You are the bob Ross of appliance repair. I don't need to change that seal but that was the best repair video I've ever seen. You should add some adjectives like happy little spring or neat little screw etc. Thanks bro!!
Excellent video. Editing is spot on, giving the necessary steps without wasted time/talking. Quick & to the point. Much appreciated. I'm sure LG is not happy about it though. This is a job many would be too intimidated to attempt, without such a great video, so they'd just "buy a new one". I know I was thinking we'd need to, especially after reading stuff of forums saying it costs nearly as much to have it repaired, as it would to get a new one. Thank you. :) My parts just came in today so I'll update after we tackle the job, this weekend.
seems that the two halves are not in alignment to me. I have replaced the gasket and put it back together I feel there will be water on the floor when the tub fills .. seems like there should be some silicone or something that the halves sink into or something . good video though
Thanks, glad the video could help you out with your repair! The gasket is what prevents the outer tub from leaking, so there should be no need for silicone. If the two outer tub halves don't seem to be aligning or fitting together properly, or the tub is still leaking, then there is another problem besides the washer seal.
I always use silicone grease on o-rings. Not only does it help avoid leaks but it extends the life of the seals. Don't use petroleum jelly, that will break them down over time. One tube from Amazon will last many many years.
@ Joel101R I have Silicone Grease which I use on my O-ring on my Diving equipment would this work on the Washer O-Ring as well or does it need to be a special Silicone Grease?

It was easier for me to turn the wing nut than use a screwdriver
