide had in the band.
I think yoshiki is trying somthing new, i mean look at soe bands that have been around for so long they tend to change beacuse im sure they themselves get bored of it. Its also the bands choice cuz im sure if they dident like it they would try to change it. Maybe yoshiki is composing more of the softer songs and maybe the old style later for the album. i love this band and even if its a change they still prove to be one of the best bands out there.. We Are X!

ive been an x fan since 1994... i have to say this is horrible.. they really gone down hill i love x like no other but im not going to lie to myself saying this is awesome when it is not.

X japan fans that goes way back will notice the difference. No more guitar solos that we learn to love. Maybe because the one that compose them is no longer with us. This song is not great but still good if u ask me.

@unclenabe It isn't uncommon for many famous or non-famous bands to use play backs and syncing for PV shoots. After all they have to do many shoots and takes, they were properly busy through out the whole night doing PVs >_> and has "mistressvader88" said, they did 7 takes for the public.

well it's not that i don't like this song it's just they've already proofed they can do A LOT better i think this'll be one of the worse song from the new album. i hope this is not how the whole album goes but i'm looking forward cuz' Jade another new song too sounds better than this in my opinion so i'm looking forward there will be more cool songs like Jade. but hey, like i said, born to be free isn't bad at all. some other bands could be proud if they had this song.

and i hate the new PVs they did for their old songs. it's like WTF? they just kinda wiped hide out of all their past. i mean, i can understand why the new songs don't have him, cos well, it's impossible to include him, but why did they have to re-do their old PVs?????
And I can't help but notice how much more "westernized" it is. X has a lost a lot of the originaly visual kei.. originality. if i wasn't paying close attention,
@1shoryuken He's adding a lead guitar. Bands move on, and play new music. I mean, if they played the same thing, and didn't experiment with new things, then, people would complain instead about it being same-y. Remember that this is the first song X have written without hide - I.V. even had the guitar track that he recorded. Personally - I like the song. No, it isn't the X we all used to know and love, but it was never going to be the same.
@porcelaindollxx They're re-making PVs to generate more interest, get noticed. They're obviously trying to be more appealing to more western markets, hence their touring North America and whatnot. It's called marketing. They have to make money if they want to keep going. Have you ever tried to run a band and make it big? It's not easy work.

i would have thought it was some other band trying to imitate them. i hate how there's like women all over toshi in some other PV (not cos i like him), but it's so... poppishly typical in a western MV kinda way in that they're always trying to add sex into it cos.. their song isn't good enough.

X fans listen to X and can make their own judgments on their new works. I am personally a fan of this song, considering I was there and had a helluva good time, and have been a fan of theirs since '98.
I am glad their together and are making new tracks that get me rocking.
Toronto Canada here. I have been a fan since 1983. X Japan used to play in small clubs in Tokyo. Their attempt to sing the songs in English to meet the demands of the English speaking audience : has really sucked.Though there is no HIDE...and the lack of their costumes: their music has transformed X Japan into a totally different creature. More modern...however, something is lost in Translation.......could be the horrible English...X Japan in Japanese is totally awesome. Got tkts for oct7 YYZ

i understand you, but this song is not too bad and remeber that those great solos were an hide and yoshiki idea, we miss hide u\in fact
lol yea it is definately syncing lol it is so obvious at 4:06 yoshiki left the piano and it kept playing
it's definitely syncing.... at 3.00 mark yoshiki is clearly hitting the ride cymbal on his right while you hear the hi hats being hit... Unless he has a secondary X-hat on his right ?

yep u're right he's evolving but to me, for any classic rock band, any attempt at changing with time is vain. Plus if yoshiki's dream is now to conquer america, he's going to draw inspiration from his musical environment, just like back in the days, but they are now evolving in a musical environment where they do not belong, it has turned to shit.
@ilovecassius He's still there. He's moving forward. If he just wrote the same songs over and over it'd get boring and stale. It's not like they're gonna stop playing those songs; they played Art of life and Kurenai in London the day before yesterday. Artists move on... I think the fans should to.
@rockmij actually, they did "perform". when you shoot a music video to an pre-recorded track, the track plays in the backround while the band also plays the song (usually halfassed though) so it looks more believable that they video looks like it's straight from a concert :)
