    I think many are too scared of the word Sex, that they forget to highlight the word "Education"
    This is an inspiring story from Andrea Barrica

    I think talking about sex is the first step. It can feel uncomfortable at first, but it's natural. Just like talking about good hygiene or eating habits. It's a part of who we are. It's always okay to ask, and if your parents won't talk to you, ask a friend, a teacher, or do a safe-search online. Resources, like LGBTQ centers, can help. You can also reach out to organizations like The Trevor Project.

    Awesome! Unfortunately, my parents did not talk to me about sex as a child. Their only message? Do not get her pregnant. Not much of a sex education at all.

    As someone that has a lot of knowledge about Filipino culture - I have a Filipina wife and kids and lived in the Philippines for over 16 years - the culture is ass backwards when it comes to sex education. Filipinos basically want to stick their heads up their asses and not talk to their kids about sex.
    The Philippines has a huge teen age pregnancy rate, which would be bad if they were a first world country. But the FACT the Philippines is a poor third world country makes the teenage pregnancy rate even more alarming. When you see children on the streets almost everywhere, because young girls with no money, no support, nothing, are getting pregnant it is very sad.
    I totally support your vision of sex education and being open about sex. It can make a really positive difference with people all over the world.

    You are doing a wonderful service for everyone, I did not say job since if it were, you would not have the same passion. As for your parents, they too have been your students, you too are your parents student, goes to show that we all learn rrom each other, you are never too old , never. You might be saying, what does this guy know, well i am a 72 year old Filipino American, i can relate. Persue your dreams, you have already filled a gap no one wants to go to, the field is yours and all the nay sayrers will come around. You can also bridge the gap with HS students who rarely get to talk to their parents. that too is an open field, all the best. My wife and i are scheduled to be in the states visit with my kids (Sam Mateo/Union City) maybe we can drop by your place and say hi. I lived in Piedmont must be close to your office. Take care, be safe, all the best.

    I'm a mom to a 17 years old boy so at school meetings; whenever I get the chance to share my parenting style, I received a lot of raised eyebrows and silence. They've stopped asking me btw. Lol! But, I would never ever again share sex education to those who thinks religions sets everything in their life. No sorry. I have to teach my kids how to protect themselves and their partners - not to get sick nor pregnant. What I learned was that, community shunned those unique individuals and ideas, specially if its backed by science. Keep going girl. You're my new #girlcrush KUDOS!

    thank you for the kind gesture. if i may also add, how making love with the opposite sex is also in the Holy Bible. Its not all about sex, its about love. I respect people's choices in life however, as a friend ofJesus Christ, i have to say this...that He loves us so much even tho we dont love him that much yet...Godspeed

    Our Filipino heritage is a gift and a blessing and we are all the more fortunate because our culture and faith is way ahead of W.H.O. or any government agencies. We as Filipinos do hope that someday we get a broader vista of the events and trends happening in our society, and be more grateful we have and we came from families who support us as we spread our wings and fly and come back to our families. Wishing you all the best life can and has to offer. Mabuhay sa ating Panginoong Hesukristo!

      It sucks because every time I hear the words: "Filipino culture", "Filipino heritage", and things like that, I only see bad things and feel disgusted. There really is nothing positive about our culture and heritage. Our culture and mindset are way too backward. It's not adapted to the 21st century at all. We pinoys have a lot to prove because deep down we all know that we're lagging far behind civilized country. The best we can do is playing the victims and relying on other countries. That's pretty much it.

    • @jamesdavis8731
      @jamesdavis8731 Год назад

      @@Venus-dg6vi I totally agree and I hate to actually agree. My wife is Filipino, my kids are half Filipino. I lived in the Philippines for over 16 years. I know the culture very well. The Filipino mentality is so far behind most of the rest of the world.
      What you said in your comment is 100% dead on accurate and if anyone disagrees they don't know Filipino culture or they don't want to wake up and be honest. And your comment about Filipinos playing the victim and relying on others and other countries is EXACTLY true. I see it with my extended Filipino family and almost every Filipino I have ever met.
      The Philippines will not become the country it can be until Filipinos decided to change. Decide to hold themselves accountable and stop making excuses.

    • @jamesdavis8731
      @jamesdavis8731 Год назад

      The sooner YOU realize that your heritage is actually NOT a blessing the better off you will be. To say a heritage is a blessing when that heritage has led to all sorts of pain and misery for millions upon millions of people is sort of shocking. Take a look at the comment below from another Filipino. That Filipino hit the nail on the head.
      The Filipino attitude needs to desperately change. It is a culture that is far behind. A culture of insecurity. A culture that seems to think others and the world owes them something. A culture that literally uses and abuses their OFW's, while many of them sit on their asses and do nothing to get educated or ahead in the world.
      If I had a dollar for every time an OFW complained about their lazy families and friends always asking for money, I would have enough money to take a very nice vacation. Your culture is far behind the rest of the world in many areas - the areas are too many to list here. If, as a Filipino, you want your country to prosper - then focus on changing your attitude and the attitudes and the Filipinos you know.
      The world doesn't owe you a thing. Foreigners don't owe you a thing. Get educated and while doing so include sex education as part of your education. The things I have heard Filipinas say about sex are so absurd it is hard to believe someone would even believe them. The lack of basic sex education is stunning at times. The amount of naked kids, or barely dressed little kids, running the streets begging for money is one of the saddest things you will ever see. And it is a site very common in the Philippines because young girls are bringing kids into this world when they are just kids themselves. And don't get me started on the Catholic church.

      @@jamesdavis8731 Sad but true. Filipinos have absolutely no principles. They only respect Money, Power, and a Strong Face that represents Authority. That's why there's no stop traffic lights nor stop signs in the Philippines. These are objects and Filipinos won't respect them. They only respect a "strong face" that represents authority. During Duterte"s brutal lockdown, cops have been dressed as soldiers and were walking around with bamboo sticks to gain respect from the people. Some people who dId not respect the absurd rules have been shot, torture and even thrown in cages. Notice that no one tried to defend them. The traditional Filipino logic is that authoritarian government employees are unquestionable. Tthey're always right about everything, no matter what. We blindly respect our elders and authorities.
