    See you down there mate… I’m doing exactly what you said not to do… will be on the start line undertrained and possibly carry niggles (fingers crossed they don’t pop back up).
    Regardless I’m looking forwards to some quality time with the SW coast path.
    Nice vid mate… I’m hyped :D

    I cycled 100 miles once, from London to New Forest and felt pretty beaten up. I've run a few marathons. I cannot begin to imagine how demanding The Arc would be. Good luck everyone that is competing 💪

    Great tips Loyd. Sorry to hear you may not be there. I've had to pull out of numerous races of the years but I think having to pull out of this year's Arc is perhaps the most disappointing (maybe equal with having to pul out of Challenge Roth one year).
    I wish everyone the very bust of luck. 👍✌

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure 2 года назад +1

      Thanks Ian, I'm glad you think so. It's definitely a shame but it's also the right thing to do. Going into a race like the Arc, unfit or carrying some niggles is a recipe for disaster! 👍
      The race isn't going anywhere mate so hopefully we can both be towing the start line next year 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️
      Thanks for watching and supporting, as always its appreciated 🙏

    Some really good tips here Loyd and I would add that its not one for beginners to 100 milers at all. Ive done plenty of ultras and 100 milers now but am yet to finish the Arc and because of where it is geographically its very hard for me to recce and run the trails and coastpath regularly and for me thats the key to success on this one, knowing the course and its pitfalls and never more so than any other course except perhaps the UTMB and the likes.
    Could I also add that i have had plenty of time in the bag in that first two phases up to Lands End but all goes to waste over the that section from Pendeen to St Ives.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure 2 года назад

      You're right Phil, it's definitely not a 100 miler for first timers. I do spend a lot of time saying that but no one seems to listen to me 😂
      I suppose sometimes as runners we have to learn things the hard way. I personally think it's a lot more sensible to put your body and mind through 100 miles for the first time on a less challenging route and maybe not it winter 😊
      As you know you learn so much when you complete that kind of distance for the first time and I'm not sure the Arc route is the place to do that. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊

  • @ianl4518

    To me, AoA seems like a mad adventure where the weather would be an integral part of it and you could test yourself over a day and a half.
    I was dot watching the Spine Race last week and those people doing it over 5/6 days. Utter madness.😱

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure 2 года назад +1

      The weather can definitely play a massive factor in the race Ian. The first time I ran the Arc it was bright blue sky's and sunshine! The second time it wasn't as friendly, we had 70mph gusting winds and heavy rain for the whole of the race 🌧️
      However the Spine Race is a completely different kind of beast all together, definitely not a race for me! 😲 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏

    Like you I'm quite familiar with the area, my ultimate aim is to enter this, but I've been told I'll need a teammate who will act as support and be in the right place at the right time, to supply water and other bits.
    I can manage a marathon, but burned out just short as it seems I go through double the calories most do.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure 2 года назад

      You don't have to have crew, you can run the Arc unsupported Darren. I think it's a much tougher race if you do choose to be unsupported though. I've always had support when I've run it 👍
      Are you thinking of entering the 100 or the 50 and have you run anything like this before? 🤔

    • @Run4Adventure

      Thanks and you should definitely enter the race one year 👍
      Shoe choice is tough for this race and it really depends on weather conditions on the day. It's also a very varied route so it's good to have several shoes with your crew 😊
