I just found you, and I’d say I’m so so glad I did! You’re the only one who does several updates on the mimosa tree I planted from seeds. Actually planted 18, and they all sprouted! I’m now working on Esperanza trees! I also have orange, grapefruit, and lime trees all grown from seeds myself! Hoping they all do well! Thanks for your video uploads I really do appreciate them!
Outdoors And Botanical thank you. I have never thought I had the ability to grow things. I’m 40 and growing so many different things thanks to people like you giving me courage to just try!
They look AMAZING and soooooooo cute and they look almost identical to my Bundleflower seedlings, I will make an update on them in the coming days :-) thanks so much for the update and for sharing Aaron and sending tons of love and happy growing from Ireland to Canada and have a FAB weekend ahead XXXX:-)
I'd really be surprised if mine even sprout out because bugs have started to eat the seeds I have so I'm just gonna plant all what I have so whatever comes up is what I'll get from those old beans
I am private tutoring to young boys. We have been germinating seeds to watch development and growth. The boys are loving it and it is the first thing they run to when they arrive at my home. We have started green beans and mimosa trees. I would like to start learning about creating a bonsai out of the mimosa seedlings... Any insight to starting this project?
How much sunlight did you give them? I am trying to grow one and I live in hot New Mexico, so I fear giving them too much direct sun because I do not want them to burn and dry up
How hot was the water- boiling hot? And did you keep adding hot water to maintain a certain temp over the 24hr soak period, or did you let the temp fall to room temp and remain that way? Have you found a way to overcome them dying when they reached a certain age?
Havent figured it out, i read that its a dormancy so to keep taking regular care and they will bounce back. I dont use boiling water, just hot water that is a bit hotter than comfortable on your hand. I let the temp keep falling
@@OutdoorsAndBotanical ok cool then I suppose one could just as well transfer the seeds to fairly damp soil at roughly the point when the water they've been soaking in has dropped to room temp. I'm giving it a try and following your colleague's tip of cutting the tips of the seeds off. Fingers crossed!
Good luck! Soaking in water allows constant soaking on all areas of the seed, whereas damp substrate doesmt really saturate the seed with water. Should still work but may take longer
Im not 100% sure what your talking about. Do you mean the pink balls that grow on the tree? Those are the flowers and will eventually form a seed pod yes.
Which mimosa? Hostilis? Pudica? Anyone know if the leaves of the Hostils are also "shy'? I have a year old seedling that the leaves fold up at night but NOT to the touch ...So I am wondering the accurate ID ?
Hey, so sorry for the very late reply. This comment was sent to the spam folder for some reason. RUclips doesnt do a great job at filering comments lol. This is mimosa tree, scientific name being albizia julibrissin. Some people also call it the persian silk tree. The leaves arent sensitive to touch, but they do curl up at night.
Outdoors And Botanical I think you may want to keep them dry-ish, and very warm for a long long time.? I’m kind of worried now! I have 18 doing well so far... nervous!!!!!
Also, I’m near Houston, Texas, so maybe it’s climate? But my moms trees just grow from the one tree she has dropping seeds. She is tired of it being that it’s around 15-20 years old. She has a sandy yard, but plants love her soil. She has so many different plants and trees. I’m hoping mine do well I’m so nervous because I heard they were “easy” to grow, and hardy. Hers sure are!!!
+The bro Zone I scarify them from the pointed end. Just get some sand paper or a file and file the pointed end until you get through the brown shell. Then soak in water over night. And you should have some great Success! Good luck, happy growing
They cant survive the climate where i am, u fortunately they didnt survive past the seedling stage for some reason so i wasnt even able to get them big enough to over winter them in the house. Maybe ill try again soon
I would say yes... my mom has them in a highly grassy but sandy yard, and mine grew from just general regular potting soil from Lowe’s. Mine sprouted in 3 days, and all I did was soak in water for 24 hours. They swelled up nicely. I didn’t scratch mine but they still are doing so well. All 18 I planted are 🌱 looking like hers same timeline.
I spoke to a chap yesterday and his advice was to let them grow slowly . Thinking optimal would be to start in the spring outdoors. He harvested his seeds on a vacation in Chile and he continues to harvest seeds from his plants that he grows now.
Not sure if this would also apply to Silk Mimosa but I am reading instructions on Desert Rose Seed Package that just arrived in my mail today: Repotting into common cactus soil is possible after one year. Do -not- Keep the plant in temperatures below 12* - 16* C during winter, water little and do -not- fertilize. A winter period too cool or a DRYNESS period to strong will make the plant entering a resting period, during which it will shed all its leaves. So maybe a humidifier in the winter would save the Silk Mimosa during dormancy ?....
I tried that recently. One plant a pot. And they still got to the same age and died. I read that they dont do well indoors, so i might plant some outside and see. Thanks :)
huhuhuhubuhhhhhh! i went to the ebay page youve linked and it had one one review calling you a rip off because you took money yet your product was never delivered. huhuhuhhhhh typical lesbian dope fiend behavior!!!
Hey, not sure what you are talking about, i went into my ebay to check if i had a review like that, and all my reviews are positive. I have yet to get a negative review, so not sure where you got your information from. My goal is to get people into this hobby, not rip them off. If any problems ever occur, i do my best to resolve them.

Desert Plants of Avalon yes! Years later and I’m so glad these videos are here!!!
I'll be trying this out! Thank you for showing the way
Do you keep the soil moist while the seedlings are growing? How much sun do they get?
Excellent beautiful plant good video
How long til you will plant them on the ground? Thank you for the video?

I dont know too much about bonsai, but if you google the channel the bonsai zone you should find some good info!
How often did you water them? I had one mimosa sprout and it died almost immediately, now the others are coming and I'm a little nervous.
How much sunlight did you give them? I am trying to grow one and I live in hot New Mexico, so I fear giving them too much direct sun because I do not want them to burn and dry up
I just have them in a bright window, nothing to special. but I think they like full sun. but in Mexico it's hot so I would give them partial shade.
+Outdoors And Botanical ok thank you!
+Nicole Sanchez no problem. I will be doing another Giveaway at 200 subs, so keep sharing and I hope I get there soon. thanks
Nicole Sanchez I live in Louisiana my neighbor has one in full sun all day everyday unless raining but in full sun

Are there seeds within the small round balls or are those flowering pods?
Im not 100% sure what your talking about. Do you mean the pink balls that grow on the tree? Those are the flowers and will eventually form a seed pod yes.
@@OutdoorsAndBotanical my wife clipped a few green balls off of what she believed to be a mimosa.
Ah yes probably seed pods but unripe

Did you plant outside finally? How are they doing by now?
No they didnt live long enough. I cant figure them out haha,

Do you recommend me to cut or sand the seeds? Thank you.
Yes i do. I have a video on that
Hi.. I like ur video.... i just want to know... how did u scarified them... from the front end or from the back end?

Where did you get the seeds from? Did you get them from the pods that like ok like pea pods
I got them on listia
Did the trees live? You you hate them yet?
They cant survive the climate where i am, u fortunately they didnt survive past the seedling stage for some reason so i wasnt even able to get them big enough to over winter them in the house. Maybe ill try again soon
@@OutdoorsAndBotanical I live in the south and those tree's here are HIGHLY aggressively Invasive. They will take over a garden in a heartbeat!
Wow! Didnt know that! Our winters are too cold. It drops to -30 or -40 sometimes
Can I use any brand of soil for mimosa tree? Can I use peat with already added fertilizer for M. Pudica?
Ive never looked to much into that. I would google it.

Do you water them daily?
+Puppylover21 I water them when they look a little dry. And usually I water from the bottom until they are completely wet through
How far apart should one plant these trees in ones yard?
I am honestly not to sure, but i would say a minimum of 3 feet apart because these grow extremely fast,
hey, how did you cut and soak them?
I cut the pointed end slightly and soaked them in water for 24 hours. I have a video on how i did it. Its newer than this video
i did this method and literally one of my trees looks like a 2 week old tree and its 5 days old
Thats awesome! Glad to hesr youve had good results
I didn't need to snip ends presoaked and 2 days they were sprouted to an inch all ten germinated including 1 runt seed
Wow! Ive never tried without snipping lol. Maybe i never needed to haha
I would like to see what yours look like now have you seen them dormant yet ? What do they look like dormant ?
They seem to die when they try to go dormant so i am not sure. Sorry. When yours go dormant let me know. Thanks happy growing

Show more of the mimosa’s please
These ones died, they tend to get a certain size for me and then just die. I wikk try them again soon.
Maybe try one or two seeds to a pot so they don’t stress as much I know it takes more room for more pots but might work better. Good luck.
I tried that recently. One plant a pot. And they still got to the same age and died. I read that they dont do well indoors, so i might plant some outside and see. Thanks :)
Try air layering or cuttings from parent tree or bush. Might get better luck on growing if you really want a mimosa tree
I live in cold cold canada aha. No mimosa trees here. I ordered the seeds online. Unfortunately no cuttings for me 😓
Not easy... That's rong..
