So I don’t have a source for this it just makes sense to me, but I’m pretty confident that the reason we haven’t been able of the ocean as we have is the fact that the pressure down there is just too great compared to the vacuum of space which is actually fairly easy to explore once we get into it. It’s just the actually getting into space part that’s difficult as opposed to staying under such a mint pressure part for ocean exploration

We know about coastal areas and coastal life alot, because most of the oceanic life lives close to the shores. We have mapped most of the ocean, but studying the deep waters is 1. expensive and 2. takes alot of time.

While that statement about space and the ocean early paints a neat a picture of how little we know about both its not really true while we know 5 % of the ocean maybe, we know less than 1% of all of space infact we will never come to know a lot about space. If instead that quote said our own solar system maybe the nearest other system it would make sense but space is so infinite and some of it moves away from us faster than light travels thats its impossible for us to ever even seeing light from there

TLDR? Space has very, VERY little in the way. The ocean has a downright hilarious amount of water in the way.
