Hi John, Years ago I bought a pile of turned out of oil impregnated brass projectiles that were made to give a smoke trail. They worked well out of my m16. You may want to give it a try.

I melt silver coins and made 308 calber for my 300 wm and shoot throw 1/2 steel plate like a champ.
