  • This video shows how to use Events in FCPX to organize video footage during import, and also shows how Final Cut Pro will make "Keywords" and organize your footage automatically.

thank you. question though, if I organized and drag my folder in FCP and I downloaded a new file and put that new file in the same folder in finder will it be automatically loaded in FCP as well?

Hi! No is the simple answer. FCP won't recognize a new file in your finder folder. You have to drag or import the file into FCP. If in your import settings are clicked to " leave files in place"then FCP will only reference the file where it came from. If you move the file or change the name it will go offline. If in the import settings you have checked "copy files to library" then that file will be duplicated in the FCP library and won't go offline if you move or rename the original file. Hope that helps. 🙂

@@finalcutproclasses so everytime I downloaded a new clip and organize it in finder I still need to import it and organize it again inside FCP even I already import the original folder in FCP? It would be so much easier if the folder in finder is linked already FCP. So I don't have to import every new clip in FCP when I already organize it in the beginning.
Sorry for my bad english. Hope u understand what I meant

That is correct. FCP only imports the clips you tell it to import. It does not import clips that you add to the finder folder even, if that whole folder was imported in FCP.
