No matter what ppl say, i freaking adore Bella’s personality. She has always been super nice and so down to earth. Always respectful with people and so unproblematic. Kaia gives me the same unproblematic vibe as well. I love younger generation girls in terms of their personality. No need to show off and all the diva attitude meaningless at the end of the day.
Cindy realy can be proud of her daughter. And Kaia know that her mom have given and give her much more than outside beauty. See and hear this make me happy! :)
Props to bella for acknowledging her privilege over starting models who needs to bring food to the table, hence their journey to attaining a voice is alot more difficult. Loved her statement
it breaks my heart that for so long models felt as if they didn’t have the right to speak on certain issues or were pressured to just sit still and look pretty. so now seeing models speaking their mind and using their voice and influence for the better good and speaking up for those you don’t have the platform to makes me really happy.
Anok I love her❤️ “if you know what you’re fighting for it doesn’t matter what you’re risking” Can’t believe how she got discovered, she was meant to be
Vogue can now talk about it cuz the industry is more inclusive. When Vogue had the power to change things, they never did. Never did such a video when the industry wasn't inclusive. Change my mind
The minute speaking up became trendy- Vogue was there to do it too 🤣 Totally agree. They don't have the integrity to stand up for what's right, because at the end of the day they don't care. Unless it happens to be "cool" at the moment and they can ride that wave.
They're so well spoken , humble it's amazing . I literally got goosebumps while listening to all the them . Absolute icons. Models hold power . And I Absolutely love and support these girl . I love u vogue for such a wonderful video .
I’m pursuing a modelling career & having these issues brought to light is so important, and these particular women sharing their input is such a breath of fresh air. Theres so much power amongst these girls, the future of the industry is getting brighter with every step
i can’t get over about how stunning they are all of them but in this video personally bella and kaia are legit amazing but the backstorys of some of the girls is so sad and such a struggle 😩
I can see how vogue has changed and turned into a different kind of media, I think it has become more humane in the sense that people in the fashion insdustry are now presented as real people, not only pictures of pretty faces and pretty poses. I'm loving this new content!
Kaia is so well-spoken! Most of the girls in this video are. It’s so refreshing to come across intelligent women whose vocabulary isn’t overwhelmed with fillers such as “like” and “omg.”
As i was a young boy i looked up at Cindy Crawford: Wow, she is so beautiful! Yes, at this time i saw only her outside beauty. But with growing up i notice: Real beauty is only possible with a great personality (outside beauty without inside beauty is a doll). Cindy have real beauty and i`m happy that her daughter also have real beauty. Yes, let shine your personality Kaia and all you other models and women. So many people looks up at you. Give them more than your outside beauty, help them see what is valuable! :)
Thank you Vogue, for such an incredible video about models and the way they speak about themselves..keep on uploading 'bout this kind of experiences video vogue :)
This whole video is counterintuitive. Yes, models are humans who have feelings and opinions, just like everyone else. But they shouldn't be surprised when someone asks about their beauty routine instead of their political opinions. All of these models CHOSE to enter a completely superficial, vapid, and skin deep industry. They literally lease their image for a living, people PAY them to look pretty. That's it.
I agree in part, but the completely superficial, vapid, and skin deep industry (and it certainly is) is what should be changed. To indefinitely treat the models as just gears in that machine is, in my opinion, a practice that only feeds that culture of toxicity. They shouldn't have to play by antiquated rules of what a model should and should not be. I agree that yes, a model, by definition, is to be looked at. But that, in an evolving world, should not be their sole purpose or the only thing they are given permission to do. ❤️ No hate for you or your comment. I'm just venting against society alongside you 😅 Have a wonderful day!!!
Modeling is a lot more than just looking pretty. You are literally a business when you model, as you have to push yourself out there to even get a tad bit noticed. Modeling is being able to PRESENT clothes in a stylish way in order to influence clients to buy a piece.
That's true but the girls are talking about speaking out about the mistreatment of models in the industry as well, and of women in general as well. It's expected of models to be pretty and do their job but that doesn't mean they shouldn't also be heard.
@Vogue, an idea is to interview those models who were considered more "unconventional/alternative" and avant-garde/risky in the midst of the 'Supermodel Era' (e.g., the 1990s - late 1990s) - think Kristen McMenamy, Erin O'Connor, Guinevere Van Seenus, Alek Wek, and so on. There were several trailblazers/"unconventionals" in the industry back in those days. And essentially, they helped to start this movement towards the alternative beauty culture that we are seeing emerge again today. In my opinion, they were all personalities that happened to model than simply a clothes horse in search of a personality.
Ok but honestly the nepotism models shouldn’t be featured on a video about discrimination and struggles of modelling industry when they literally got everything handed to them.
but I think esp the last part with Bella is very relevant Bc she’s talking ab her Muslim and Palestinian background and how when she spoke up for the free Palestine movement some brands dropped her
well, maybe they got at the top faster than other models, but you can see how much they've improved over the years. And even having, as you said, everything handed to them, they still got their struggles and issues to face. Also, being as relevant and dominant on socia media as they are, featuring them on a video that envolves serious subjects, rises more awareness on that. (sorry if i sound rude or typed anything wrong, english isn't my first language)
I feel like people should only say something if they’re fully educated on it. Cus sometimes people accidentally say the wrong thing. But doesn’t hurt to repost info graphics
I'm all for empowerment but these are top models making so much money and booking for the most wanted designers and Vogue is setting the mood for us to pitty them. This video is honestly so tone deaf to real issues we have right now. I feel like the last thing we need to hear about is the grievances of models who are already sitting at the top. Why don't we switch the narrative? How can they use their privilege and better the industry - what are steps they are taking to pave the way for younger models? They have SO MUCH to offer.
What’s wrong with asking a model her beauty routine? I’m sorry, but like that’s your job-to be pretty, inspire fashion and beauty. Just because someone asks you that, it doesn’t mean that you’re being devalued as a person. Your beauty and popularity gets you a following, and that following gives you a voice. If you didn’t have social media then like any other person, you’d be irrelevant.
No, you can tell by that she meant that she prefer people would ask deeper questions as well, instead of just the simple questions. No where did she state it was wrong.
