The good old days... I've seen them live at an open air concert in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, early eighties. Well done again and certainly P-bass material.
would love to hear more about the compression. Been playing for a few years, and I have a compressionknob built into my Eden 1200 amp head, but not really sure how to utilize it as well as I should. Currently, I keep it cracked open on the dial at 11:00 (keeping in mind, 7:00 position is effectively "off" for the compression. Maybe my ears are not up to snuff, but cant tell too much of a difference when using compression on my bass.
I never use the compressor on my bass combo, because it doesn't do the job very well. Instead I set compression on my Digitech BP90, a multi effect pedal. I only have to set a level and a frequency range. It's pretty straight forward and it works well. My other option is a Boss LMB-3 Bass Limiter / Enhancer. This can be set up to be a very effective compressor. It features four controls: level, enhance, ratio and treshold. I never use the enhance control, because it only scoops out the mid range. Ratio controls the amount of compression, while treshold sets the low limit. Compression works best with the volume control(s) of the bass wide open. Some basses produce a rather low output, that may require a pre-amp or a DI box between the bass and the compressor. I happen to be admin of a bass guitar forum, called Low End Friends (www.lowendfriends.com/forum/). So feel free to step by and discuss compression with other bassists.
Rock on !
Thanks for taking some time! 👍😎🙂

woodyamsterdam Thanks! Yeah, the G&L is way too 'big' for this bassline.
