I also want to shoot in Switzerland. I have just made few short films & music videos which are available in this youtube channel i.e- AK Creation .
Can you please comment on the anamorphic options for low budget film makers in India? Will a 16:9 ratio is ok for the India market? When using Alexa 35 to create a cinemascope projection, they are using only small area with a ratio 2.39:1 and not anamorphic lenses. So we can easily do the same with any full frame camera like BMPCC. Am I correct?
For low-budget filmmakers in India, anamorphic options can be limited due to cost constraints. While anamorphic lenses offer a unique aesthetic and wider aspect ratio, they can be expensive to rent or purchase. However, achieving a similar widescreen look is still possible using alternative methods.
Using a 16:9 ratio is generally acceptable for the Indian market, as it's a common aspect ratio for digital content and television broadcasts. Many filmmakers opt for this ratio due to its compatibility with standard viewing platforms.
When using cameras like the Alexa 35 to create a cinemascope projection with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, filmmakers often use only a portion of the sensor or image area, effectively cropping the image to achieve the desired widescreen look. This approach doesn't necessarily require anamorphic lenses; it's more about framing and cropping the image during post-production.
Similarly, with a camera like the BMPCC, filmmakers can achieve a cinemascope projection by shooting in a wider aspect ratio and cropping the footage in post-production. While anamorphic lenses may offer certain aesthetic advantages, they're not strictly necessary for achieving a widescreen look.
Ultimately, the choice between using anamorphic lenses or cropping in post-production depends on the filmmaker's budget, creative vision, and technical considerations. Both approaches can yield impressive results, and low-budget filmmakers in India can explore various options to achieve their desired cinematic look within their means.
Thanks for the update
