    T5:50... that HURTS to watch! I have to work that out in both of my TC-K decks. One has heavily blackened tracks, still conductivity good. I plan to replace the caps, scrape away the coating, clean the traces and re-cover them with green lacquer for protection. Is there any reason I should NOT use a regular through-hole electrolyte cap in place of those little SMD bastards?
    Jewel bearings... those are notorious for breakup when the capstan isn't fixed PRIOR to shipping. I need to get some capstan dust cover and I don't know where to get them. I have the material suitable to reproduce them but not the tool to make a precision job.

      That SMD caps are leaking and acid eats traces.

      @@hifirulezzz If the SMD capacitor is malfunctioning, how will this affect the function of the tape recorder?

      Thank you for your videos. I can now replace the pinch roller, belts and capacitors on my sony tc-k 890es player
