The saving private Ryan review I. Meant is from a year ago but this is a Updated and better saving private Ryan review : ruclips.net/video/aG8tt3XPtMU/видео.html
So from the time i was 17 yrs old back in 1993 every Jan at the Battle of the Bulge Reenactment in Fort Indiantown GAP, PA with E/ 506th living history unit we had almost all the org. Troopers with us (along with Troopers from other Airborne units, and at other events during the year) in our Barrack's and at the public battle. it was this event were i grew up Drinking Prop Blast listing to stories , laughing and singing with these Troopers. God i miss them scalawags those late night drunk Grunt to Grunt talks sitting on bunks with canteen cups of Prop blast and it was this event were XXXX read the letter he got from Tom Hanks asking permission to do this series ,then he asked us what we thought and we shouted a big HELL YES!! lifting our drinks 100+ Drunken Troopers cheering, them were some epic hangovers.
I have my hardback BoB signed by my fav BOB-dude before he passed. The actors are veryvery sweet ant often meet up. They went through their own Bootcamp and they have a big bond between them
This series is about a couple of different things. First is small group cohesion, band of brothers. The other is about leadership. There are a couple of types of military skills. Sobel got his training from a military school. As the show points out he was from urban Chicago. He learned rules and parade ground routines. In US history we think of McClellan during the Civil War. The other skill set comes from hunting, reading the ground and moving through the woods, not marching on a parade ground.
I hope you keep up with & complete this series! You'll get to know some of the men and develop a liking for many of them throughout the show! I bought the entire series just before knee surgery & watched the entire series in less than a day and a half! I couldn't stop watching!!
If I had to pick just one series as the only thing I could watch for the rest of my life, this would be it. What this show does, it does to perfection. I'm sure you'll love it.
Lt. Winters exhibits his leadership. Before loading into the C-47s he asks God's blessing for the men. He helps each and every one of them get up while looking them in the eyes.
Not based on a true story... it IS the true story of easy company. As told by the surviving members of easy. The old men at the start are the men in the story. Try to guess who is who.
Thank you Jayy for the video. I'm happy to see ya doing this one. It's part of our history and imo needs to be told, as sad as it is, we cannot forget what others had to do to protect other's that can't protect themselves.
Glad you're getting to this mini-series.. it's one of the best portrayals of WWII soldiers and the characters and events taken from real people recounting actual events (the book was awesome!) which, for me, makes it very special. Especially the interviews with the surviving veterans at the end of the series. Fascinating!
Great job reacting to this series. I'm looking forward to watching your reactions to the rest. As for Captain Sobel his strengths were in training and military discipline but he lacked in tactical ability and it was said that he couldn't read a map which is crucial for a combat Infantry leader especially in the days before the invention of the GPS.
this is an amazing tv show to review. its powerful and really hits you. can i recommend Rome, its only two seasons long, but was HBO's most expensive show back in the day.
This series is mostly true. They do a couple of things to make the show work. Depending on the date there could be about 140 men in Easy Co. The series gives us about a dozen men to follow just so we can keep track. Some of the things that happened did not happen to the men we know. The writers could not introduce too many characters. There actual errors that crept into the series. When you get to these commenters will point these out. Other things were omitted because they were just to unbelievable. For example, when Easy was training the men had some revenge on Sobel that was pretty amazing. I won’t spoil the story but read Ambrose’s book to get the skinny.
Loved your reaction :) If memory serves me right they don't follow up on what was up with the soldier in the barracks who sat on his bed instead of following orders to go on the run. My own personal take on that scene was that it was just another way to convey just how brutal the training really was. That having to enduring it day after day after day it could wear you down mentally and you simply can't go on, even if you're an otherwise good soldier (I'm pretty sure that was Floyd Talbert in that scene who was actually one of Easy's best) Also, it showed that Lipton understood where Talbert was at mentally and that it was just better to let him sit that one out and not force him or seek disciplinary action against him or anything because most likely he'd be fine again the next day or whatever. Might have even been other stuff going on in his personal life he wasn't capable of discussing as well. So it shows Lipton as a good leader as well.
The soldier who did not run PT was Private White. He ended up washing out. Training for the Airborne was so tough even some of the best soldiers washed out. There was something like an 80% wash out rate. What was left was the best of the best.

@@watchwithjayy Be prepared. It is very real. And they are real people who all this occurred to.
