I came to this country in 1991 from Germany and not in my worst dreams could I have imagined how low public figures would go and still find supporters. I had thought Germany in the 1930s would be a historical deterrence.

I am sorry you had to do that. My church will occasionally talk politics and democracy because it was founded on democracy. But it will never tell anyone who to vote for. You might like it. Unitarian/Universalism is a liberal religion where you can believe anything you want and be accepted. We have quite a range of people,christians,jews,islamic and pagans and atheists. The talk of politics may be off-putting to you but I think that it can be healing in this church. But it is a democracy.The congregation chooses the ministers and the people in positions of power and raise most of the budget. People are expected to accept people with their various beliefs and encourage their spiritual growth. But it may reassure you that most of my church overwelmingly love Mr Rogers Neighborhood. You might want to check it out but it is your choice. Good luck on finding a new church.
