In this video, Jono teaches you how to do a Salchow Jump off-ice. This figure skating jump exercise will help you understand the salchow jump before you go into the ice rink to try it out. Make sure you have some space before trying this off-ice exercise.
Going through this jump as a part of your off-ice training routine is key if you aim to be a good singles skater.
This video is a part of our figure skating jumps explained series where we go through figure skating jumps in order of difficulty.
It's surprising what amazing improvements can be made thanks to practising key off ice exercises that aim to improve specific aspects of your figure skating!

I’m sooo happy I finally found a account with an explaining how to do jumps off ice! Thanks a lot!!
That tip to do a few hops on the spot before jumping was super handy 👌. Was previously struggling to get enough momentum to rotate and land cleanly. Now finding it much easier 👍
Glad to hear the video helped you out 🙂
Thank you so much! I’ve been struggling with transferring my Salchow to an off-ice move (I’m on Silver), especially since I now have to change my jump direction due to an injury. This has really helped break it down for me. I honestly can’t thank you guys enough 😁
Thanks for letting us know the video helped you out 🙂🔥❄️
Tysmm this rlly helps i love this jump
I'm a lefty so I automatically translate left and right when listening to instructions lol. Great video! 👍
I learn both ways because I'm like 34 and not wanting to give myself more muscle imbalances. I thought I was a left turner until I rolled my right ankle, so now I do both sides
interesting point you make there about not wanting muscle imbalances! Skaters typically only jump one way, but it can create muscle imbalances. Even if you only jump one way, it is worth practicing exercises off ice to balance out your body!
Lol, I'm not a lefty but I always turn to the right too xD
I'm trying to turn to the left, but that's really hard... how is that possible?!
@@mage5890 i am interested in turning right because i am a left turner 🙂🙂 But it is very hard
Great video! I am so thankful for your channel, especially now! ⛸♥️ Do you have any tips for double salchow off ice?
Have you watch the video on off ice jump rotations? Understanding the concepts of rotating will help improve how quickly you can rotate! We also have double salchow tutorial videos up on our Patreon page!
