having a guitar, a bass, and a drumkit, a band can be technically classified to be playing 'rock' songs, yet most people were used to listening rock music where they feel like headbanging, 'rock' could be a very wide wide wide range for maroon5, they're just, uhm you know, exploring the band's versatility, i think. although M5 became Gaga-ish in their overexposed songs, I think they still deserve to be playing in Rock in Rio. Man, they're way bigger than that album. :)
They're talented, when they aren't using all the studio tricks in the book on the last album. Just bring it back to basics and they will be just as good as the SHOULD be

Wow they ruined one of their best songs... I don't know what happen to these guys. I knew them before they were famous when they were playing at cafe's. Mainstream stole them away.
Ketan Pathak Well they do deserve to play at Rock in Rio. Songs about Jane is a mix of pop rock and alternative, their sophomore album was funk rock and Hands all over soul-influenced pop rock. Yes leave out Overexposed and V, they are electropop, but again some songs like Lucky Strike, Maps, This Summer, Sex and Candy( although cover) are quite rock. Enough explanations man :P
+sahil dhawan Not everything has to be the same. Talent can be seen when you are not boxed in to a particular genre or style and have great song writing skills, if they are writing the majority of their own songs of coarse. They have great rhythm and timing, just a great groove. Hey and I freakin love Megadeth and Iron Maiden at Rock in Rio.
