My brother's front door key is the same as my front door, different manufacture and model. Bought RVlock, but had issues. Contacted customer support, and they were very helpful, sent a 2nd, but that one didn't work either. Returned both. looking at a different manufacture.
Yea, RV Locks were our first upgrade three years ago. We love them.
I bought a keyless entry for our travel trailer door I didn't think we needed one but now that I have it my wife and I are so happy. It's much easier well worth the money👍🇺🇲
We LOVE our RV locks. Our fifth wheel has two entrance doors and four basement doors.
Installed on ALL 6 doors.
My suggestion is review RV website, couple times a year they have reconditioned locks. ALL my lock were the reconditioned and NO problem over the past year.
Another suggestion is you can the same code or each separate code
We have had family visit our site when we were note home. NICE to be able give them a code via a phone call and they can relax until we get home.
SAME type of bonus is when you have your unit at a service center.
As you can see I love the same as you two.
LOVE all your video, been watch for a loong time.
Stay safe and happy !
Good tip!
Yay, I am full time and handicapped so having the remote fob is a real life saver as I can let guests in without getting up. We love ours and plan on replacing the basement storage latches as well. Thanks guys, Happy travels !
Hi Chris and Aaron! Woo hoo…what a great product review! This item is on the list, but it will be after I get a beefy hitch lock and portable macerator pump (ha…my main sewer clean out access is like 18 inches above the ground, at a spot that is about 5ft above where I park the trailer at my house when I return home). Hauling the 250 lb portable tank to that point, and then lifting it up higher to get it above the 18 inch access…..well, let’s just say “what could possibly go wrong”.
Safe travels. I will use your link for this when I am ready!
Love our RVLock, we do keep the key handy or hidden somewhere for when the batteries die. We get about 6-8 months on a battery set. The cold weather here in PA makes the batteries die faster.
I can attest to their warranty! My unit lost programming. Their customer service was quick to troubleshoot and when that failed I received a new unit in 2 days! Good company. Also I used your inverter video to build my system similar to yours! Thank you for the walkthrough.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing that! Glad the inverter vid helped too!👍
Yay for us. Been waiting on purchasing RV Door lock. Bought the V4.0 because has the all metal inside door handle. Had a sweet discount code for father's day. We love the new door lock. It's a game changer. Thanks for all the videos and great ideas.
Great idea for a series. It took many, many years for us but we're now a Yay. Chris, you-know-who also needed to learn how to slow down and punch in the code slower...especially after a work out :)
Thanks Brian, we're gonna enjoy doing these! Some people just don't know their strength eh!? 👧💪🤣
Yay. We've had ours 2 years. We change the batteries every year. The slight downer is they don't have the number 9 on the pad (why?). The other downer is they didn't have our garage lock available (I haven't checked recently).
I just got this as an early Valentine’s Day present from the wife. It was super easy to install and operate and I love the fob that comes with it. Yes it’s a little expensive but so is getting your stuff stolen. I would highly recommend this product.
Great review guys, I learned a couple of things like locking the door without entering the code. Thank you.
Interesting!! Thank you for sharing this with me! As always BS & BK & BC !!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks Larry! BS, BK and BC!
Bought my Outdoors RV 20BD last November and the first upgrade I did was replace my door lock with the same thing, if for no other reason than piece of mind , getting ready to go full time soon! Great video and I do enjoy your channel!!
I had one in my house and liked it. I've been thinking about doing this. I've been full timing again for 3 years. Your video made my mind up. Thanks
Nice Jim! Yes, if you like your house keyless you’ll love the RV as well. Such convenance!
Thank you. I just installed two of these locks on our new RV. I didn't know about the app nor did I know about holding the lock button down. :)
The Taurus story is so funny! My first car was my parents' 1992 (and then, when it broke for a bit, the 1987, even though it was older than I am!) Taurus, and I LOVED the keyless pad! I haven't had one since, which has always felt like such a waste with newer cars! I'm hoping that when we get a truck and a bigger camper that I'll finally have a car with a keypad again. And I totally left my keys in the car while I was at school so I didn't have to carry them around!
Yay!!!!! Have been using ours for 4+ years and loving it. Just changed the batteries out for the first time this summer.
NIce!👍
Like the direction of "Yay or Nay" What about a segment of the Ecoflow Delta Pro as a alternative to the Li batteries/solar charge controller/Multiplus hybrid inverter?
Yay for us. We went to one a couple years ago and like it. We don't use the fob but the keypad alone is perfect for us. We only have it on our front door but should add it to other compartment doors.
I just found you two on the you tube, great content. Thank you so much for all of the practical information and topics. I detect a midwest accent, reminds me of home. Great channel, I am sure you will grow quickly.
Yay, installled them on both doors and basement doors. Since we bought our 5th wheel used, we went ahead and replced all keyed locks. Since I ordered them all at once, a single key will unlock everything. It's been over a year, and there have been no low battery tones. Bought them during RV Locks' black Friday sale and saved a lot.
Nice! Ive heard that B Friday sale is a good one!
Def a Yay! This is our third one in a year. They replace it for free but seems to get wet after a big rain. Pro Flex Rv sealant over the top of the lock seems to have worked lately. Good idea, Yay or Nay!
Yay! Oh thats interesting with the rain....I wonder if many others have experienced that?(let us know if you are reading this😊) We do spend a lot of time in dryer climates... but haven't had any issues with the lock after it raining.
We have 6 locks and never had an issue. Maybe we are lucky. Oh oh maybe the reason we use our fifth wheel mainly in California. As they say it never rains in California. ( The old saying)
We love our keyless entry locks! Thanks for the tip regarding turning off the sound, when locking up your rig. I totally forgot this key lock is battery operated, & yes, what if we forget the code number! All great reminders.😊
Awesome! 😊
Hi, these are great for convenience and ease of use, but one con that I know of is it still has a keyhole and because most of them can be easily picked open, they are of about the same security level as the normal plane jane locks. ty for the review.
Adding a keyless lock to my trailer was one of the first mods I did. ZERO REGRETS. Just makes my life easier.
Nice! 👍
we have had these for about 10 years, and now on our NEW Jayco. Wouldn't go without.
one thing that's getting added to keyless house locks, is a USB-C port on the lock to be able to plug in a battery pack to use if your battery dies and you still need to get in......This is absolute genius and I hope to see this option on RV keyless locks
Hi guys. Glad you mentioned the battery. Had one on my old house and that always scared me. Very easy to bury a key at a house but not a big fan of "hiding" an extra key on the rig. I am with you on locking up!!! Cool first car. Mine was a 68 Goat. Luckily I have never been crazy or that would have been a really bad idea.
Vroom!🚓
We have keyless on our home front door love it as well if and when we purchase a camper would defenitly be my first purchase!
Nice! Oh yeah that makes sense for homes to have it as well! So convenient!😊
I install the rv lock on our camper after about a month it quit I tried changing batteries did work I contacted rv locks they were very helpful and two days I had a new circuit board took about 5 min to change out we love it
Nice!! Good to know!
Perfect timing I been wanting to add one of these locks just been waiting to see someone demonstrate one. We have bought more products from watching your channel. From Ebikes to heavy duty security bike chains and now this. Thanks.
Hey Ed! 👋😂 We’ll have to highlight some products we don’t recommend to help your wallet out! 😂
@@IreneIronTravels thanks You guys are the best
@@IreneIronTravels can I ask you a question. I checked over both locks you sent me on Amazon. My door looks like a standard entry door on a trailer as well a class C motorhome. I can’t understand why the 125 priced lock for a trailer won’t fit a class C door. Why because it’s says RV door for 199 can only fit my entry door? It makes no sense unless I’m missing something. Thanks
I think they are physically different dimensions so the hole in the door is different. We had to get the compact one because our door’s windows is right next to it. The compact was more than the regular at that time! Make sure too check their website as they have a few different styles there as well. HTTPS://Www.Rv lock.com
Yay for sure. Added it this year, only thing I don't like is how loud the audible indication is when you lock and unlock. Its soooo loud.
Yes! Turn that audible off!😊 Hold number 1 for 3 seconds!
@@IreneIronTravels I didn't know you could until I got to that part of the video. 🤣 I immediately walked over and turned it OFF!
okay next video, what else you two got!!
That’s too funny! Ok, our mission is accomplished if we got one person to turn their loud RV lock on silent. 😂
Also get the Drone alarms system it’s a cellular alarm system which will tell you and lock unlock your trailer and tell you battery levels also. It’s cheap and lots of piece of mind.
We'll look into that thanks!
Yay on RV lock. Love the convenience!!!
We have them on both our RVs. Love them! If you buy components within a year they can key the extra components the same. We bought two sets 6 months apart and I had both RV keyed and combo set the same.
Oh nice!!
We are on our second keypad for the lock. It is possible to create wear marks on the keys you use, leaving clues for those who might want to try to guess your code, so change codes for even keypad wear.
Well that is just a great tip that we didn't even think about! Thanks!
Great suggestion… I bet we have the same issue. Funny just made a note to myself to check for that in the sun.
I hope also that you can change your code that came with it, cuz they show it in the video. lol ;)
I guess the Bluetooth option can solve that problem tho right? But I guess you have to take ur iphone or Apple watch with u for that.
My door is a left had open, can’t find a pad that wouldn’t be upside down😢
Yes, we have had ours for 3yrs it is the greatest!
Awesome to hear!!
Be sure to get one that's all metal. The first one we got had a plastic handle on the inside, and it broke off within a week of installation.
The replacement, metal handle, has been much better
C51 locks can also be changed with combination locks. Stashing a key in this area will allow you to get in for whatever reason.
Thanks for the video I have been researching this for our Class C. After watching this, it sounds like it will be a YAY for us too. I'll have to check out RV locks for our RV
👍 Once you have one you'll always want one! Thanks for watching and voting Joe!
I installed one on my rig and I really enjoyed it I’m going to get some for my storage basement. I enjoy your videos all your tips and information your workouts and cooking segments. Hope to see you guys on the road someday sending positive energy 🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼
Nice! Thank you for watching and we appreciate the nice comment!
Yay! After 7 months full time, we bought a keyless RVLock at the Quartzsite big tent. Super easy to install and works exactly as advertised. Highly recommend!
Nice! That’s right, RV Lock had big display at Q this year. Pretty cool!
It is a yay. Have the same lock as you guys. Changed batteries yesterday. First time after 18 months. Never got a warning…. Did notice that the lock started to work intermittently when I used the FOB. Changing the 4 batteries solved that.
Nice! 👍 I kinda noticed after changing the batteries that the keypad was faster and more responsive too. Great invention!!
Definite YAY, and I haven't even gotten around to buying one yet.
Yay Yay! 😊
Aaron that was a great comment on some manufacturers using the same key on entry door locks. Our 2017.5 Lance 1985 travel trailer came with the RV Lock on the entry door. We like it but found out to our chagrin, that Lance specced the same key for every lock they installed in those days 😕. Luckily our key broke off in the lock. I opted to get a new RV Lock. The new key is a lot shorter and has held up well.
Oh, wow. I didn't realize Lance's came with a keyless RV lock. That's nice.... but not that they all had the same key! 😳 Glad to hear you got a new one!
This product is a yay for my husband and me. We are not full time but I feel like it was worth the money. The only thing I would change about the RVlock brand is to make the inside handle a little bigger and made with a better quality plastic. It feels a little flimsy and sometimes hard to get a hold of especially if it’s windy.
Yes, I could see the inside handle being a bit bigger as well. It hasn't really bothered me, but could be a good improvement !
Definitely a Yay. This is the first mod I do on our RV.
👍👍 Nice!
Yay. Have one. Love it. Works perfect. Game changer
Great to hear!
Yay...for a keyless entry! We haven't found one yet for our T@B 400.
Oh bummer! Hopefully soon! 🤞
Great topic! Our Grayhawk class c came with a keyless entry. The battery are still going strong over a year as well. We have a led light to confirm the lock engaged.
Oh wow, I didnt know they came with it from the factory! Cool....all RV's should!
I have two locks on my door. A latch like the one in the video, plus a deadbolt. If there was a way to replace both with a keyless system I’d be interested. But I see no sense to do just the one when I always use both locks.
Good video on the keyless, entertaining that on my 2021 class C. Jeeezzz I fell old my first car was a 1968 Chrysler Newport and I’m almost 64. My sons car was a 1989 Ford Taurus. Dang!😂😂😂😂
Too bad you still don’t have the Newport eh! Cool car! My dad has a 69 Chevelle that he bought back in the 90’s. 🚘🚘🚘
@@IreneIronTravels yeah I priced my first car now and we’ll,,, it’s not cheap by no means. I paid four hundred dollars for it when I was sixteen! Funny I think. 😂 But hey that was back in 1975
Hello again, wanted to add another comment. RV had a remote pad (name) below. I installed next to our bed. ( Okay know this sound very very lazy) But if you forget if you locked the door or basement door. Well worth the 50 dollars.
RVLock 8 Button Master Interior
Remote
$ 49.99
Oh yeah, I saw that key pad on the website...locks cool! Would be great also if you have multiple locks to lock at once!
Another great video!! We were lucky our camper already came equipped this way. We also always lock our door every time simply for the fact that sometimes our door will pop open. (Maybe because it wasn't always locked and has opened going down the road.a time or two or three) So if your neighbors give you the look when you lock up just tell them it's an extra precaution. 😎
Thanks Shelley! That's awesome your RV came with one! 😳 That would be crazy to be driving down the road and see your door swinging in the wind!
@Irene Iron Travels , Yes! Creepy watching our door swinging open in our rear view camera lol. Plus, passing cars signaling us. Good times 😳😁
Would love to have those!!!!
We have a Raptor & they have the long handles that no one has come up with a combination lock yet 😡😡😡
Love them. I only buy the all metal ones because the plastic ones feel flimsy when trying to pull for shut from inside.
Our last trailer, Geo Pro, had a Keyless pad, and it was great. It didn't like direct sun and would have to cool down to unlock. We would cover it if we were in direct sun with a paper plate held over it with the folding door handle. Unfortunately, they don't make one for the Airstream yet.
I’ve had the RVLock for years, I love it. Only complaint/nay is the number membrane. I’ve had to replace it twice, and about to change it for the third time, they crack and chip apart. The second one didn’t last as long as the first. Company is happy to SELL you all the replacements you’d like.
Interesting! Ours doesn't show any signs of wear and tear after a year and a half of using every day. Do you think its the suns UV doing it to yours?
🤯 never knew that we could just press the lock button to lock it up - that will save wear and tear on the number pad - thanks!!
Yes!
We have the same one and love it.
👍Nice!
2 days ago my lock broke and i had to drill through key hole to unlock . it literally took me 5 seconds . i wonder if i can do the same with one of these because i have no windows that can be crawled through
Ive wanted one and now I'm convinced!
You won't regret it! 😊
Simple but amazing to have for daily life. 16 year old A-aron is flashing back to the SHO. That was a sleeper of a race car. I might even be growing hair back thinking about it !
🤣 Such a cool car! That's how I convinced my parents it was ok for a 16 yo......"look it's just a 4 door taurus!"
I actually almost killed my self in it a few times.....
@@IreneIronTravels Terrible car for a 16 yr old. When my buddy worked at ford (early 20s) we took one to the cottage. We set a new speed record for us that weekend. Fortunately we have all matured ;)
Definitely yay but we wish we had a fob for our motorhome front door but it wasn’t available for our 2011 Jayco Greyhawk. We did get one though that had a code and we still carry our keys because what happens if the battery dies in the lock.
Smart!
I had one on my Nissan Maxima and I LOVED it! Pretty sure it would take me longer than 10 minutes but put me in the yay column. 😂
😂 Oh yeah! I loved me a Maxima back in the day as well!! 🚘
@@IreneIronTravels best car ever!
The SHO was a hot rig!
It totally was!
Kind of an of topic question. When you installed you solar upgrade, did you continue to use the solar controller that came with your ORV or did you disconnect it entirely and use a different one.
We ordered our ORV without solar so it didnt come with a charge controller knowing we were going to install the Victron MPPT. But, if it did, yes I would have used a different one. MPPT over PWM will e a more efficient controller and produce more charing for the battery. Plus the 30amp factory one can only handle 510 watts. We have 1200 watts.
I love our upgraded lock
Cool thanks
1 second in and I’m already saying Yay cause I hate touching keys… they always feel dirty to me probably cause they are lol
We travel with 2 cats and 2 dogs and always leave our door unlocked along with a note when away. The note says there are 4 pets inside and hopefully will alert anyone in case of a fire. Our worst-case scenario!
We can’t blame ya for wanting to keep your family safe! 🐶🐶🐱🐱
@@IreneIronTravels plus we like to encourage intruders! 😆
great info!!!
Thanks for watching!😊
Have it, and love it!!!
Nice! 👍
Is there a universal code for technicians to fix and help owners recover their codes ? Or a universal dealer key ?
Thats a good question! Im not sure, but there is a factory reset button on the inside of the door lock that will reset the key code to 1234.
We like the convenience of ours and skipped the fob option. Ours has a light confirmation.
Light confirmation would be great!
Great video
There were a couple of things you glossed over regarding Bluetooth and baggage door locks. Did you opt to the Bluetooth upgrade? I did and am SO annoyed it only works with ONE phone. It doesn’t allow for pairing to a second phone. 😢 I too have an OutdoorsRV rig and am bummed RVLocks doesn’t have a solution that works with our thicker doors. 😕
Oh... good to know. We don't have the bluetooth or the baggage locks so we only mentioned them as options available. Thanks for sharing that!
Good information.
Thanks for watching Joe!
Electronic locks make me nervous, but I doubt my concerns are based in reality. It just _feels_ less secure. I remember the early days of smart locks and some being found to store the PIN unencrypted. That was a long time ago though, and realistically a thief is more likely to just pick the physical lock (or find an unlocked door) instead of trying to hack or brute-force the PIN.
If I didn't have my RV Lock I think I'd cry 😢
We hear ya! 🥹🥹😂
@@IreneIronTravels that and the keyless lock on the Ford as well 👌
Great video, thanks for the review. Probably will buy the locking system. Is there anyway for you to benefit from any of our purchases that you review. I’m not sure if this product is in anyway a sponsor.
Is there anyway for you to benefit from our purchase are they a sponsor?
Thanks Stephen! We do love this lock! They are not a sponsor of the channel, but we do have affiliate links through Amazon for them (and usually most products we use) in the descriptions of our videos. Here's the Amazon links for these locks

Come on Irene 😊
You can always test the batteries with a voltage tester every six moths to a year.
just make it the same code as the truck! As for Fords having the keypad on the door, why the $%^#@ doesn't every vehicle have that???!!! I loved it on my truck, I just left the keys in the door bin out of sight, easy peasy! Have a Ram now, and really miss that!
I love mine.
If you find out what vortex it was that zaps memory, please share! I think I live in the canyon of multi-vortexes. 😂
🤣😵💫😵💫🤣
I always have my keys with me, just habit after 55 years I guess, but our RV did come with a key fob. It was a separate piece that you could hook to a key ring. Unfortunately, the attachment broke, needed repair, broke again, repaired again, broke again, just tossed it in the Jeep. Now when we get close to the RV, I can unlock, or lock as needed. Other than that, I just use the key. A possible con, very rare I am sure, but . . . a few years ago, we were camped on the Washington coast, and the lady parked next to us had an electric bike. When it was there next to us, both the Jeep and RV key fobs would not work. I tried everything, new batteries, internet searches, etc. Finally, I noticed that when the electric bike was gone, everything worked, when back, neither key fob worked. Some strange interference going on. When talking with my neighbor, we found that 30 yards seemed to be the range of the interference. And that even removing her bike battery didn't solve the problem, it was something about the bike itself. So, in conclusion, I vote [ yay ],
I hear ya on habits! Thats a crazy story on the ebike interference! We haven't ever had anything with our bikes, but I could see that happening. Ive heard of neighbors remotes turning on and off tv s and radios! 🤣
Thanks for your review! After which I'll pass! Nay. Camp grounds which I frequent, are pretty safe. If I would boon dock out in la la land, I might consider. ; - )
The first Nay! I definitely want to hear the other side as well! Some of the things we'll cover on this series will be things we don't have and might be considering adding to our RV life. So we want to hear from everyone! Thanks Bert👍
@@IreneIronTravels I got the Nay from you guys. The expense, the batteries running out and pressing hard on the keys. Buying different tumblers that is not the norm would be cheaper. IMO
👍 yes! All valid points!
Nay from me. I was able to sit at the table inside our RV and watch the guy beside us enter his code. Its not that difficult to carry a key.
I would think the key fob would be easier than stopping at the door to enter a code. I would use the key fob more than the code. If I have to stop to enter the code, why not just use the key. Of course, I am assuming it’s just a one button press on the key fob.
Yes, the Fob would be easier for sure if you carry your keys with you. So that makes sense in situations where you’re driving your vehicle. We walk a lot and I think that’s where we got into the habit of using the key pad so we don’t have to carry the keys. But you’re right! Chris even said… why don’t we have the fob on our truck keys! 😊👍
@@IreneIronTravels that makes a lot of sense. The extra weight/annoyance of keys on hikes definitely make the code a better option. Thanks!
For me, it’s a nay. I have a 2000 Monaco motorhome and I don’t even trust the electronic door locks that came with the coach. Because I have been locked out of it once when it didn’t want to work. So I just use the deadbolt, which is the same kind you have any sticks and bricks house.
Our 2019 Forza will open the doors of our friends' 2022 Forza....
Oh my! 😳
I can’t find one in any brand for my 1998 Winnebago Adventurer…😩
Oh no! Hopefully someone will make one soon!
My parents used to be a long time ago you sleep there door unlock my uncle's his in 60 and 70 nobody broke in nobody's house back then then he start coming out in the country when I was young boy and it started coming in people's houses robbing their houses that's when people started locking their doors and if people don't send them later they're going to learn the hard way I know people got insurance but you can't replace because cost too much and it's memories with him stuff you got have a good day
Nice car for a 16 year old. I gave my 95 Mustang GT to my 18 year old son. 😮
Right on! I love mustangs as well. Had a pic of a 68 fastback on my wall as a kid. But living in Wisconsin it didn’t mix well with the winters. 🤣
Get some rechargeable batteries with a charger and I bet you will change them more often.
Nay. I installed the same model on my trailer and noticed the insides of the lock were made of plastic. So I returned it because it seemed like junk. The original lock insides were metal.
No! I’ve had two fail in last 3 years!
Oh no! What was the failure on them?
