Hello everyone and welcome to today’s Extreme Bedroom Makeover on an extreme budget, we completely transformed this room under $200 (however My sons bedroom makeover budget was approx $280 so we have some money left over from Zoeys bedroom makeover to add some additional items to her room, which I will be sharing in a near future video) This is a DIY bedroom makeover, I cannot believe how amazing this room turned out! We found a fun surprise in her bedroom that completely elevated and transformed her room and the best part is, it was free! (I'll be doing the same to all the bedrooms YAY!) Zoey wanted a more mature look, she LOVES horses and wanted a Western…Vintage theme and I really think we pulled it off, she designed her room, just like my son designed his room and I think these bedrooms are 1000 times better than before! The kids absolutely LOVE their rooms, which makes my heart so happy! I linked everything new down below, but let me know if you have any questions, comment in the comment section of the video! Everything Else I already had on hand, minus some brushes, the wood putty and some other tools needed to complete this makeover. Total Spent was approx $190, we have money left over from the budget so in a future video we’ll be adding a new lamp & curtains, plus we have to finish the floor.

Looks beautiful. Maybe try putting her bed under the canopy on an angle to match the rug. That might look good too.

I think it’s the warmth factor, and it keeps the rooms quieter. It’s a northern climate thing for sure. It’s funny that when I was a teen, we moved into a house with real wood flooring in all the bedrooms. My mom couldn’t wait to get carpet in all those rooms! She grew up with hardwood floors and hated being cold all the time. To each their own. 😊. Really admire your DIY spirit! Hugs from Iowa!
I love the canopy right where it is. If she gets a small bean bag she can read in there. Great transformation. Perfect for a growing young girl.

Thats what I was thinking too, keep the canopy as a reading nook! I wasnt sure where exactly to place it, but Zoey seems to really love it there, she loves her room. These bedroom needed a serious makeover...next, Ian and I's room, well no, first the mudroom or the kitchen...maybe the basement...its a surprise 😆🤣🤣 Always so HAPPY to see you here with me! I’m so happy for you on the hard wood floors! Zoe’s floor is beautiful even with the flaws. You can probably sand that stain out of the floor. Floors are so much easier to clean.

Use your Murphy oil soap on the wood floors and they will be gorgeous ❤️
for lucas’s room, since there’s a bunch of light sabres maybe on a wall in his room you can put like a shelf/ hook thing so you can put up the light sabres and get them down when he wants to use them! also for the carpet you should turn it horizontally so it’s still covering the stain but it’s also like an entrance carpet!

Older houses are like a snowball running down a hill. When things start to go, all of it seem to go. It may not seem like it, but it is not the cosmos being against you, this is just normal for an older home. They get cranky, and the older they get the more finicky they become. It is not you Danny it is just an old house. Be kind to yourself, you are learning so much and inspiring others as you document and share your life with us. You are such a joy to watch. You a sweetheart, we love you and your adventures. Take a deep breath and tell yourself, as things break down, you get to replaced them, and you will eventually end up with a whole new house, and some cool stories to boot.
Isn't that the truth, I feel like when one thing goes wrong multiple things go wrong. This house is seriously cranky, like this house needs a nap and a sandwich kind of cranky 🤣 we never dealt with this kind of stuff in our last home / our first home because that home was a newer built home in a development, when we found this home I think I just assumed it would be the same, why I thought that is beyond me I'm pretty sure this home was built in 1965 maybe 1966 🤔 it actually may be a little older than that... somewhere in the early to mid-60s, we are definitely starting to figure out quickly that older homes definitely need more maintenance. But it's like you said, we're just upgrading the home and getting new things and these things hopefully will last a long time. That's the positive! You are the absolute sweetest, I cannot tell you enough how much that means to me. Thank you! I appreciate you so much. Hugs 🥰

YAY!!! So I got it right! Those are so dang cool, and there pretty inexpensive and there blackout curtains which is really nice! Im so glad you caught that! I wanted to make sure I was getting the right thing! I have to do more work in the kids bedrooms (and a complete makeover on Ian and I's room LOL...its pretty bad HA) so i'll incorporate those curtains and a new lamp, im excited for you to check that out in a future video! Yes, we have carpet in our bedrooms too, with tile in the bathrooms and wood throughout the rest of the house. In college I lived in a house that had carpet in the kitchen and bathroom 😬.

I think the canopy where it is is a great spot, maybe move the bed over a few inches so the canopy area can have a bit more space and like someone else said, put a little comfy chair or cushion there for her to sit under the canopy. The room looks great, very mature, great colors and style! And it's okay about the freak out, no need to feel bad about it because it's just you being honest and real about your emotions and showing us the ups and downs of your journey. Keeping my fingers crossed that your electrical problems will end!

The hardwood floors are amazing! Had an idea that maybe you could attach the Barbie dream house 🏡 and other dollhouse to wooden boards and then put wheels under it. It allows Zoe to easily move them around. AKA she can put it away and take it out herself easily🎉
We have carpet in the South aka Georgia in the whole house also. Recently got laminate wood flooring downstairs. Still got to get up stairs. 😊

Sweeet Job on the room!! You asked if you you should move the bed under the conopy but I would go the other way closer to the desk side making a bigger space to sit and read or text etc😉

I have the velcro curtains on my French doors that lead to my dining room. I love them. They work so great!!! When my kids come in we move the table all the way to the wall in the dining room and put the air mattresses in there. We just let the curtains down for their privacy and it's amazing!!!
I think the room looks amazing. Love the reading corner. The floors were an added bonus. Look forward to see what you do next. I just enjoy your channel so much.

Isn’t it just the best to find real original hardwood floors? I discovered the same thing in my old house after I had paid a company to put down new carpet and linoleum. We canceled the order and exposed my original floors were gorgeous. I’m so happy for you.🎉

You didn't just find hardwood flooring, you increased the value of your home! Oh, bless your heart. During the AC melt down I just wanted to give you a hug. That freak out was absolutely reasonable. Here's an idea for that square dark spot on the floor, if it doesn't sand out. Cut it out and put in a small floor safe. You cover it up with a small round rug and she has a special "hiding spot" for things she wants to hide from her brother. Who wouldn't want something straight out of a mystery novel?

Finding those floors is SO exciting! We have carpet in our bedrooms (except one daughter who has LVT) and in the living room. I wouldn't mind hard wood in the living room, but with as cold as it gets in PA I definitely prefer carpet when I'm walking around my bedroom.

You did an amazing job Danielle and I absolutely love the wood floors. Living in Florida I’ve always had tile floors and I do not like carpet at all. You just can’t clean carpet the way you can bare floors. Thanks for another job well done. It took me about 4 hours to watch this video between taking care of my two year old grandson and entertaining him and keeping him happy but I always manage to finish watching. I haven’t commented in a while but I’ve been watching. 🌴🌴🌴

What a special gem you found in zoes closet . I cant believe it hid from you all these years . Next time you check in and ask your house how are you feeling your house should start being more happy and start improving instead of falling apart bc it should be happy and thrilled to be showing off its natural hard wood beauty again . The hard wood floor is so pretty and breathes new life in to the room over the stained carpet that just holds on to every thing and just becomes a germ catcher over time.
So happy for you that its in all your bedrooms so all of you get to enjoy the nice suprise and get an added bonus of a make over in yalls room.

Yes, the room is great. About the canopy, I don´t think you should move the bed, move the canopy to be centered over the beds headboard.

Love it! So cute! Try the sponge mini rollers for paint. They are in expensive. You will love them!
I had similar doors in my daughters room. We used clear cabinet liner. It gives privacy but allows the light in. It looked like etched glass.
Love the change! Keep the canopy as a reading nook for Zoe. As for carpets- I think all cold regions have them, especially in winter; I was raised in Maine and my parents built their home in 1970 and there was carpet in EVERY. SINGLE. ROOM. Yea, even the kitchen and bathroom- it was the fad back then, 25 years later, the kitchen, bathroom and living room got ceramic tile; part of the reason for carpet is the cold floors in winter. I now live high in the mountains of CO and we have the original wood floors with area rugs, it was covered with carpet also (house built in 1938, carpet in late 60’s until we bought it in 2011 🤢).
You should get an edging brush. It makes painting so much easier.

It's beautiful! I hate having carpet. It's only upstairs because my mom and I pulled out the carpet in the living room. It's a pain to move things on carpet. And it stains, can smell. Hardwood is easier to manage. I'm not sure if I have hard wood upstairs. I'll be moving anyway. Congrats for your hard work.

Girl friend! I feel for you! I have pulled up carpet in an apartment I had lived in to save time for the installer I had to pull all the nails and tacks out too. It took me awhile but I did it! Never again! You did a fantastic job and your daughter is lucky to have a mom like you who loves her children and would do anything to make them happy! Loved the meltdown! When we did our home theater, we pulled up the 1970’s era carpet and found beautiful hardwood floors as well! All I had to do was take up the tack strips, vacuum and damp clean. My 53 year old floors looked brand new!
Holy crap!!! So very sorry about your AC going out! Literally happened to us 10 years ago when we were painting our family room! Luckily, it was an inexpensive fix but we had to replace the heat pump and furnace a few years later. Right after we got back from our Disney vacation!!!! LOL It was like the universe KNEW we had just spent a crap ton of money so it decided February was a great time to have a dead furnace!😳😁

Lol I have to ask this, from a fellow Minnesotan, do most people you know in MN have carpet? 🤣 I swear everyone I know in Minnesota has carpet, at least somewhere in their house ha. I want zero carpet in my home. I don't ever want carpet again. I could see the flooring getting a little cool though in the winter, I think that there's flooring, hardwood flooring, that is heated? Hi Danni! I love the wood floors. I used to have the same wood floor in my bedroom as a child. But I had to take the carpet out by myself. It was difficult for a teenager.
