Andy, your videos are like the gold standard of RUclips. The picture is clear, you don't blast horrible music, the audio is perfect, and - most importantly - you're prepared when you start the camera rolling -you don't waste our time with flailing around. I don't have to fast forward through your vid because you edit the unnecessary and redundant bits. I wish you could teach other youtubers how it's done.
On the window sill I have an M3 Stuart I built in *1979.* It turned out looking fine as tho it had just come out of combat somewhere in the PTO. The Stuart is my favorite allied WWII tank. As a kid I read Sgt Rock and the *Jeb Stuart comic books.* It was a great time to grow up in America.
Thanks, Andy. I just picked this kit up earlier this week and started on it. Glad to see you doing it now. You've given me some great inside on how I should finish mine.
Academy has became my favorite model brand. I've built the Humvee, the Tusk 2 M1A2 Abrams, and a Tiger 1 Early version with complete interior. All 3 have been immaculate as the fit goes. They have all been heavily detailed, with a good medium in part numbers as well. For the price, you cannot go wrong.
Hi Andy, As usual you have done a fantastic job on the Honey, It's a pity that these tanks would not stop much in the way of German armour, so these crews are true heros, again thanks for doing another great video. Les
Andy i always enjoy watching your video's before going to bed im a aircraft guy but you got me into building armor vehicles keep up the good work and im looking forward to see you building more aircraft as well that care God bless you brother
Great video as always Andy, many thanks for sharing your knowledge and top tips with us. I hope that you have fun with your next build, have you thought of doing another plane??? Perhaps a Corsair, I really like the quirky look of that plane. Anyway, many thanks Andy, Joe
yeah, finished their Sherman 76 (w) with late VVSS today, I had to coat it in stowage to hide the seam between the gearbox housing and upper hull. the plastic light guards were horrendous, and the photo-etch replacements were too tall.
Hi Andy, the colours you use??? Should they not be Portland Stone for the light colour and slate grey for the slightly darker area and dark green for the turret top? I have this in my stash to build up soon as my last one got broken by a workman and after research found these three colours to be correct as apposed to desert yellow and what you called slate green.
DEAR ANDY HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US ALL THE REALLY COOL MODELS YOU BUILD AND TEACH US! ANY WAY MY QUESTION IS COULD YOU PLEASE SHOW US HOW TO BUILD THE AFTER MARKET METAL TANK TREADS. SPECIFICALLY ,T90 TREADS THANK YOU! ,HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
hey Andy is there a benefit of painting the tank black, then white highlights, compared to painting it white then black shading on panel lines and that?
It's probably going to be easier to paint it black, then paint the centers of panels white, than to paint it white, and then paint all the edges black.
I am making this kit right now as I type this. Paint scheme shows somewhat of a blue. I really don't like this but might do it to keep it true to the time. I really am thinking of your scheme with the green
Don't use blue! The Imperial War Museum made a mistake when painting it's Matilda II so everybody thought that thos camo scheme used blue, but in reality it was grey.
Hi Andy I have just built this model and the instructions say light blue/slate grey for the part you painted green. Why the green in place of the instructed colour scheme?
As usual your AFV builds are very good. It seems you've stopped doing any aircraft. Obviously building military aircraft is a different type of construction discipline and perhaps you just prefer tanks and other similar type builds but I would love to see you tackle a few. I've recently started doing aircraft and it rapidly took me out of my "comfort zone". Good luck and continue the great build videos.
I love tanks and I want to get into the hobby of model building. I dont know where to start though so do you have any videos or can you make a video that shows the best ways to start the hobby?
I recenty started building, my first kit was an old stug iii from dragon, took me a month or so, and some parts didn't even fit. I'd reccomend you start with something from tamiya, they are quicker to build, and don't have too many parts.
Like your work and am always learning new techniques from your site. Did have a question though, why did you build a tank with interior detail and build it closed up?
Larry Brown bit of a late reply but those brackets are for the lower part of the "Sunshield" deception camouflage where a dummy shell of a truck made from canvas and wood was suspended over the tank to fool German reconnaissance that the British had less tanks in the field. Sounds crazy but it is true, look it up. :)
I have a question: Could you do video about comaparing paints like pactra, humbrol, tamiya because I usually paint with pactra and i suould like to know wich paints I have to use to paint camuflages like you for exemple for Matilda II. (I'm sorry for every grammar mistake i've done I'm not from England or USA).
They look like Squadron 90 Bend Micro tweezers (10301) that I have. I have not had success with those tweezers myself since the grip ends are not parallel. They are junk. Parts keep shooting out for me. I found better luck with others. I have some from Tamiya which DO have parallel ends and they work much better.
I like the camo scheme on that! Have had issues with decals from Academy in the past, from brand new kits. Kits go together fine, no issues there, just the decals usually. Another great video! Can you do another video with a North Africa diorama? The one with the Panzer IIIN was awesome.
Andy's Hobby Headquarters give a generous coat of Future and put the bad decal over it. Then remove the excess of future carefully with a paper towel and let it dry. Future will act as adhesive and it will also prevent glazing. Once dry, cover with matt or satin clear to unify shine. I think this can work with any acrilyc clear not only with Future, we do not have Future in Spain and I've made this same with a local floor acrylic varnish and works perfect.
Ricardo Klement semi-auto tracks are attachable tracks made with plastic, just as same as other parts of the kit. You have to connect the track pieces one by one with a model gule. Many model companies recently, (including academy) uses semi-auto tracks for better quality.
hi guys..I'm in desperate need of some help please!!!! ...I'm currently building the italeri sherman fury ..and I've had nothing but fitment problems throughout. .having overcome those..on fitting the "fury" tracks one of them was so tight in the guide wheels it snapped!!! and now I don't know how to fix it?? PLEASE HELP???I've spent hours on this model so far??? thanks ..
first dont buy Italeri armor kits lol. With the track problem there are a number of aftermarket options for tracks. Hobbylinc.com is my go to for stuff but ebay is also another great place.
get the big return rollers off. put the tracks on normally (and thin the mud guards) then put the rollers back in so they are in the right place, touch the tracks, and don't force them upwards.
I love these videos, keep up the good work. I want to build a panther, and I like the kits with more parts, that take longer to build, what brand/model should I get?
why paint it black then white for a shadow coat? it seems painting it all white then get the edges with black is easier. you can maybe do a comparison video with all the diffrent priming techinques also
Love your channel, but you missed a great opportunity to review this kit step by step, by doing and showing off the interior. Since you had also built the Tamiya Stuart and theres not many reviews out there for this important vehicle
Hey I make little clay models of tanks, insides and everything. Would you like to see some? And would there be an audience for watching me make that kind of thing? I have a pz 2 I made if you want pics
Really disappointing Andy that you don't do the full build with hatches open. It's kinda the point of the Academy kit that it has some interior. If you upped your modelling skills it woukd show off the stuff you want to sell right?
My hobby is to watch Andy make models
Thanks, Andy! I like the quirky early-war tanks, and the Stuart has a lot of character.
I wish you could teach other youtubers how it's done.
another quick little build , very well done and well weathered . good job Andy
G.I. Combat was the comic book that featured the Haunted Tank. That's my favorite tank also. I still have my copies of the comic books.
Andy greetings from the UK - yet another fantastic video - suspect your inspiring a lot of modellers out there !
awesome job Andy thanks for showing the Japanese tank I have never seen one before .
You are truly amazing Mike! What a work of art! I have seen this kit MANY times before and have been hesitant to buy it, you have changed my mind!!!
Andy thank you for clarifying the process on the tracks-- melt + staple. That helps!
Hi Andy,
As usual you have done a fantastic job on the Honey, It's a pity that these tanks would not stop much in the way of German armour, so these crews are true heros, again thanks for doing another great video.
Les
Such a well detailed and interesting looking kit. Adding this to my wish list. Thanks Andy!
Andy i always enjoy watching your video's before going to bed im a aircraft guy but you got me into building armor vehicles keep up the good work and im looking forward to see you building more aircraft as well that care God bless you brother
I love that little tank!
great build Andy! Love those little tanks. i plan on starting such kit, i just don't have time for long builds any more.
Nice, easy build, looks good! We all need an easy project now and then to break up the really involved builds.
fabulous video, i have a Stuart tank Tamiya kit. Some history on the Stuart tank, they were manufactured in Berwick, PA USA.
Jeff Thomas i built up that tamiya stuart... Didnt care much for that one... But this academy looks fantastic thou
Another great detailed little tank. Riveting video! ;-)
Great build Andy and nice Stuart kit. I just ordered one, will look nice next to my AFV club kit. Thanks for sharing! Greeting from Texas.
awesome lil honey you did Andy ty keep them coming
Just a quick thanks for continuing to entertain and inform.
Great video as always Andy, many thanks for sharing your knowledge and top tips with us. I hope that you have fun with your next build, have you thought of doing another plane??? Perhaps a Corsair, I really like the quirky look of that plane.
Anyway, many thanks Andy,
Joe
Good work. Simple and pretty.👍
wow Academy models as steped up their game up from their past models
yeah, finished their Sherman 76 (w) with late VVSS today, I had to coat it in stowage to hide the seam between the gearbox housing and upper hull. the plastic light guards were horrendous, and the photo-etch replacements were too tall.
Andy , are you putting decals on directly paint or first seal it with varnish or dull coat ?? Thanx
I have had the rubber band tracks come apart after some time, how do you get a staple on the tracks?
aren't you meant to melt them together
AMAZING video as always, Andy! thank you for showing your techniques to us, it helped me a lot :-)
Love your work andy

hey Andy is there a benefit of painting the tank black, then white highlights, compared to painting it white then black shading on panel lines and that?
AlexB2412
that's a good question I hope he answers it. would save me a butt load of black paint. awe I'll just try it and see. good luck.
It's probably going to be easier to paint it black, then paint the centers of panels white, than to paint it white, and then paint all the edges black.
The black highlights the flaws in the surface of the model better than white. He starts with black to identify problem areas and then fix them.
Andy, please do a video where you show your airbrush hardware and maybe techniques.
Hey Andy, is it true that Tamiya is trying to make figures uniform depressed where the seam is so the seam looks like clothing?
As always a great build and video!
can you make Academy's JU87 G-1 Stuka " Tank Buster"? I have already made it but I want to see how you would do it especially the paint job
I am making this kit right now as I type this. Paint scheme shows somewhat of a blue. I really don't like this but might do it to keep it true to the time. I really am thinking of your scheme with the green
Don't use blue! The Imperial War Museum made a mistake when painting it's Matilda II so everybody thought that thos camo scheme used blue, but in reality it was grey.
superbe !
j'adore tes vidéos et tu as de superbes méthodes
merci à toi !
Nicolas Ducros oui moi aussi
could you please build hobbyboss' Super Pershing with its spaced amour?
Hi Andy I have just built this model and the instructions say light blue/slate grey for the part you painted green. Why the green in place of the instructed colour scheme?
Have you done any 1:72 ?
As usual your AFV builds are very good. It seems you've stopped doing any aircraft. I've recently started doing aircraft and it rapidly took me out of my "comfort zone". Good luck and continue the great build videos.
Thanks for watching , I actually have a airplane video coming in a few days
I look forward to it, thanks.
Excellent news!

Witch pactra paint I have to use to get that blue commo like that on the box?
Can anyone tell us what the three bars are for on the sides, attached to the skirts?
Larry Brown maybe for a full side skirt
Larry Brown bit of a late reply but those brackets are for the lower part of the "Sunshield" deception camouflage where a dummy shell of a truck made from canvas and wood was suspended over the tank to fool German reconnaissance that the British had less tanks in the field. Sounds crazy but it is true, look it up. :)
Thank you for doing these.
Thank you for watching
great build as always
I have a question:
Could you do video about comaparing paints like pactra, humbrol, tamiya because I usually paint with pactra and i suould like to know wich paints I have to use to paint camuflages like you for exemple for Matilda II. (I'm sorry for every grammar mistake i've done I'm not from England or USA).
Nice Andy another good model completed. How about doing a Tamiya M2A2 Bradley ODS
How much NATO black do you use on one model? I use Tamiya paints a lot but the paint jars are quite small, don't last long on a build.
That's it, thanks
hey Andy, i have a queation, is it possible to make your own streaks with either enamel or acrylic paint?
Hey andy! Can you please build tamiyas 1/35 m26 pershing!!! :D
Hi Andy
What type of angle tweezers do you use.
Thank you
They look a lot like Tamiya #74047 HG Angled Tweezers
They look like Squadron 90 Bend Micro tweezers (10301) that I have. I have not had success with those tweezers myself since the grip ends are not parallel. They are junk. Parts keep shooting out for me. I found better luck with others. I have some from Tamiya which DO have parallel ends and they work much better.
Thank you both for the feedback
I like the camo scheme on that! Have had issues with decals from Academy in the past, from brand new kits. Kits go together fine, no issues there, just the decals usually.
Another great video! Can you do another video with a North Africa diorama? The one with the Panzer IIIN was awesome.
sometimes the m1 were great decals a few others wouldn't stick as well.
Andy's Hobby Headquarters do you " make " your own camo patterns or do you do the ones the instructions say?
Andy's Hobby Headquarters give a generous coat of Future and put the bad decal over it. Then remove the excess of future carefully with a paper towel and let it dry. Future will act as adhesive and it will also prevent glazing. Once dry, cover with matt or satin clear to unify shine. I think this can work with any acrilyc clear not only with Future, we do not have Future in Spain and I've made this same with a local floor acrylic varnish and works perfect.
Hi, do you think this one is better than tamiyas?
Tamiya's will be easier to build, and being tamiya, it will fit together flawlessly, but the academy kit will have better detail and more parts.
I love your channel! ❤
👍👍👍👍👍
Do all academy models have one piece tracks?
Ricardo Klement newer kits like T-34/85 have semi-auto tracks but some old academi kits like m3 honey has one piece track made with rubber.
박현규 what does semi-auto tracks mean?
Ricardo Klement semi-auto tracks are attachable tracks made with plastic, just as same as other parts of the kit. You have to connect the track pieces one by one with a model gule. Many model companies recently, (including academy) uses semi-auto tracks for better quality.
박현규 ok thx im not experienced and i can only do tracks as easy as Tamiya's
oops it was semi connecting tracks not semi auto sorry about that
Hi Andy, excuse my ignorance, but what does spraying buff on the model achieve? thanks 😊
Stuart Taylor makes the paint look toned down and dusty
Does anyone know if they come with the paint kit inside ??
Andy are you going to tackle Rye Field Models M1A1 with interior in the future?
Another great build
great! I also made that kit, about japanese captured version. in the korea that kit only have 14-15 boxs.
hi guys..I'm in desperate need of some help please!!!! ...I'm currently building the italeri sherman fury ..and I've had nothing but fitment problems throughout. .having overcome those..on fitting the "fury" tracks one of them was so tight in the guide wheels it snapped!!! and now I don't know how to fix it?? slt ..pas mal bon travail
could we see a Sherman VC firefly?
I’m currently building a Sherman V c firefly in Canadian markings
Great fun, Andy. Very informative. Had to ask what are the titles of music you're using. I want to buy CDs of it.
I love these videos, keep up the good work. I want to build a panther, and I like the kits with more parts, that take longer to build, what brand/model should I get?
Mr. Bear get the dragon panther g. it has alot of parts but is very accurate and goes together nice
Okay, thanks
the Stuart looks cool about how Much does it cost
Andrew Rivera it's pretty cheap.
Andy can I ask you to assemble the model Tamiya 35017 German 88mm Gun Flak36/37 or Dragon 6287 88mm Flak 37 (3 in 1)
why paint it black then white for a shadow coat? it seems painting it all white then get the edges with black is easier. you can maybe do a comparison video with all the diffrent priming techinques also
Luke Panzer because it will give a faded look in the middle of the panels and a darker shadow in the panel lines.
Halo Andy what type m3 Stuart did fight in pacific war ww2? (Against Japan )
can u paint with brushes ?
Andrew Rivera yes, I paint with a brush and the results look decent, as long as you thin the paint you'll be fine.
Andrew Rivera are you a beginning modeler?
Your cranken' em' out Andy! SU-76i next? :)
in korea this kit price is about 15$ !!!
good model from Acadamy
nice model
Love your channel, but you missed a great opportunity to review this kit step by step, by doing and showing off the interior. Since you had also built the Tamiya Stuart and theres not many reviews out there for this important vehicle
Why don't you build some italian tanks?
Nice 👍
M3 (and that's the one) didn't have a basket.
Hey I make little clay models of tanks, insides and everything. Would you like to see some? And would there be an audience for watching me make that kind of thing? I have a pz 2 I made if you want pics
I want to see!
Michael Vargas
Sounds really interesting! Post them on youtube!
Is it just me or does he putty some parts you cant even see
Really disappointing Andy that you don't do the full build with hatches open. It's kinda the point of the Academy kit that it has some interior. If you upped your modelling skills it woukd show off the stuff you want to sell right?
Or 22.23$ in ebay
They want £85 for one nowadays,
I bought it only 19.99$
You should do some beginner videos
Very cheap
