I am very happy with the Cosori Air Fryer. It's the perfect size for the two of us. I like the fact there's very little oil being used - that helps with cooking a bit healthier ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB for the two of us. The biggest tip is do not put parchment paper - the pre-cuts are very nice - in the basket during the pre-heat setting. You will catch it on fire. Also use Avocado Oil if you're using oil. It has a high smoke point to it. RUclips has been great with finding recipes for the Air Fryer.

Nice review, but I would have liked to see the cooking results without boiling the potatoes first. If I'm gonna fork out 175 dollars for an airfryer I want it to be able to cook the potatoes raw.

I hear frozen french fries come out perfect. Just a side note. So maybe frozen wedges will be faster (maybe not as healthy.)

I have two different air fryers, and I love them. The two I have cost way less than the Phillips brand, so there are cheaper ones out there. "Fried" chicken comes out crispy and tastes even better than deep fried chicken. The inside is juicy, the outside is moist. I also make fries in mine, but I have never boiled the potatoes first. I just cut them, blot them dry, toss them in a bowl with a little olive oil, paprika, salt and pepper and mix lightly. They come out tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside and taste way better than deep fried ones. BTW, this was the first video of yours that I have watched, but it won't be the last. Great job.

For anyone who cooks, a major consideration on these cooking machines/utensils would be how easy they are to clean. You might want to touch on that in the future.

I have a Todo model air fryer. It is absolutely so easy to clean and I was most impressed at just how quickly it cooks meat. I can cook chicken for dinner faster in this than it takes my rice cooker to make the rice! Stir fry takes 15 minutes, chicken in 30. Lovely! Doesn't heat up my kitchen in the summer time for 3 hours! Worth every penny!

Since you have to boil them first and cool couldn't you do the same thing in the oven but instead of baking them use the broiler to crisp up the outside?

    • @ReZShot

yes this would've worked and it would've took the starch out of the potato, which also makes it taste better. :)

The two things I don't care for (we have one) is the lengthy prep time etc and the size of the inside. I have a family of 5 so I have to do that lengthy process several times to make enough food.

looks like my parents wasted their money. smt the thing is huge and we don't have teh bloody space in my small kitchen. they keep making me want to move out more and more. we're a family of 3, we don't eat a lot of fried food, and I'm trying to be healthy so I plan to do that even less. they are sold you can cook near damn anything in there, and they better be right.

I cook for 2 elderly people who love "old school" fried foods. One of them owned a Philips air fryer but had never used it, so I was free to try it without the expense of buying one myself. WOW!! I LOVE it! One of my favorite treats is fried chicken skin. Raw chicken skin rinsed and dried with paper towels, a sprinkling of salt and pepper, then dredged in flour. Into the air fryer at 390 degrees for about 10 minutes, turning over at least once. The skins turn out delightfully crisp and tasty. What a treat! I save the chicken fat at the bottom of the fryer, refrigerate it in a clean glass jar, and use it here and there in different recipes.

I got the Big Boss Air Fryer and it was $75 on Amazon, it is made of real thick glass and you can actually see the food cooking. I have made fries in it, buffalo chicken strips, and roasted veggies and meats. I use it as a fryer and as an oven. I love mine because I dont have a full size kitchen here in my kitchen studio so its perfect as a fryer and an oven.

I too own the Big Boss and highly recommend it.. I love how the lid turns over and sits inside the bowl so its easier to store.. I've cooked steaks, burgers, fries, roasted pork and beef and whole chickens in it.. it always turns out great food.. I even do biscuits but they have to be flipped over for the bottoms to brown.. well worth it tho for the taste and speed.

Thug Thanos Not so much consuming less calories, but eating foods that I would not eat before because of all the fat. For example, I would never really eat fries because if you eat them out, not only are they loaded with fat, but loaded with the worst artery clogging inflammatory fat their is, hydrogenated oil. I can have chicken wings also with out the added grease and calories. I have over 13 recipes on my channel that I made with it that I can enjoy from time to time with out the guilt trip.

Boiling for 25 minutes?? What's the point of the fryer? Just boil and broil then.

    • @dannydee9919
      @dannydee9919 5 лет назад +4

The point of the "air fryer" is to "fry". Hence the "fryer" in "air fryer" . What did you think it did? You thought it planted, grow , rinse and wash, slice, season and serve them on fancy French perle dinnerware?

I bought this air fryer last week with my girlfriend. We love it! I used red potatoes for the air fryer. I sliced them up into wedges and let them soak in water for 20 minutes. Took them out dried them off a little bit of olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder. They came out amazing! No need to boil them. They always come out golden brown with a nice crisp.

    Kevin
I had it for more than a year. I like it but I'm not madly in love. The only downside I can think of is it's too small to do meal prep on.
I know people here in my community who are religious about their air firers!! I've even seen instigram and snapchat accounts dedicated for airfry recipes and how to take care of the machine.
To me it's a real time saver, I find it way more faster than the oven. I always do burgers and french fires in it, yah not the healthiest but much better than take out!

We just got an air fryer and in experimenting phase. We appreciate the videos. Have cooked fries and chicken wings. The fries are not the same as deep fried, but love them just the same. The chicken wings we believe are better than deep fried.Fro researching different recipes we have noticed great differences in cook temps and times. Quite eager to see this device perfected, lots of potential. We did wings at 360 for 30 min with dry rub with coconut oil, just a little. The skins were very crispy and the meat was juicy, no flour or batter. No way to replicate in a regular oven .

I bought the Cuisinart TOA-60 Air Fryer. The reason I bought this was because its much more compact than most of the bigger units out there, Its stainless so it goes with all my other appliances and it game me a 3 year warranty unlike others that gave 90 days up to 1 to 2 years. I do not eat meat so I didnt need a big bulky one like the one in the video. I have cooked potatoes in my air fryer without having to boil first. It also does a lot more than just air dry: 7 functions including air fry, convection bake, convection broil, bake, broil, warm, and toast Allow you to choose between the bake, toast, broil, and more oven features

If you boil them first and have a baking sheet ready they will come out the exact same. You don't even have to wait for them to cool.
Just boil them until soft but still firm and place them in the oven at 415 and bake for 30.

Hey Kev great review on this air fryer I've been looking at them in the stores But didn't know too much about them or which one to get ?
this Philips airfryer looks pretty cool the price I think a little too high but in the long run I think it's a much better and healthier way to eat
I have a Q&A so say I want to fry up some veggies cauliflower zucchini Exedra but wanted to chicken wings also do I have to dump that oil and wash out the container and put new oil in it ??? I know I know I know it's a silly question lol but had to ask
P.S. I think as far as boiling the potatoes then letting them cool down yeah I might seem like a lot of work but for me I do prep meals so I think the night before well I'm cleaning up the kitchen after dinner I will just boil the potatoes throw them in the fridge for the next day them put them in the Phillips air fryer
    just a thought lol
    Hugs & Love xoxox

Nice job on the comparison, sir! I've always wanted to see one of these in action. Thanks!
FYI: Fries [that are good] are usually a "double-cooked" item. That's how the fast food folks do them, as well. (The vendor provides the 1st cook, then freezes them.) That said, a more even comparison would have been to boil and refrigerate ALL of the fries, then bake half of them in the oven and cook the other half in the air fryer.
And, you can probably save time in the future on this recipe by boiling the potatoes a day before you plan on frying them. Now your "day of" prep time is about 10 minutes!

The reason the recipe calls for boiling then cooling after in the beginning is refered to as blanching. Its what gives fries their texture. You could just throw them in there and cook them without blanhing, but no matter how you cook fries, the boiling and cooling first to blanch makes a huge difference.

Fries and wedges are always better when made from pre-cooked (boiled or steamed) potatoes - regardless of whether you're finishing them in a deep fryer, or oven (including convection ovens like the air fryer.) As per the air-fryer recipe, cool the pre-cooked potatoes down then slice them, then bake/fry them. The center gets creamy, like you mentioned, and the outside gets crisper.
I'd be interested in what you think if you used the same starting point for both machines (oven/fryer).

She just made them how she normally does and we cooed them for about 15 minutes and 😮 wow!!! They were good. It’s amazing to see how much grease wings already have. I recommend getting it. Now, I’m not sure how we are gonna clean this.

Airfryers don't cook evenly. If they did, all the major fast food chains would switch to it as a way of being healthier.
It won't give you the same taste as deep fried foods which use more oil.

Isn't the purpose of not eating fried food to cut out excessive oils/calories? so what's the point of buying an air fryer if you still have to use oil.

    • @megadancefan
      @megadancefan 7 лет назад +49

Konna Deep frying uses a lot of oil. his method uses so little oil, you couldn't even gain weight from that. it was like a tsp for the entire pan of fries, versus cups of oil to deep fry.

Great review, thank you. I was wondering if I prepared the potato wedges ahead of time (according to the recipe) and made a large bag of them to freeze, would they turn out the same? Frozen to air fried? I think this would save on the prep. time and make it possible for my daughter to enjoy them with the same ease as using a store bought bag of fries. Thanks in advance for your answer.
