I don’t think this is the best showcase of Catas being OP. Valdemar went 2TC into castle age, made a grand total of 5 dark age spearmen and a nest of bees, and didn’t wall his base If he had scouted the 1st Hill Cistern, he’d have been better prepared. I imagine he wouldn’t have committed to a castle age and instead built walls and spearmen and *then* go for a castle age
i dont think taxes are OP. english enclosure certainly is. i did a test yesterday: 100 farms -> english vs imp academy 3 granaries on 3 corners, rest filled up with fields and mills (hard to pull off due to space requirements) english avg gold income: ~960/min taxes (managed to collect all) from imp academy farms: ~500/min maybe spamming spearmen from barracks generates more gold, but that gets interrupted with unit cap, so i found food production to be the most reliable and best option for passive gold from taxes. maximum run distance per field worker: 2 fields i agree, taxes start making gold early vs an imp upgrade, but in late game pop capped, the efficiency drastically falls off. let alone the difficulty to scaling. english can easily fit a mill somewhere, the tax system requires you to focus your food production around the academy.
@@dali1384 hear me out. What if both are insane. Taxation in the early mid game is pretty ludicrous for what you generate. Try an archer only feudal game and see how much tax you have by about 15 minutes. Your mind will be blown. Enclosures may be stronger but its kicking in at a deeper point
@@KillerPigeon i agree that taxes are super strong early-mid. i still question the matter, if english need such an insane and easy free gold source in comparison to others. even a 5 relic regniz wont beat that. trade will beat it eventually, but is not as easy to set up / protect.

Prostagma!
Vortix said it when he read the patch notes, the nerf is minimal, really. I haven’t lost a single 1v1 match that I went Cistern yet (since the nerf).
