    S3 E9:
Our friend Ruben was kind enough to lend us his beautiful 1994 Porsche 911 RS America. This car has been his pride and joy for 20 years after purchasing it from the original owner, his child hood friend.
Ruben told us when the car was sold brand new, not even the Porsche sales man knew what he was selling. " I have a cheap 911 for you" he was told. That's right - the RS America was the least expensive in the 911 line up for that model year! We find it funny how, less luxury meant less $$$ vs today's market. Less is more $$. An RS badge will cost you.
Only 701 RS America's were build from 93-94 and only 84 cars for in the final year of production. It was an honor to ride in #83.
Only a few options were available new: Sunroof, radio, A/C and limited slip rear end. Rubens car has A/C and Radio.
Lightweight was the name of the game for this car and in total 80lbs were shaved off making 0.2 seconds faster from 0-60mph than a standard C2. But the real magic of this car is in the handling since it was a completely beefed up suspension using components from the Turbo cars. The "whale tail" is fixed just like the Turbo and the Cup 1 wheels are also borrowed from the Turbo.
This car is finished in the optioned Midnight Blue Metallic with cloth black seats. We love the simplicity of this car, including the pull straps door handles.
The RS America goes down in history as a very significant car! We're so glad we had the opportunity to drive it.

Dad still has his White 1993 with 60,000 miles. Spun it on a track a few times in wendover so he stopped racing it.. Still remember taking drives up and down the canyon as a kid.

So that's why Porsche introduced the 991.2 Carrera T years later, because of the RS America.

Not really. RS America perhaps could have been named club sport. T for touring, T is a throwback to the early longhood cars back then they were the lowest priced 911.
