As a play tester, It is wonderful seeing someone look at these cards for the first time. Trying to figure out what they do and how to play them by only looking at thier cards.
I played JE for 5 months now and never noticed that i could keep power cards from days that never were power. Fractured days just breaks my brain with all the options. Fun video to watch.
I just got my copy and I have loved unboxing it and starting to read up on the ten new spirits. I now have 22 spirits to choose from. Man I love this game.
I’ve had dozens of plays for jagged earth and it is insane! Far and away I love Burning Plague and Looming High...but they’re like children and I can’t just have a few favorites. I saw a guy on Reddit make his own tokens out of polymer clay...so I did the same. So now when I play Volcano Looming High, there are actual volcanoes on the board
since filming this, i’ve played EXACTLY a dozen games w jagged earth!! burning plague is cool, and i love volcano. but (one of) my favorite(s) so far might be Lure.. i just love him.
@@BeingFriends I love that spirit island Reddit thread because I’m constantly amazed by all of the beautiful customization all of the super fans do. Have you gotten the promo spirits yet? I had a super fail with keeper on my first Play through
I just got the promo pack and I’m stoked!! I do feel nervous about finder though. It seems like a weird puzzle to crack 🤯 I can see myself super failing too! May just try it on the thematic board and that’s it
I'm excited to see who your favorites end up being from JE. I'd also be interested to know if any of them manage to de-throne Oceans, Nightmares, or Wildfire for you.
You know... I wish I hadn't seen this video =) I JUST got the base game, after resisting the urge to buy it for years. I admit I was a bit prejudiced against this game, since I don't particularly enjoy cooperative games (with a few notable exceptions because of the theme which I enjoy), but this... I finally decided to give it a try a few days ago, and although I haven't played it yet properly I'm already in love just due to the production quality and the way these spirits, their names and names and effects of their powers are incorporated into the theme of the game. And now, having seen Jagged Earth content, I already want it! Damn, I suppose I should get on with being vocal and boring with my Christmas wishes ;)
@@BeingFriends Outside of Jagged Earth; Shadows Flicker Like Flame was my first spirit so holds a special spot for me there. I've had some good times with Heart of Wildfire as well. I'd also pick Vital Strength of Earth as sometimes the slow and simple approach is relaxing as well as fun.
Love the video Evan, excited to get the expansion. One ask for future videos though, can you make the b-roll less shaky and more in focus, it's hard to read it. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
I just got the expansion as well, first spirits I tried were: Lure, Many Minds, and Vengeance (which I lost with, definitely need another play with them), all solo games.
Fractured Days took me a few games to handle, but boy this guy is strong and satisfying. I also still want to make Volcano work without Finder of Paths Unseen, but I can't. But it seems you don't have the promo pack ? Sad, both Finder and Downpour are amazing !

@@BeingFriends He's a weird one. He's like a support who needs support. But just skyrockets people out of control. Fractured Days + Shifting Memory has been my favorite pairing for me. Memory can give him the elements he needs to trigger his innate and just go crazy. Fractured Days can let Memory reclaim and play cards almost infinitely and fully use his +9 energy/turn, slamming 2-3 majors every turn at some point.
geeeeeez that’s a fantastic combo.. super excited to try that. Have you had enough success killing off invaders and generating enough fear to consistently win(especially at higher difficulties?) or is it maybe a bit too defense heavy?
@@BeingFriends stone generates a good bit of energy in the late game and that’s when I bust out the major powers. And then of course with spreading green I can get there pretty quickly.
honestly, the other day I played against Sweden for the first time, at level 3, and geeeez they suck. that extra blight, plus the way they assimilate the dahan sucks so bad 😭 granted, I played with Shadows with their strife aspect (which was a lot of fun) so i maybe didn’t know how to do well enough, since I almost never play shadows. But that strife was SO helpful!!! I’ve beaten Prussia 4 and 5 once each, with Prankster, then with Ocean/Lure respectively! They are tough! But I’ve done so much vanilla SI that I’ve got the fundamentals down pretty well, which prussia is just a better version of regular invaders tbh.
I think you can go without it, if you have Jagged Earth, but I will say, Branch and Claw has many many fantastic cards! Some of which are some of my favorites! For the price, I'd say its absolutely worth it.

Mist and Starlight are definitely my favorites, but Lure always feels good to play too. Breaking up cities early on already makes co-players gasp. Mist feels so fun spreading out and surrounding, using wounded invaders to cause fear. And Starlight is so versatile and fun, reacting to what you get and what you have to work with.
Haven't tried it myself, but from what I've seen, community reaction is that nun it's not so much WEAK as it is really, really difficult to use well. There are lots of little decisions involved from phase to phase, and the best move can be unintuitive. First priority when developing is to get that three fear per turn rolling. Try to stick with two card plays per turn as long as you can, and always be asking yourself where you need all your presence to be for this turn and the next.

Id love to figure it out more. now that i think about it, it could pair really well with stones unyielding defiance!! lands they are both in could easily just farm fear, bc stone keeps the blight from being a problem/damages them, and you could easily spread the damage just so you could get tons of fear. I’m stoked to try it!!
two card plays per turn goes a LONG WAY for most spirits. Spirits like Bringer are some of my faves, cause I can just go up on the energy and elements track, gain power cards and rarely reclaim 😍
@@IamJFD speaking of Shadows, the new aspects really do a lot for it. Amorphous matters so much more than I expected, and Madness introduces a whole new dimension to the available strategies. I feel like Shadows has been in beta until now.

I shoulda kept more in the video from that part then!!! We kept it mostly to the Spirits🤪 thats what most were here for anyways i think!
Finder and Vengence was the two i really enjoyed. And Mist won my heart after a few plays.

YES! isn't it brilliant? And yeah I'd honestly say ALL the expansion content for this game is a MUST have.
My top 3 spirits from Jagged Earth are Finder of Unseen Paths, Stone's Unyielding Defiance, and Volcano Looming High. There is so much fun stuff here!

If you pair Stone and Spreading Green, you can lock down a ton of the board and deny the invaders doing any real damage to you.
