    Just a little tip. Once you’ve drained the oil, before you remove the oil filter, stab a hole in the bottom of it and let the oil drain out into your bucket. That way you won’t end up with an absolute mess.

    UPDATE
    I am now using Penrite 10w 40 Fully synthetic and find that the engine runs better and doesn't blow black smoke under load💯
    The Castrol is also not recommended for cars with DPF's.
    Happy servicing Legends!🍻

    Just a suggestion - you may have overtightened the oil filter. It should not be necessary to use any tool to tighten as it will be too tight to loosen next time. 2/3 of a turn after the seal contacts is usually written on the filter or in the manuals. And "start" the fuel filter before removing the bracket might be an option - I'm just brushing up here before my first Pajero home service. And couldn't see if you prefilled the fuel filter - but I have no diesel in containers to do that myself.
    Apologies if already covered in comments - time poor.

    • @budget4x4life
      @budget4x4life  2 года назад +2

      Hey matey yes I did not overtighten it...just gave it a small turn but should be ok😄
      Also I had to remove the fuel filter bracket to loosen the filter cause it was super stuck😄 couldn't get my hands in there properly. And no I just put filter on and primed it😊 cheers💯

    very useful video, I'm curious how is the chassis...is it the tipical chassis of a 4x4 or the chassis of a SUV? thanks in advance

    • @budget4x4life
      @budget4x4life  10 месяцев назад +2

      It is not a steel chassis. The Pajero has a monocoque body (single shell) and a chassis in a ladder frame design. This provides greater rigidity without any increase in weight.

    I just got a 2017 pajero and it is having issues starting wont take till a few times in. I am going to try and prime it before starting next time (see if its firm) to see if it is fuel related and not glow plugs. Is it common for a air or fuel leak around the fuel filter? Maybe the fuel filter housing at the bottom. Just want to start with most common issues.

    • @budget4x4life
      @budget4x4life  4 месяца назад +1

      If over 200km probs glow plugs. If car starts with a bit of white smoke most likely plugs. Wont hurt to prime the car to see what happens 🤞🏼

    Did you ever consider the petrol variant of the Paj swb? What's your thoughts on it (if you weren't towing anything). There's an 08 Paj swb that I know about with 95k on it for $17-18k. Never been off-road. But I've always wanted the diesel variant. I plan on using it as a daily and beach trips, trip or two up the cape etc in the future.

    • @budget4x4life
      @budget4x4life  2 года назад +1

      Hey Josh. Yeah depends on what you want to use it for. I didn't want the petrol just because I use it as a daily and it had more power to tow. Keep in mind it will not be good on fuel if you load it up and do beach work. I reckon the petrol will be over 15L even 20L per 100 on the beach keeping high revs through thick sand etc.
      If I had 2 cars then maybe yes I would consider the petrol. I will only buy the petrol to use offroad only but definitely not for a daily or touring. I will rather buy a diesel with 200k for the same price. Also not the end of the world if you can't find a shorty. You can get a good nic 4dr for around 14k with 200k on the clock. Good luck with the search🙂💯

    Using 15w40 instead of 5w30 for diesel, isn't that too thick ?

    • @budget4x4life
      @budget4x4life  2 года назад +3

      From my experience and knowledge Diesels should at least run on 10w 40 in Australia and 15w 40 for those over 200km. The thicker oil will result in better protection and engine wear. 5w30 is very thin and only effective to about 30° weather which in Aus is too low. If you're in colder climate that should be fine but not where you get 30° and above days🙂💯

      @@budget4x4life That is discussion with many feelings and no real info. This engine is old and robust type, so it can handle any oil. But im not sure about the VG turbo.. I dont know castrol AU, but in europe..its average oil with premium prices and premium marketing. It was proved by few magazines, last time by svet motoru this year which has done lubricity tests under pressure. Synthetic is not about DPF. For DPF vehicles its recomended (for longer DPF life..not engine! ) ACEA C1-C2 or C3 mid saps (sulfuric ash), low saps oil. Full synthetic with full saps spec is superior to semisynth, it doesnt brake down, it doesnt burn so easily, it will stay cleaner and it makes more than semisynth. I used Total oils in my garage since 2004. But if i love the car, i use valvoline :) Its cheap and it goes the extra mile in protection and cleaning. Ofcourse there are better oils for more money, but valvoline is one of the best.
