Very attractive thumbnail, excellent edit and always great to see a fish catching review too! You really put some time into creating this adventure, thanks!
Thanks for the review. I am a big fan of extra fast action, not only for the way they can impart motion to a soft plastic, but for accuracy when throwing at mangrove shorelines.
I went to KMart many years ago and bought a 7 foot 2 piece ugly stik. The SOB is still strong as hell, I've caught a bunch of fish, from small to big, and I fish many different baits with it. I dont see why people go out and buy these expensive rods... My ugly stik is pretty light, I have a nice 2000 reel on it, 20# braid, 20# fluro... Great video, but that's a lot of money for a rod. It's an older model, the GX2 I think replaced it. My heavy rod for grouper n stuff was $70 from Dicks. Am I missing something?
For what they give back, I think it's very affordable rod honestly. The Ugly Stik is strong but has a terrible action IMO. Hey, do what works for you my friend. 👍
@@Saltyscales ah ok. I've never really fished other rods, that's why i asked. I'm tempted to give this rod a try, though. I'm not arguing, just curious, really. You're a pro and thus i had to ask. You know the ins and outs of these things. Hence why I'm subbed and have the notification Bell on. 😉
For $150 I’d get a badass custom rod built by tortuga customs in Lakeland but that company does benefit the environment so I’ll give them that. Grouper season is coming up, you think we can get some grouper vids soon or skyway vids?
Thanks, Josh. Your video is very helpful. You've persuaded me. I am just getting started in inshore fishing. I've always fly fished for mountain trout and thrown fly bugs/poppers for bass. I live in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and do not often get to the mountains more than 5-6 times per year. I am rigged for fly fishing for redfish and trout, but I now want to try a spinning rod. I have 2 questions for you. First, based upon your review I was planning to get the Toadfish 7'2" Medium Heavy Fast rod. I will mostly wade fish in the marshes for slotted redfish and speckled trout. I have a small Jon boat just to get to areas of the marshes - not really for boating. I will do no off-shore fishing and likely no beach or pier fishing. Given that tactic, which Toadfish rod would you recommend? You said you have four. I really want to settle on one - the most versatile rod for my fishing. And, which reel do you use or recommend for me? Before I saw your video I had almost settled on the Penn Clash 4000, but I am not wedded to it - just flirting. I truly appreciate your advice.
Good video Joshua. I’ve been along time subscriber. I am coming down this weekend for Memorial Day. I’m staying Ellenton. Some buddy’s told me I should launch my kayak from Cockroach Bay Boat Ramp. Can you confirm this is a good location for a kayaker or maybe suggest somewhere else. Thank you in advance.
Hey Josh.. Great video man.. Price is much better than I expected, so to me it would depend on how it feels regarding the hit and what you feel.. You know I'm a St Croix fan, but look at the difference in the cost.. Love the size in 7'4" long.. Seems very worth the try.. Always look forward to your equipment videos and info.. I try alot of the equipment I see you use and comment on.. Thanks for sharing my friend.. Always your fan and subscriber.. Still waiting on your T-shirt line..lol. I wear a fishing shirt pretty much daily and wish my T-shirts were Salty Scales..
Nice looking rod. I was wondering why you don't use a high-vis colored braided line? Are saltwater fish more weary of it or is it just what you happened to buy?
Unless you have done it before could you please demonstrate a pictorial on the proper way of tying a pop ‘n cork? From the braid to a hook (size) targeting fish up to 20 lbs ..THANK YOU
Hi Josh..great review vid! I am about to pull the trigger in getting a Toadfish! Do you have a suggestion of a rod and brand/model that is comparable in price, quality and performance? Thanks for your work and passion!
Hey man I definitely like the video thinking about getting one. My buddy really wants to know what the name of the intro song is he cant find it haa thanks love the videos!
It sure looks like a nice rod Josh. Although it would look Better in my hands ~ lol ! Take Care Buddy. btw, Stephanies voice got deeper. Hope she is OK!
💥💥💣💣🤜🏻🤛🏻🤑
I have 7'6 extra fast heavy cant beat the Rod its great Price also my toadfish convict rod for tight structure sheepshead fishing 🥇🏆💰💰💰
Very nice!
I'll be finding out this week on the Tomoka River.
Let us know what you think, good luck!
@@Saltyscales OK - gonna pretty much match what you did, shrimp under a popping float with a 1/0 circle through the horn.
Good, versatile rig that should produce in an array of areas.

Thanks JC, I appreciate the positive vibes brother. I did put some time into this edit for sure.
If you are a Light-Tackle lover like me, the 6'8 medium light Toadfish is the best rod I have ever owned!
I have the 6'8" rod, it is very nice for sure.
Got one comming today
Nice

I got the 7’4” ML. I luv it!
I think that is the perfect length for artificial.
I bought me one of the 7'6" Toadfish rods. Not that I need an excuse to buy another rod, but oysters is a good one.
I know the feeling lol but hey, I guess you can never have too many fishing rods.
Sick video my man 💯
Toadfish makes some quality rods.
Thanks man, appreciate the camera help. 👊
Good stuff
Thanks Michael

Nothing wrong with trying new things but If something is working then stick with it for sure. We know there is always room for improvement brother.

Hey David, I will be doing some great grouper videos. Stay tuned!
Hey enjoy the content bro keep it coming 👍🏼
What kind of glasses are those??
That intro song is actually pretty good, the original is best!
What is that reel bro
13 fishing tx
I'm up north fishing stripers, think it will work for them?
Hey Michael, how big of stripers are we talking? Are you surf fishing?
@@Saltyscales Yup .Surf and backbays. Also fluke.

Can you do a review of the 5'11 sheephead rod

It's a good location but you do have to be careful of break ins and boat traffic.
Joshua Taylor thank you. Could you make a better recommendation on a launch point that maybe safer and less boat traffic.
What kind of the reel do you have?

The feel and action is nice, solid backbone with a sensitive blank. I thought it would be a good time to update you all after eight months of use.
What is that black reel on the 7’4 ML, sweet vid as always 🎣
Looks like a nice rod. I have heard they retail for $100 now
I think they have reduced the price since the making of this video.
I got the 7'2" rod, haven't used it yet seems nice,I do wish the whole handle was covered with the same rubber material has the top is
I agree, I like the rubber material also.
Nice looking rod. I was wondering why you don't use a high-vis colored braided line? Are saltwater fish more weary of it or is it just what you happened to buy?
I try and go as natural as possible, these fish get hammered with pressure and every little detail matters.
Damn, checked the site and it definitely looks nice. Unfortunately no casting rods? Thats what I'd be interested in
Yea, I think that will come in the near future. They are just getting started but doing great things in the name of conservation.
Hey Josh, i have 3 toadfish and those are the best rods and i hope Gator jims gets them in stock because they are the best
Thanks for the comment Marty, maybe they will. 👍
Love the footage, niiiice rod!
Does anyone have experience with both this rod and the mojo inshore? Which rod would you give the edge to? I’m stuck in between.
Hi Josh , Great video and much appreciated Toad rod report . I have the 7’2” rod enroute to Mass as I type ..Thank you
Unless you have done it before could you please demonstrate a pictorial on the proper way of tying a pop ‘n cork? From the braid to a hook (size) targeting fish up to 20 lbs ..THANK YOU

Great video and that rod looks awesome. Wondering if the Toadfish would work with a baitcasting reel? I live in Texas and fish lakes.
In the intro, anyone else see the mullet in the background?
Hey man I definitely like the video thinking about getting one. My buddy really wants to know what the name of the intro song is he cant find it haa thanks love the videos!
We’re is that place
It sure looks like a nice rod Josh. Although it would look Better in my hands ~ lol ! Take Care Buddy. btw, Stephanies voice got deeper. Hope she is OK!
Hey Joshua you should try the tsunami carbon shield 2 rods they are great for a hundred bucks they might be the best
I love the backbone of mine and the guides are alps. And has a alps reel seat
First!!!
