Hi this is Waynes wife Kyria here- we live in the BlueMountains and Mould is a big enemy for us at home during this very big La Niña. I’m also asthmatic and mould makes my sinuses flare up. Please make sure you use oil of cloves to kill the mould. It is the only thing to get rid of the spores and the mould. Bleach will only change the colour of the mould but won’t kill it and it will come back. We had it in our house but after treating it with a clove oil and water mix in a spray bottle it hasn’t come back. I use warm water a bit of vinegar and about 10 drops of Clove oil. You can get it from the chemist. (Also used for toothaches as you put a bit on a cotton bud and wipe your sore tooth). Good luck in the fight against mould!!! We love your channel too btw!
Great advice! We’ve used clove oil once before many years ago but forgot all about it! We’ll give it another shot before we hit the road again. Cheers😁👍
your mould problem is very common, we use a sprung slatted bed base, eg: replace the ply with sprung slats. we have bought them from ikea. well worth changing.
treat with a teaspoon of oil of cloves in a table spoon of metho in a liter of water spray the mould wait to dry then sweep off the mold with dustpan and brush
Great video and content guys. That one piece suit, had me laughing, but it served a purpose well done. Given the kms travelled and the age of the van, I'd say you've had a bloody good run. As mentioned earlier, maintenance is the key. Safe travels guys.
Thanks Tom, I’m really happy you like it! We have nothing to hide . I hope to help others if I can but to also learn from others. Which after this vid, I am learning from people so willing to share their experiences too! It’s just brilliant, it’s why we make these vids😁👍
Good vid Grant. For an older van and your travels with it there really was'nt much wrong in all of those 19 years. Maintenance as you mentioned is the key. Look forward to your next vid.
Interesting video as I am looking at older caravans and I wondered how they go with travelling around. We have had mould in our house its been that bad here in SEQ this year. White vinegar should help keep it away. Thank you for sharing and you haven't really had much go wrong by the sounds of it. Put my faith back into the older van. Maybe when you re do your lounge, redesign with a wooden step for the bed?
There are so many great old vans out there! The key is research and knowing what to look for! We got lucky I think Yes I think I’ll maybe build in a step👍😁
I watched a guy using the rubber interlocking matts under a roof top tent to help improve the airflow under the mattress, might be a $30 experiment worth trying 🍻
Hi guys I have 2 tips for you if no one has suggested No 1: bleach doesn’t kill mould it just sends it white/ clear No 2: use vinegar 80% vinegar 20% water It kills mould the other thing you could do is paint the timber with mould resistant paint less maintenance down the track Hope this helps Cheers Gordo 🤗
Yeah all good here Gordo!😁👍 I should really do an update on socials 🤔 We have been really busy getting ready to hit the road again next weekend. Getting the effy sorted and the last few things done on the van! We’ll go back to fortnight vids till we build up some steam then it’ll be weekly again. P.S. the mould is gone now thanks to the vinegar and clove oil mix Hope all is going well with you mate!😁👍
@@Livin_Like_Kings_ Thanks for the update guys good to hear the mould has gone, just sold my house and bought a van hope to hit the road ourselves early next We been keeping a record of where you have been, you guys have inspired us so much keep it up 👍👍
Hi Heather, we’re definitely continuing with travel and RUclips. We’ve just been busy and didn’t really have anything to film ☺️. We will be on the road again at the end of the month so heaps of videos will be coming. P.s its really nice to hear that you’re missing us 🥰
I just did the brakes and bearings on my “new to me” 2009 BT. One of the rear brakes showed signs of excess wear compared to the others. I found that the loop welded to the chassis that routes the handbrake cable had a deep groove worn in it, because of the sharp change of direction. I think the cable was jamming in this groove holding the brake on slightly. I bought some pulleys and shackles from Bunnings and rerouted the cables through the pulleys. it might not have been an issue but I felt better after is changed it :-)
@@Livin_Like_Kings_ Not sure yet :-) I’ve had the truck tray removed to sandblast and paint. This weekend is our first “shake down trip” for the reassembled truck and for a few changes to the van. WhenI bought the van home only 1 brake out of 4 worked. All the others had broken magnet wires. I replaced all of the magnet with “off road” magnets. On 3 brakes the shoes measured 5mm thick, on the one with the jammed handbrake wire it was only 3mm. I’ll see how they look next time I do the bearings but with the truck exhaust brake the truck and van brakes seem to last pretty well. The truck has done 200,000k’s and just had the shoes replaced.
Ok we’ll fingers crossed it all goes well! Man, how good are exhaust brakes? I’ve noticed the van brakes don’t get hot or get used as much. Brilliant 😁👍
@@Livin_Like_Kings_ sorry I don't actually help you with a fix just a slight difference in rim offset will help you out maybe able to run same offset on car with 8 steelies the same
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-road? We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
Thanks Grant a great honest share of your challenges on the road. Authentic as always, thanks for your very sound advice. Stay safe!👍
Thanks for watching Peter😁👍

Hey bro don't use spacers ( will void insurance and are illigal) but don't quote me check with insurance
These came from factory.
I agree with you. We’ll change it up when we can. Apparently it’s common in off-road vans of that era.

Hi! That’s really bad timing, I literally just put some STEDI gear on the truck and don’t require anymore lights.
But thanks anyway 😁👍
@@Livin_Like_Kings_ Maybe you would be interested in adding a switch panel to controll them all?😄
@@Livin_Like_Kings_ This kits could get rid off all the additional buttom of the lights
The ftruck has the up fitter switches already as standard.
Thanks anyway

sounds like you are not a trady. i feel for you mate if this happened to me i think i would have sold the van and stayed home permantly
No definitely not a trady! But I’m not afraid to have a go, after research and RUclips tutorials!🤦♂️
I do like a challenge 😁👍
Are wheel spacers legal on vans ?
I know they are illegal on vehicles
I’m not 100% sure if they are legal across the board but the van came from the factory like that🤷♂️
Doubtful from factory with spacer, original owner or someone has using spacers for matching wheels to tug, good luck with being road worthiness
Yeah thanks, it’s passed roadworthy checks every year we’ve had so I reckon we’re good😁👍
Mechanical shops rubber stamp,
Just don’t have a worst case scenario, all fine and enjoy your travels
Great video..
What product did you use to bitumen seal the under flooring? How has it stood up since?
I used Sika BE Bitumen Emulsion .
I haven’t traveled far with it yet but so far it looks good 👍
