I've certainly never seen the Loch Ness Monster portrayed like that before... and never heard of the redcap... so many mythical creatures to choose from in the UK...
I think this list is a bit of a misnomer... I think it's a list of most popular "cryptid" not favorite "mythical" creature. Cool Phoenix fact you got there!!
As person from the Netherlands I actually had to look up Kludde. To be honest, we have way more myths about water monsters because that's a way prevalent element here. I was actually expecting mermaids to be more prevalent, or the Lorelei
Kludde comes from the border areas between the north of Belgium and the Netherlands, most known the Antwerp region- It also predates Belgium as an actual country, which is probably why it's shared between both countries on this list.
The most popular mythical creature in Venezuela is the Silbon, which is the spirit of a young man who was cursed by his grandfather after seeing him murder his father after doing the same with his nu daughter-in-law, the grandfather of the silbon, before cursing him, tied him to a tree and whipped him and made some dogs try to eat him, it is said that he carries his father's bones on his back, his height exceeds the tops of the trees, he usually roams the Venezuelan plain at night behind him the dogs that followed him, if his whistle is heard nearby it is because he is far away, but if if you get to hear his whistle far away it's because he's close
its like one of our mythical creature here too, round this country in Malaysia. The whistle thing is exactly the same tho. 😁 this thang is huge and have furry pair of legs, plus what they witness this creature only have one eye.
Greece would have a ton of mythical creatures....minotaur, hydra, phoenix, pegasus, skyla, haribdis, medusa , centaur, cyclops, siren, mermaid, sphinx etc. Plus the befana is basically Italy's santa claus , she brings presents.
Befana in Italy is a old woman who takes presents to the children on the night between 5 and 6 january, as the on the feast of the Epiphany while the Magi bring gifts to the little Jesus
If someone don't know, Baba Yaga is a witch-goddess, that lives between Yav'(world of live) and Nav'(world of death). When child got to Baba Yaga(he was often kidnapped by herself or by her geese-swans), it means, that he hurt himself. Baba Yaga lives in a hut on chicken or sheep's legs, and sometimes she can be helpful, when she gives to the hero food, magical objects(for example flying carpet or fast running boots), bed for a night and washes the hero in banya. Baba Yaga doesn't ride a broomstick, she rides a big iron flying or jumping mortar, steers with the iron pestle and sweeps her trail with the broom or with her long tongue. Instead of magical glass ball she have got magical saucer with a blue border and with golden apple, that show all events taking place in the world
I'm from Nepal & I see here yeti cool 😚. & The term Yeti comes from the Nepali dictionary and means 'abominable snowman'. It is also called Meh-Teh in the Tibetan folklore. According to urban legends, Yeti is a two-legged white, shaggy ape-like animal and is described to be 10-20 feet tall.
Same here with our American Bigfoot, the only difference is the color of the fur, height and the amount of siting it was "supposedly" seen but never proven, both creatures are just proven to be plausible or unconclusive as both of them are a big mystery.
hiiii!!! New Zealander here! :D just wanted to let you know that, the image used looks nothing like the traditional taniwha 😅 one of the Taniwha's most iconic features is their face, which usually resembles a Pukana!
Shesha isnt some monster. Shesha is the mount of lord Vishnu(beside Garuda). Shesha is also said to have incarnated as Lakshmana the younger brother of Lord Rama(an incarnation of Vishnu) and Lord Balarama the elder brother of Lord Krishna(another incarnation of Lord Vishnu).
In italy "la befana" is just a "candy-only" version of santa claus. She's an old woman, who flyes on a broom and during the night of the epiphany she give candy to the good children and coal for the bad ones...and that's all. She's not very important, actually I had forgotten her existence.

Also some legends see Mohini as a sex spirit with insatiable canal appetite. She would make her appearance as a beautiful maid to lonely young men and give herself to them, that resulting wet dreams, wasting their energy and erotic fantasies and falling ill. Also some legends believe that Mohini is portrayed as a spirit seeking revenge for past wrongs and unfulfilled desires. Her actions driven by a sense of betrayal or longing for something she denied in life. Legends tell of men who were lured by Mohini got into dangerous situations or lost in the wilderness.

I don't know which one either. But both of them are common. In fact, when I was a kid I'm pretty scared of the manananggal/aswang than that of the Tikbalang. Tikbalang can bring you to a certain place (maybe their kingdom) while manananggal can eventually eat you where you can hardly survive 😅
if ever a part 2 is made of this, please allow me to share 4 of the most famous and feared cryptids/monsters from my native Dominican Republic= 1] The Baccah/Baca`: a "bound demon", it becomes a person's servant through a blood-ritual contract with the Dark Forces for a determined time... and when said time is done, the contract's signee MUST forfeit either their own soul or that of someone dearest to them or horrifying consequences WILL be met for them and their whole family until the 4th generation! 2] The Galipote: D.R.'s version of a werewolf! mostly found in the countryside fields along the North of the island (known as "El Cibao") predominantly in the provinces nearing the border with Haiti! as with standard werewolves, a full-moon night is when they turn and prowl... mostly for the flesh/meat of the elderly! would be, ironically, very protective of children... 3] La Ciguapa: a strange, dangerous creature who disguises as a gorgeous human woman to seduce their prey; more or less like the ancient Greek syrens and mermaids... except these are land-faring, and their tell-tale sign is that their feet are backwards, heels-front! once one does notice that... either run with all your might or become dinner! 4] Maria La Oh: a sea spirit borne off a curse emplaced upon her by The Heavens for her dreary disobedience towards her saintly mother. should anyone dare scream towards the sea that her mother was a whore/slut, she will be given permission to appear before them and make them pay dearly for their blasphemy... by having the waves swallow them so that she finishes the job, making sure the person NEVER comes back from the water! hope this helped!
In romania we fear "Iele/ielele" (them in feminine form). They are ghost like beautiful women that dance around in the night, peoole say that if there are poisoned mushrooms in a circle, thats where the "ghosts" did their things, i dont know much about them, but i know a thing, in my country, if you hear someone calling out your name at midnight, you are peeing your pants.
Dokkaebi from this film looks like hormon monsters from Big Mouth xD Edit: In Poland the most popular creature is Baba Jaga. Strzyga is popular too but less.

Canada is supposed to be the Wendigo, it's weird that China's most popular mythical creature isn't a Chinese dragon, but then I researched Nian and his story involving Chinese New Year so it makes sense that he's on the list.
folks don’t constantly think about nian as a mystical beast most of time…
Yeeeeah even appear in X-Files and supernatural the first time I watched was there.

Armenian culture has been greatly influenced by Persian culture, for example Ahura Mazda is called Aramzd in Armenian or Anahita is called Anahit,Al is also in Persian an mythology, in Persian mythology there are two divs and daevas, divs are evil creatures, but daevas are gods who are under the command of Ahriman, the evil god of Persian mythology.
Devas are the Gods of Hindus...
Asura Is opposite of Devas (Sura)..
Persian and Indian cultures are linked.
@@अहंद्रव्यास्मी Yes exactly, Ahuras are the epithets of Yazatas the name of Persian gods of good in Persian mythology and also the name of Ahura Mazda is also the main god, Ahura comes from the Indian Asura. Many Persian and Indian gods are common, for example Indra is the daeva in Indian religion, in Persian mythology Indra is one of the six main daevas Ahriman, or for example Vayu is the Indian god of wind, in Persian is called Vayu Vata,Vayu is the wind and Vatu is atmosphere .

E o problema é que qualquer pessoa pode ser um chupa cu. Esse ser místico usa da persuasão para se multiplicar...

In Italy we have cyclops (in the seaside close to Naples), Scilla and Cariddi (two powerful monsters that guard the channel between south Italy and Sicily), sirens (close to Capri - originally flying monsters) and many more, as written by Homer in his book the Odyssey.
I'm from México. And yeah la llorona would be one of the mythical creatures. We have many more though. Another big one would be "nahuales" ( a shapeshifter), chupacabras and witches.
Si cierto, los nahuales.

Shtriga in Albanian means “Witch” that thing that you portrayed there doesn’t look anything like a Witch but more like some Monster.
In Italia we have griphon and scazzamurrello (a sort of gnome/elf) too
Scilla e Cariddi
The most popular mythical creature from the Netherlands i would say is the ‘kabouter’ which is a gnome
you can make an rpg game with all these creatures 👍

You should've chosen Tikbalang for the Philippines.(mythical humanoid enitity with a head of a horse)
Tikbalang,Kapre
Why not include duwende or maligno??
Manananggal is also known as Aswang
if ever a part 2 is made of this, please allow me to share 4 of the most famous and feared cryptids/monsters from my native Dominican Republic=
1] The Baccah/Baca`: a "bound demon", it becomes a person's servant through a blood-ritual contract with the Dark Forces for a determined time... and when said time is done, the contract's signee MUST forfeit either their own soul or that of someone dearest to them or horrifying consequences WILL be met for them and their whole family until the 4th generation!
And we fishermans dont allowed any one of us scream in the center of the oceans

In romania we fear "Iele/ielele" (them in feminine form).
They are ghost like beautiful women that dance around in the night, peoole say that if there are poisoned mushrooms in a circle, thats where the "ghosts" did their things, i dont know much about them, but i know a thing, in my country, if you hear someone calling out your name at midnight, you are peeing your pants.
